NYG WR Kenny Golladay and WR Kadarius Toney returned to practice Thursday

Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney both returned to practice Thursday ahead of the Giants matchup with the Los Angels Chargers, but to differing degrees. Golladay seemed to be moving well according to reports and should be on track to suit up this weekend. Toney on the other hand seemed to aggravate his injury and was seen mostly working with trainers. With Toney likely out it could be Golladay, Shepard, and Slayton leading the receiving corps though none seem like very attractive options with Mike Glennon expected to be at the helm.

CHI RB David Montgomery returned to practice Thursday; WR Marquise Goodwin DNP

David Montgomery returned to practice Thursday, while Marquise Goodwin logged a DNP ahead of the Bears matchup with the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night. David Montgomery returned after taking an extra day off to manage a slew of injuries but appears to be ready to suit up this weekend. he should continue to see his normal workload with Khalil Herbert and Damien Williams available to back him up. Marquise Goodwin practiced yesterday and has now been downgraded whis is not a good sign for his availability this weekend. If he were to be ruled out Damiere Byrd and Jakeem Grant would likely absorb any snaps he was slated to see.

LVR TE Darren Waller DNP Thursday

Darren Waller logged a DNP Thursday ahead of the Raiders matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. Waller is considered day-to-day so his absence is not surprising but it also isn’t a great sign for his availability this weekend. If Waller were once again forced to miss Sunday, Foster Moreau would be the primary tight end for the Raiders. Last game Moreau caught only one of his three targets for 34 yards in an underwhelming performance. Moreau would once again be considered a value option at the position but does come with some risk.

NOS WR Ty Montgomery placed on COVID list

Ty Montgomery has been placed on the COVID list ahead of the Saints matchup with the New York Jets. Montgomery was expected to serve as the third receiver for the Saints as well as playing some snaps in the backfield. In his absence Lil’Jordan Humphrey and the recently signed Kevin White could play a larger role in the passing game but still don’t figure to be DFS relevant. Dwayne Washington could see some more work in the Saints backfield now backing up Alvin Kamara.

Jared Goff

Detroit Lions
12/09/21, 5:39 PM ET

DET QB Jared Goff returned to practice Thursday; RB D'Andre Swift, RB Jermar Jefferson, and TE T.J. Hockenson DNP Thursday

Jared Goff returned to practice Thursday, while D’Andre Swift, Jermar Jefferson, and T.J. Hockenson all logged DNPs ahead of their matchup against the Denver Broncos. Goff should be set to start Sunday after logging a full practice today which is good news for all Detroit pass-catchers. This is not a good sign for a potential Swift return in week 14 but it is still possible depending on what he is listed as on the injury report tomorrow If Swift is unable to return it would be Jamaal Williams once again leading the backfield with Jermar Jefferson (if available) and Godwin Igwebuike available to back him up. Williams could be considered in most formats due to expected volume. This could be a maintenance day for Hockenson but if he were to be ruled out, Brock Wright would be in line to see the bulk of the snaps at tight end for the Lions.

Ryan Griffin

Chicago Bears
12/09/21, 5:33 PM ET

NYJ TE Ryan Griffin returned to practice Thursday; WR Elijah Moore, RB Tevin Coleman, and TE Trevon Wesco DNP

Ryan Griffin returned to practice Thursday, while Elijah Moore, Tevin Coleman, and Trevon Wesco all logged their second straight DNP. It looks like Griffin is trending in the right direction to play Sunday and should be considered the top tight end for the Jets. If Coleman were to miss, Ty Johnson and recent signing Austin Walter would likely split the backfield work and become much better plays. If Moore were to be ruled out, Jamison Crowder and Keelan Cole would play much larger roles in the offense and could be considered based strictly on expected volume. If Wesco were to miss Kenny Yeboah and Daniel Brown would likely split backup tight end duties behind Griffin. It will be important to check the injury report released tomorrow to see what the status of each player is.

DAL RB Tony Pollard DNP Thursday, expected to be game-time decision Sunday

Tony Pollard logged another DNP Thursday and is now expected to be a game-time decision Sunday against the Washington Football Team. Pollard aggravated a foot injury and is hopeful he will be able to play this weekend. If Pollard were to miss this week’s game, Ezekiel Elliott could have a larger workload than normal strengthening his value with Corey Clement and the newly signed Ito Smith available to back him up. It will be important to check Pollard’s final listing on the injury report tomorrow and ultimately his game status when inactives are released 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday.

JD McKissic

Washington Commanders
12/09/21, 5:18 PM ET

WAS RB J.D. McKissic returned to practice Thursday

J.D. McKissic has returned to practice Thursday ahead of Washington’s matchup with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. McKissic should be slated to return to his normal role as the compliment to Antonio Gibson. Gibson should handle most of the early down work with McKissic playing a larger role in the passing game. This split will hurt the upside of both members of the Washington backfield, even in a high-paced matchup with Dallas.

Darrell Henderson

Los Angeles Rams
12/09/21, 3:11 PM ET

LAR RB Darrell Henderson (thigh) will return to practice Thursday

Darrell Henderson (thigh) will return to practice Thursday ahead of the Rams Monday night matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. Henderson is expected to reclaim his lead back role in the Rams backfield but there is the potential that the gap between he and Sony Michel could have narrowed after Michel’s performance during Henderson’s absence last weekend. Henderson’s upside could be limited on the showdown slate Monday and this should be taken into account when creating lineups.

Nick Boyle

Baltimore Ravens
12/09/21, 2:33 PM ET

BAL TE Nick Boyle and FB Patrick Ricard DNP Thursday

Nick Boyle and Patrick Ricard both logged DNPs Thursday ahead of the Ravens matchup against the Cleveland Browns Sunday. Both Boyle and Ricard are not expected to have major roles this weekend so their potential absences are not expected to be DFS relevant. If Boyle were to miss, Josh Oliver and Eric Tomlinson would be available to back up Mark Andrews. If Ricard were to miss, the Ravens would likely forego a fullback.

Jarvis Landry

New Orleans Saints
12/09/21, 2:28 PM ET

CLE WR Jarvis Landry returned to practice Thursday; WR Anthony Schwartz (concussion) and TE Harrison Bryant (ankle) DNP

Jarvis Landry returned to practice Thursday, while Anthony Schwartz (concussion) and Harrison Bryant (ankle) both logged DNPs. As expected, Landry returned to practice after taking an extra day off yesterday for injury maintenance. Anthony Schwartz still has been unable to log a practice while dealing with a concussion and his status for Sunday remains in question. Bryant has officially been ruled out for Sunday’s game with his ankle injury. David Njoku and Austin Hooper would be the primary tight ends for the Browns with Bryant out but Njoku’s status is in question after being placed on the COVID list Tuesday. Njoku would need to test negative twice separated by 24 hours prior to the game on Sunday to be available to play. If he were unable to suit up Hooper would be expected to see a large workload with Miller Forristall available to back him up and play in two tight end sets.

Randall Cobb

New York Jets
12/09/21, 1:20 PM ET

GBP WR Randall Cobb (core) expected to be out "a while" per HC Matt LaFleur

Randall Cobb (core) is expected to be out “a while” per HC Matt LaFleur, meaning he will miss the weekend’s game against the Chicago Bears. LaFleur went on to say that he plans to spread out the snaps Cobb would have seen in the slot to multiple receivers, naming Davante Adams, Allen Lazard, and Amari Rodgers specifically. This should increase all of their values slightly but it doesn’t seem like there will be one true winner. Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Allen Lazard will remain the Packers top weapons in the passing game Sunday night and can all be considered for the showdown slate.

Tommy Sweeney

Chicago Bears
12/09/21, 12:40 PM ET

BUF TE Tommy Sweeney (hip) will not practice Thursday, FB Reggie Gilliam returned to practice

Tommy Sweeney (hip) will not practice Thursday and will now have logged two DNPs this week ahead of the Bills matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sweeney is not expected to play much of a role on Sunday and if he were to miss the Bills would likely elevate Kahale Warring or Quintin Morris to backup Dawson Knox and play in two tight end sets.

Noah Brown

Washington Commanders
12/09/21, 12:14 PM ET

DAL WR Noah Brown (groin) ruled out for Sunday, expected to be out a couple weeks

Noah Brown (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday against the Washington Football Team by HC Mike McCarthy, he is expected to be out a couple weeks. With the rest of the Cowboys receiving corps starting to get healthy Brown’s role in the offense was set to deteriorate regardless of his injury status. Malik Turner will likely step into the WR5 role and is not expected to be DFS relevant at this time.

Dalvin Cook

Dallas Cowboys
12/09/21, 10:13 AM ET

MIN RB Dalvin Cook "trending towards playing" Thursday

Dalvin Cook is now “trending towards playing” Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers according to Tom Peliserro. Cook will give try to give it a go just 11 days after dislocating his shoulder, if cleared he plans on wearing extra protection. It will still ultimately be the doctor’s decision if Cook suits up tonight so it will be important to check inactives when they are released 90 minutes prior to kickoff. It is currently unknown how many snaps Cook would be able to play if he were to be active. If he were to be fully available, he would be one of the top plays on the slate and would need to be considered in most showdown lineups. If he were to be limited, he would hurt his own value and that of Alexander Mattison who has repeatedly shown he is a great fill in for Cook when he is out. If Cook is ultimately ruled out, Mattison will become one of the top plays on the slate and can be considered in all showdown formats.
