Brevin Jordan

Houston Texans
12/08/21, 8:02 PM ET

HOU TE Brevin Jordan (hand) DNP Wednesday; RB David Johnson returned to practice

Brevin Jordan (hand) logged a DNP Wednesday, while David Johnson returned to practice ahead of the Texans matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Brevin Jordan is dealing with a hand injury and if he were to miss Pharaoh Brown would see the bulk of the tight end work with Anthony Auclair and Jordan Akins available to back him up. David Johnson practiced in full today signaling that he is over the illness that kept him out of Sunday’s game. Johnson should return to splitting work with Rex Burkhead in the Texans backfield.

SEA WR DK Metcalf (foot) DNP Wednesday; RB Alex Collins returned to practice

DK Metcalf (foot) logged a DNP Wednesday while Alex Collins returned to practice ahead of the Seahawks matchup against the Houston Texans this Sunday. Metcalf usually takes a maintenance day off early in the week so this is nothing to be too concerned about. It will be important to check that he practices on Thursday which he has the past few weeks, keeping with his routine. Collins returned to practice and is said to be feeling much better after resting last week. He should be in line to reclaim the majority of the touches in the Seattle backfield bus still has 3 other backs to compete with. At this point it is best to avoid the Seattle backfield until a more clear split emerges.

Melvin Gordon

DEN RB Melvin Gordon returned to practice Wednesday

Melvin Gordon has returned to practice Wednesday ahead of the Broncos matchup with the Detroit Lions this Sunday. Despite Javonte Williams monster performance as the featured back this past weekend against the Chiefs, Gordon will likely return to his normal role and split the backfield with Williams. This split will hurt both backs’ values and ceilings.

Joe Burrow

Cincinnati Bengals
12/08/21, 7:07 PM ET

CIN QB Joe Burrow (finger/knee), RB Joe Mixon (illness), RB Chris Evans (ankle), and WR Tee Higgins (ankle) all DNP Wednesday

Joe Burrow (finger/knee), Joe Mixon (illness), Chris Evans (ankle), and Tee Higgins (ankle) all logged DNPs Wednesday ahead on the Bengals matchup with the San Francisco 49ers. Burrow fully expects to play this weekend and was only resting today. Mixon is dealing with an illness and he too is expected to be able to suit up this Sunday. Chris Evans has still yet to return to practice likely meaning Samaje Perine and Trayveon Williams will continue to back up Mixon. It will be important to monitor Higgins’s practice status the rest of the week because if he were to miss Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd would become much better plays based on expected volume.

Aaron Rodgers

Pittsburgh Steelers
12/08/21, 6:57 PM ET

GBP QB Aaron Rodgers (toe) and WR Randall Cobb (core) DNP Wednesday

Aaron Rodgers (toe) and Randall Cobb (core) both logged DNPs Wednesday ahead of their matchup Sunday night against the Chicago Bears. Rodgers is fully expected to play but will likely rest his toe during practice throughout the week. Cobb is likely using today as a maintenance day but if he were unable to go this weekend, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Allen lazard would both become better plays on the showdown slate. It will be important to monitor Cobb’s practice status over the next few days but there should be no real concern as of now.

Darren Waller

Miami Dolphins
12/08/21, 6:46 PM ET

LVR TE Darren Waller DNP Wednesday

Darren Waller logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of the Raiders matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. Waller is considered day-to-day so his absence is not surprising but it also isn’t a great sign for his availability this weekend. If Waller were once again forced to miss, Foster Moreau would be the primary tight end for the Raiders. Last game Moreau caught only one of his three targets for 34 yards in an underwhelming performance. Moreau would once again be considered a value option at the position but does come with some risk.

David Montgomery

Detroit Lions
12/08/21, 6:37 PM ET

CHI RB David Montgomery (shoulder/groin/glute) DNP Wednesday; WR Allen Robinson, WR Marquise Goodwin, and RB Damien Williams all returned to practice

David Montgomery (shoulder/groin/glute) logged a DNP Wednesday while Allen Robinson, Marquise Goodwin, and Damien Williams all returned to practice ahead of the Bears matchup with the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night. It is clear from the practice report listing that Montgomery is banged up and today could just be a maintenance day but we won’t know more until later in the week. If Montgomery were forced to miss, Khalil Herbert would lead the Bears backfield with the (likely) returning Damien Williams available to back him up. Allen Robinson looks as though he could be ready to make his return as well and would slot in as one of the top receivers alongside Darnell Mooney. Marquise Goodwin looks primed to return after a one week absence and should slot back in as the third receiver for the Bears. It will be important to monitor the Bears practice report in the coming days.

Tevin Coleman

San Francisco 49ers
12/08/21, 6:26 PM ET

NYJ RB Tevin Coleman, WR Elijah Moore, TE Ryan Griffin, and TE Trevon Wesco all log DNPs Wednesday

Tevin Coleman, Elijah Moore, Ryan Griffin, and Trevon Wesco all logged DNPs Wednesday. If Coleman were to miss, Ty Johnson and recent signing Austin Walter would likely split the backfield work and become much better plays. If Moore were to be ruled out, Jamison Crowder and Keelan Cole would play much larger roles in the offense and could be considered based strictly on expected volume. If Ryan Griffin and/or Wesco were to be unable to suit up on Sunday, Kenny Yeboah and Daniel Brown would likely split time at tight end. It will be important to monitor the Jets practice reports over the upcoming days to see which players will be available this weekend.

Mike Williams

Los Angeles Chargers
12/08/21, 6:20 PM ET

LAC WR Mike Williams placed on COVID list

Mike Williams has been placed on the COVID list as a close contact ahead of the Chargers matchup with the New York Giants this Sunday. Williams was deemed a close contact on Monday so could be activated on Friday if he continues to test negative. If Williams were to be out (and Keenan Allen who tested positive but is vaccinated), Jaylen Guyton and Josh Palmer would be the top receivers for the Chargers and would be great value options. The tight ends, Jared Cook and Donald Parham would also be worth consideration. It will be important to monitor both Allen’s and Williams’s status as the week progresses as some elite pass-catching value options could open up.

Alvin Kamara

New Orleans Saints
12/08/21, 6:12 PM ET

NOS RB Alvin Kamara returned to practice Wednesday

Alvin Kamara has returned to practice Wednesday ahead of the Saints matchup with the New York Jets this Sunday. It seems as though Kamara is set to return this week and should be ready to see his full workload. He could even be thrust into a larger workload than normal with the news that Mark Ingram has been placed on the COVID list. Kamara does take a bit of a hit with Taysom Hill at quarterback due to Hill’s rushing share and lack of utilization of backs in the passing game but Kamara would still need to be considered in most contests due to his ability and expected volume in a good matchup against a poor Jets run defense.

Mekhi Sargent

Jacksonville Jaguars
12/08/21, 5:58 PM ET

LAR RB Mekhi Sargent signed to active roster

Mekhi Sargent has been signed to the active roster from the practice squad ahead of Monday’s matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. The Rams have become rather thin at the running back position so this signing makes sense. Sargent should serve as the third running back for the Rams behind Darrell Henderson and Sony Michel. He is not expected to be DFS relevant and even with Henderson banged up last game only saw 2-68 snaps.

As reported by: Jourdan Rodrigue

Nick Boyle

Baltimore Ravens
12/08/21, 5:52 PM ET

BAL TE Nick Boyle and FB Patrick Ricard DNP Wednesday

Nick Boyle and Patrick Ricard both logged DNPs Wednesday ahead of the Ravens matchup against the Cleveland Browns Sunday. Both Boyle and Ricard are not expected to have major roles this weekend so their potential absences are not expected to be DFS relevant. If Boyle were to miss, Josh Oliver and Eric Tomlinson would be available to back up Mark Andrews. If Ricard were to miss, the Ravens would likely forego a fullback.

Tommy Hudson

New Orleans Saints
12/08/21, 5:04 PM ET

TEN TE Tommy Hudson DNP Wednesday

Tommy Hudson logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of the Titans matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Hudson’s prescence or absence doesn’t figure to be too impactful for DFS players. If he were to be out, MyCole Pruitt could see a few more snaps backing up Geoff Swaim and Anthony Firkser.

D'Andre Swift

Chicago Bears
12/08/21, 4:46 PM ET

DET RB D'Andre Swift (shoulder) and QB Jared Goff (illness) DNP Wednesday

D’Andre Swift (shoulder) and Jared Goff (illness) both logged DNPs Wednesday ahead of the Lions matchup against the Denver Broncos. This is not a good sign for a potential Swift return in week 14 but it is still possible depending on how the rest of the week plays out. If Swift is unable to return it would be Jamaal Williams once again leading the backfield with Jermar Jefferson and Godwin Igwebuike available to back him up. Williams could be considered in most formats due to expected volume. Goff has been affected by the flu bug going around the Lions locker room but did give an interview over Zoom which is encouraging for his availability this weekend. if he were unable to suit up Tim Boyle would draw the start and all members of the offense would need to be downgraded.

Tony Pollard

Tennessee Titans
12/08/21, 4:19 PM ET

DAL RB Tony Pollard (foot) and WR Noah Brown (groin) DNP Wednesday; WR Cedrick Wilson returned to practice

Tony Pollard (foot) and WR Noah Brown (groin) both logged DNPs Wednesday while Cedrick Wilson returned to practice ahead of the Cowboys matchup with the Washington Football Team. It is still too early in the week to be concerned after one missed practice but it is worth taking not of. If Pollard were to miss this week’s game, Ezekiel Elliott could have a larger workload than normal strengthening his value with Corey Clement and the newly signed Ito Smith available to back him up. Cedrick Wilson should reclaim his role as the fourth wide receiver for the Cowboys limiting the impact of Noah Brown’s potential absence. It will be important to monitor Pollard’s practice status as the week progresses.
