Tyler Johnson to have shoulder surgery; likely out for 2+ months
The Heat guard will have surgery on his injured shoulder and will likely be out for at least two months, if not more. Beno Udrih and Gerald Green will benefit the most from his extended absence but neither is a plug and play DFS option given their productivity.
As reported by: Shams Charania on TwitterKris Humphries remains out for Wizards
He’s getting closer to returning but it won’t be tonight against the Thunder. No DFS impact here other than not cutting into the minutes of the likes of Nene Hilario who is a secondary option in what should be a high scoring game (highest total of the night per Vegas odds).
As reported by: Jorge Castillo on TwitterJae Crowder misses practice; questionable for Tuesday
Crowder did not practice today and is considered questionable for the Celtics game tomorrow. He didn’t appear confident that he would play tomorrow but we’ll update his status tomorrow when his situation as to whether he will play or not is clearer.
As reported by: Boston Celtics official Twitter feedRobert Covington misses practice due to illness
The 76ers don’t play again until Wednesday so the news that Covington missed practice due to illness isn’t too much to be concerned about right now. We’ll update his status as it gets closer to their game.
As reported by: Keith Pompey on TwitterMarc Gasol upgraded to probable for tonight
Gasol, who was listed as questionable yesterday by the team, has been upgraded to probable for the Grizzlies game against the Pelicans. It’s an elite match up for the big man as the Pelicans are dead last in center DvP. He’s a top option in both cash and GPP’s but will also be highly owned given how early this news is breaking so keep that under consideration when building your GPP lineups.
As reported by: Brett Dawson on TwitterReggie Jackson and Irsan Ilyasova probable tonight against Brooklyn
Any concerns that Jackson (dehydration) and Ilyasova (thigh) would not play tonight look squashed as they are both probable to play tonight in a plus match up against the Nets (23rd in total fantasy points allowed, bottom third against all positions). Jackson is especially intriguing going against the likes of Donald Sloan and Shane Larkin and is one of the top options of the night at the PG position.
As reported by: Keith Langlois on Twitter Other tagged players: Ersan IlyasovaJameer Nelson doubtful for tonight's game
Nelson has suffered a setback after playing the last two games and is considered doubtful for the Nuggets in their game tonight against the Raptors. This opens up more opportunities for Emmanuel Mudiay but it’s a tough match up against a Raptors team that is 3rd in PG DvP and there are better options to utilize at the position tonight so he’s a player best avoided.
As reported by: Chris Dempsey on Twitter Other tagged players: Emmanuel MudiayCameron Payne likely to play tonight
Payne missed last game with a concussion and appears as if he will be able to play tonight once he is able to pass the league protocol. He’s not a viable DFS option as his playing time is limited (he’s only topped 20 minutes five times this season).
As reported by: Anthony Slater on TwitterIan Mahinmi and Rodney Stuckey OUT tonight
Stuckey continues to be out through the All Star break but Ian Mahinmi has been ruled out by the Pacers for their game tonight against the Cavaliers. Many players in the industry will immediately want to cue up the likes of Myles Turner and Jordan Hill for their DFS rosters tonight with this news but it’s a precarious situation. Turner’s price has risen to $5,800 on DraftKings – he’s much more playable at $5,200 on FanDuel (and at PF there). Hill is a little more affordable at $4,800 on DraftKings and $4,500 at FanDuel and is also coming off a 40+ fantasy point performance last game when Mahinmi sat. However, the match up against the Cavaliers is anything but good as they are third in fantasy points allowed, first against the center position, and third against the power forward position. The potential is there for each but understand it’s not guaranteed and as such they are GPP plays at best.
As reported by: Indiana Pacers official Twitter feed Other tagged players: Rodney StuckeyDevin Harris out tonight for Mavericks
Harris will miss his fourth straight game for the Mavericks tonight. J.J. Barea and Raymond Felton will continue to benefit from his absence with Barea being the better option of the two but neither are viable DFS targets on a large NBA slate.
As reported by: Earl Sneed on TwitterJeremy Lin will try to play Sunday, Jeremy Lamb is out
Lin will try and play Sunday against the Lakers after missing last game with an ankle injury. He has a great matchup tonight against the Lakers, but is only a GPP play. It sounds like he isn’t 100 % healthy. Lamb will miss his fifth straight game with a toe injury. With Nicolas Batum already ruled out, look for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, PJ Hairston and Troy Daniels to pick up the minutes. MKG is a great play on DK, where he is only $3,700. He played 34 minutes in his first game back and finished with 22 DK points. Of course Kemba Walker is a great play tonight against the Lakers.
As reported by: Hornets PR Other tagged players: Jeremy LambKevin Martin and Kevin Garnett out Sunday
Martin will miss his fourth straight game with a wrist injury. Although he doesn’t start the player than benefits the most with Martin out is Zach LaVine. Over his last three games, he is averaging 30 minutes and 33 FD points per game. He is a play in all formats tonight; he is $5,200 on DK and $4,600 on FD. He is listed as a PG on DK, and a SG on FD. With Garnett out the last couple of games, Gorgui Dieng has really picked up his game. Over his last three games, he is averaging 30 minutes and 35 FD points per game. Like LaVine, he is a great play across the board. He is just $5,400 on FD and $5,000 on DK.
As reported by: TimberwolvesKobe Bryant will play Sunday
Bryant will play Sunday against the Hornets. He is not a DFS option tonight; they’re just better options around the same price at SG. With Bryant returning this hurts the value of Louis Williams. Williams remains a GPP play, but isn’t a safe cash game play anymore.
As reported by: Mark MedinaRaymond Felton will start on Sunday
With Dirk Nowitzki out on Sunday, the Mavericks will start a smaller lineup. Raymond Felton will start and Chandler Parsons will play the 4. Felton and J.J. Barea make for nice GPP plays tonight especially with Devin Harris also out. Of the two, Barea is the better DFS option. He is averaging 25 FD points over his last three games; Felton is just averaging 16 FD points. With this news you can safely fade Charlie Villanueva and Dwight Powell for your lineups tonight. The play on the Mavericks tonight is Chandler Parsons.
As reported by: Bobby KarallaJose Calderon out Sunday
Calderon will miss his third straight game with a groin injury. Once again Langston Galloway will start in his place. Over his last three games, Galloway is averaging 30 minutes and 31 FD points per game. He is an excellent value play on tonight’s slate. He is $4,500 on both sites. Jerian Grant will get some extra minutes off the bench.
