Derrick Favors (back) questionable Wednesday
Derrick Favors is still nursing a sore back and remains questionable for Wednesday’s contest. Jeff Withey will likely draw another start in his place, and actually had a strong game last night against the Sixers (11 points, 12 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals). It should be taken with a grain of salt due to the matchup, but still his price remains at $3,500 on DK and he could be a solid punt option. Additionally, due to Withey not being as good of a defender as Favors, Karl-Anthony Towns would be in a plus matchup with Favors out.

Brandon Jennings "ready to go", may play tonight
Brandon Jennings is reportedly “good to go” after a long recovery from a torn ACL suffered last season. It’s still unclear if he’ll actually take the court tonight (or at any point over the next few games), but Stan Van Gundy has said he’s ready to play and could be inserted into the rotation at any time. He’s not going to supplant Reggie Jackson and Steve Blake has been playing well with the second unit, so Jennings could end up having a very minimal role in the early going. He’s definitely not a DFS option, but his presence does slightly muddy the waters for Reggie Jackson. Jackson is still a solid target on tonight’s five-game slate.

Jahlil Okafor misses practice, game-time decision for Wednesday
Jahlil Okafor missed Tuesday’s practice and is going to be a game-time decision on Wednesday against the Kings. Nerlens Noel has played very well in games that Okafor has missed, but Ish Smith’s return to the Sixers also has a lot to do with Noel’s success. The Sixers have lacked a guard that can penetrate and set Noel up with opportunities around the rim, but Smith’s presence allows Noel to use his athleticism to create scoring opportunities, as his post-up game and ability to create his own shot is still very lacking. Assuming Okafor sits again tomorrow, pairing Smith and Noel up in tournaments is a nice strategy. If Okafor suits up, it’ll make both he and Noel tougher to target.

Duncan sat out last night and while he went through practice today, he’s being listed as day-to-day by the Spurs. His status is still uncertain for tomorrow’s game, but we’d guess that he’ll be back in action which will return David West to a bench role. Boban Marjanovic would also have trouble finding the court if Duncan returns. We should have a better idea in regards to Duncan’s status after tomorrow’s shootaround.

Nicolas Batum, Jeremy Lin and Spencer Hawes are all listed as questionable for Wednesday’s game with the Clippers. Batum and Lin were able to take the court last night while Hawes sat out. It seems like Batum and Lin are on the right side of the questionable tag while Hawes’ status is still very much up in the air. With Cody Zeller playing well and Al Jefferson now back in the fold, there isn’t any real reason for the Hornets to rush Hawes back unless he’s fully healthy. If either Batum or Lin were to sit, both Kemba Walker and Jeremy Lamb would see nice upticks in DFS value.

Doug McDermott is dealing with a right knee sprain and is listed as day-to-day. He’s not expected to need surgery which probably means he wouldn’t miss more than a handful of games, but his absence will be good news for those hoping to roster Nikola Mirotic at a decreased price tag. Mirotic is very volatile even with Joakim Noah now out of the picture for the time being, but McDermott’s absence would open up another 15-20 minutes of playing time and Mirotic would be the main benefactor. He’s still a GPP-only target, but it’s possible he develops into more than that if his minutes pick up with McDermott out.

It’s been a rough year for the Suns. Not only are they dealing with an uncertain future for the coaching staff, but they’ve got Markieff Morris’ issues to worry about and now their best player will miss the rest of the season. With Bledsoe out, Devin Booker should have every chance to prove himself alongside Brandon Knight, while Knight himself should see his usage rate climb as the primary ballhandler in this offense. Ronnie Price and P.J. Tucker (who played 38 minutes for the 2nd straight game last night) also figure to benefit.

Jordan Hill (dental work) has been ruled out of Wednesday’s game, while C.J. Miles (who missed Monday’s game) is listed as questionable. Hill’s absence opens up the door for Ian Mahinmi and Lavoy Allen to see bigger minutes in the front-court, but Mahinmi is the only DFS-viable option of the two. His ceiling is fairly attractive given his ability to rack up blocks and steals when he sees extended minutes, and the Pacers don’t have many other bodies that can clean up the glass with Jordan Hill out. If Miles sits again, Monta Ellis once again becomes a stronger tournament target, especially with Paul George struggling.

Payton is dealing with a sprained right ankle, but it doesn’t appear to be something that should linger. We’d consider him questionable for Wednesday’s game against the Nets, with Shabazz Napier and Victor Oladipo set to pick up the slack if he sits. Oladipo would be the preferred play of the two, as he’d likely be asked to take on a significant role even if Napier were to draw the start for Payton. Oladipo’s playing time has been sporadic since he began coming off the bench, but Payton’s absence would seemingly allow for him to see 32-35 minutes of court time, more than enough to pay off his current salary.

It’ll be a couple more games before Barnes and Barbosa return to play for the Warriors as they did not travel with the team for their two game road trip. Brandon Rush and Shaun Livingston benefit most from those two not playing but neither are viable DFS options.

Gary Neal will not play Wednesday
Neal is not traveling with the team and will be out for the Wizards game on Wednesday in Toronto. Garrett Temple and Ramon Sessions will benefit the most from Neal’s absence.

The injury plagued Nuggets will be without three of their key players as Danilo Gallinari, Emmanuel Mudiay and Jusuf Nurkic are all out for the teams game against the Cavaliers tonight. This means increased usage and minutes for the likes of Will Barton, Kenneth Faried, and Jameer Nelson. It’s a tough match up, however, as the Cavaliers are third in the league in terms of fantasy points allowed per game. But on such a small slate, the aforementioned three players along with Nikola Jokic, Joffrey Lauvergne, and Gary Harris are all worth a look in GPP’s. The Cavs are weakest at defending PG (12th in DvP) and SG (14th in DvP) which makes Nelson, Barton, and Harris the preferred targets.

The Miami Heat are listing Justise Winslow as questionable for tonight with an ankle injury. Tyler Johnson and his injured shoulder is probable. Josh McRoberts will once again not play. Dwayne Wade is not on the injury report so he’s good to go on the second half of a back-to-back. Neither Winslow or Johnson are viable DFS targets, even on a small five game slate like tonight. Even Wade is a tough play as the Grizzlies are fifth overall in SG DvP. The Heat-Grizzlies game has the lowest total of the night and is one that can be faded for the most part.

The Rockets forward is ill and is doubtful for tonight’s game with the Atlanta Hawks. Clint Capela and to a lesser extent Donatas Motiejunas will benefit if Jones is unable to play. It’s not the best match up as the Hawks are 10th in PF DvP but on a small five game slate, Capela has some GPP value as he has shown the ability to put up some big games in the past if given enough minutes. We’ll update you on Jones status as it becomes available.

Tristan Thompson has been inserted into the starting lineup for the struggling Timofey Mozgov. Thompson is a risky option tonight, but will be low-owned due to the news breaking so late. Thompson is not much of a scorer but should be able to collect a ton of rebounds.
