NYG WR Kenny Golladay and WR Kadarius Toney DNP Wednesday; WR Sterling Shepard returned to practice
Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney both logged DNPs Wednesday while Sterling Shepard returned to practice ahead of the Giants matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Golladay suffered a rib injury in last week’s game and Toney is still dealing with an oblique injury so their status for this weekend is highly questionable. Shepard seems to be close to returning after logging a practice last week and starting this week with a practice. If Shepard were to be available and Toney and Golladay were to be ruled out, Shepard and Slayton would lead the Giants receiving corps with Evan Engram expected to be involved in the passing game as well. It is worth noting that Mike Glennon is expected to start again this weekend after a dismal outing last week, severely hurting the expected production of all Giants pass-catchers. Even if the receiving corps are thin it is still not advised to play any members of the Giants offense with Glennon at the helm.

Elijah Mitchell (concussion/knee) and Deebo Samuel (groin) will not practice Wednesday while Jeff Wilson will return to practice ahead of the 49ers matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. It is a little early in the week to read too much into practice attendance however if Mitchell were to miss, the returning Jeff Wilson would likely split time in the backfield with JaMycal Hasty. Deebo Samuel (who is expected to return to practice tomorrow and is “hopeful” to play this weekend) would also likely see some work in the backfield as well as being the 49ers top receiving option. It will be important to monitor the San Francisco practice reports throughout the week to determine who is available this weekend.

Mark Ingram will be placed on the COVID list and his status is in question for this Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. If Ingram were to be ruled out, Alvin Kamara (expected to return this week) would be in store for a heavy workload and would likely be used in a three-down role. Kamara does take a bit of a hit with Taysom Hill at quarterback due to Hill’s rushing share and lack of utilization of backs in the passing game but Kamara would still need to be considered due to his ability and expected volume in a good matchup against a poor Jets run defense.
As reported by: Jeff DuncanMIN RB Dalvin Cook officially listed questionable for Thursday; WR Adam Thielen ruled out
Dalvin Cook has officially been listed as questionable for Thursday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers while Adam Thielen has been ruled out. Cook was originally not expected to be available this week but looks like he could at least have a shot of playing after being listed as questionable and logging limited practices Tuesday and Wednesday. If he were to be fully available, he would be one of the top plays on the slate and would need to be considered in most showdown lineups. If he were to be limited, he would hurt his own value and that of Alexander Mattison who has repeatedly shown he is a great fill in for Cook when he is out. If Cook is ultimately ruled out, Mattison will become one of the top plays on the slate and can be considered in all showdown formats. Adam Thielen will not be available this Thursday due to a high ankle sprain. In his absence Justin Jefferson will be the clear top pass-catching option with K.J. Osborn filling the number two role and offering increased value. It is also worth noting that tight end Tyler Conklin should see an increase in expected production sans Thielen and should be considered for the showdown slate as well.

NYG QB Daniel Jones (neck) ruled out for Sunday; QB Mike Glennon (concussion) expected to be cleared for practice Friday and start Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. Glennon struggled las tweekend against the Miami Dolphins completing just 23 of 44 passes for 187 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. With Glennon once again expected to start, all pass-catchers will take a hit to their expected production due to the inefficiency of Glennon. It will be best to avoid the Giants offense if at all possible in DFS contests this weekend.
As reported by: Pat Leonard Other tagged players: Mike GlennonCHI QB Justin Fields will start Sunday
Justin Fields has been cleared to return from injury and will start Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers. Fields will reclaim his role as the starting quarterback the first week he has been cleared to return from an injury to his ribs. With Fields’s return, all pass-catchers will see a slight decrease in expected production due to the rushing share that Fields commands. This will also hurt David Montgomery as he will likely see a few less carries. As for Fields himself, he can be considered on the showdown slate due to his high floor as a quarterback in addition to his rushing ability, even in a tough matchup.
As reported by: Patrick FinleyWAS RB J.D. McKissic DNP Wednesday; TE Ricky Seals-Jones returned to practice
J.D. McKissic logged a DNP Wednesday while Ricky Seals-Jones returned to practice ahead of Washington’s matchup with the Dallas Cowboys. McKissic missed last week and could be set to miss another week if he is unable to clear the concussion protocol. If he were to miss, Antonio Gibson would play the majority of the snaps and be a tremendous play this weekend with Jaret Patterson, Jonathan Williams (recently signed off the Giants practice squad), and Wendell Smallwood (currently on the practice squad and “sore” after this weekend’s game) available to back him up. Seals-Jones looks like he will be able to return at the perfect time for Washington as Logan Thomas is officially done for the rest of the season. Seals-Jones should see the majority of the tight end snaps with John bates as his primary backup and Sammis Reyes also available. Seals-Jones should be considered a decent value option at the position this weekend in DFS contests.

Jarvis Landry (knee), Anthony Schwartz (concussion), and Harrison Bryant (ankle) will not practice Wednesday ahead of the Browns matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Jarvis Landry has been dealing with a knee injury the last few months and usually takes a day or two off practice for maintenance purposes so his absence is not concerning at this time. Schwartz is still in the concussion protocol but was at the team facilities today so he seems to be trending in the right direction to play this Sunday. Bryant has been officially ruled out for Sunday’s game with his ankle injury. David Njoku and Austin Hooper would be the primary tight ends for the Browns with Bryant out but Njoku’s status is in question after being placed on the COVID list yesterday. Njoku would need to test negative twice separated by 24 hours prior to the game on Sunday to be available to play. If he were unable to suit up Hooper would be expected to see a large workload with Miller Forristall available to back him up and play in two tight end sets.

Keelan Cole has been activated off the COVID list and is expected to be available this Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Cole should play a bigger role now with Corey Davis out for the season. Cole will likely slot in as the third receiver behind Elijah Moore and Jamison Crowder going forward. At this point it is still tough to trust most members of the New York Jets offense so Cole doesn’t figure to be DFS relevant outside of a dart throw in large field GPPs.
As reported by: Aaron WilsonWAS TE Logan Thomas (knee) placed on IR; RB Jonathan Williams signed to active roster
Logan Thomas (knee) has been placed on IR and Jonathan Williams has been signed to the active roster off the New York Giants practice squad. This is Thomas’s second stint on IR meaning his season is over. From here on out Washington will be relying on Ricky Seals-Jones, John Bates, and Sammis Reyes at the tight end position. Ricky Seals-Jones (if active) can be considered in most formats as a value option but if he were also unable to suit up this week John Bates would become an even better value option based on expected volume. Williams was signed off the Giants practice squad and will likely serve as running back depth behind Antonio Gibson until J.D. McKissic (concussion) is cleared to play.
As reported by: Ben StandigWR Kenny Stills waived by New Orleans Saints
Kenny Stills has been waived by the New Orleans Saints ahead of their matchup with the New York jets this Sunday. Stills had a rough game this past Thursday against the Cowboys and was blamed by his HC for an interception likely playing a role in his release this week. Stills was not expected to play much of a role this weekend and any snaps he would have seen will likely be taken by Lil’Jordan Humphrey and new practice squad addition Kevin White.
As reported by: Nick UnderhillNYJ RB Austin Walter signed to active roster from practice squad
Austin Walter has been signed to the active roster from the practice squad ahead of the Jets matchup with the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Walter has split time with Ty Johnson as Tevin Coleman the last couple of weeks and has earned a spot on the active roster. Walter is expected to continue in this role for the time being and has supplanted La’Mical Perine in the running back rotation. Despite Walter’s increased role he still remains DFS irrelevant and will likely remain that way the rest of the season barring injury.
As reported by: New York JetsMIN RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) returned to practice Tuesday in limited fashion; WR Adam Thielen (ankle) DNP
Dalvin Cook (shoulder) returned to practice Tuesday in limited fashion while Adam Thielen (ankle) logged a DNP ahead of the Vikings Thursday night matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cook was originally not expected to be available this week but looks like he could at least have a shot of suiting up on Thursday after logging a limited practice. Adam Thielen is not expected to be available this Thursday due to a high ankle sprain. In his absence Justin Jefferson will be the clear top pass-catching option with K.J. Tavien Feaster has been released by the Arizona Cardinals ahead of their Monday night matchup with the Los Angeles Rams. Feaster served as the third running back behind James Conner and Eno Benjamin while Chase Edmonds out, but with Edmonds set to return Feaster was no longer needed by the Cardinals. Feaster could very well end up back on the Cardinals practice squad and could be called upon again if another back gets injured.
As reported by: Arizona CardinalsPIT QB Ben Roethlisberger and WR Chase Claypool returned to practice Tuesday
Ben Roethlisberger and Chase Claypool have both returned to practice Tuesday ahead of Thursday night’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. Both Roethlisberger and Claypool sat out Monday’s practice likely to take an extra day to recover from the minor injuries they have been dealing with this season. Both also returned and practice fully on Tuesday meaning they should both be ready to play in full capacity by Thursday. Roethlisberger, despite his age and declining ability, will need to be considered on the showdown slate due to his secure floor as a quarterback. Claypool should be considered due to his big play threat and target volume as the Steelers number two pass-catching option behind Diontae Johnson.
