RB Phillip Lindsay to be cut by Houston Texans
In somewhat of a surprising move Phillip Lindsay is being cut by the Houston Texans. Lindsay was relegated to the third running back role behind David Johnson and Rex Burkhead and only saw two snaps last week. Lindsay’s role in the Houston backfield is expected to be played by Royce Freeman now, who was claimed off waivers a few weeks ago. It is still tough to roster any member of the Texans in DFS contests(aside from Brandin Cooks) but if there was any week to do it this would be the week as they are set to take on the New York Jets. Lindsay is expected to be a hot commodity on the waiver wire with teams like the Jets (Michael Carter injury), Cowboys (Ezekiel Elliott still banged up), and Ravens (showed interest at the trade deadline) all potential suitors.
As reported by: Aaron WilsonNYG RB Saquon Barkley officially active Monday; FB Cullen Gillaspia and TE Kaden Smith inactive
As expected, Saquon Barkley is officially active Monday to make his return against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Barkley is expected to lead the backfield Monday but could be somewhat limited as Coach Judge has stated he plans on splitting snaps between Barkley and Booker. Barkley still should be considered the top back but with his potential limitations and matchup against an extremely tough Buccaneers run defense it might be best to fade him. Cullen Gillaspia and Kaden Smith have been listed inactive but were not expected to play a major role Monday night, their absence should not be considered DFS relevant.

Chris Myarick and Pharoh Cooper have been elevated from the practice squad for Monday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Myarick is expected to serve as tight end depth and take the place of Kaden Smith who is expected to be inactive. Cooper is expected to serve as receiver depth and also participate on special teams. Neither Myarick or Cooper is expected to be DFS relevant tonight and should only be used as desperation punt plays.

Breshad Perriman has been elevated from the practice squad for Monday’s game against the New York Giants while Scotty Miller will remain on IR. The original hope was for Miller to be able to make his return today but the Buccaneers will elect to be cautious and give Miller an extra week to recover. Perriman will be elevated to serve as receiver depth and is not expected to be DFS relevant at this point, he should only be considered as a desperation punt play.

Rob Gronkowski is expected to play Monday against the New York Giants after being listed questionable on Saturday. Gronkowski logged a full week of practice (aside from his usual rest day during the final practice of the week) setting himself up to reclaim his role as the top tight end for Tampa Bay and as one of Tom Brady’s favorite targets. If Gronkowski is active on Monday it will send both O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate back down the depth chart limiting their snaps. Gronkowski will need to be considered on Monday’s showdown slate as he is one of the top tight ends in the league and is in one of the most pass friendly offenses in football.

Anthony McFarland has been listed inactive for Sunday night’s game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Los Angeles Chargers. McFarland will once again be inactive as Najee Harris will serve as the primary back with Kalen Ballage and Benny Snell available to back him up. Harris has evolved into an every down back so there hasn’t been many opportunities for the other members of the Steelers backfield. Snell will get the nod over McFarland due to his ability to play special teams.
As reported by: Pittsburgh SteelersLAC RB Joshua Kelley and FB Gabe Nabers listed inactive Sunday
Joshua Kelley and Gabe Nabers have been listed inactive for Sunday night’s game between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. With Justin Jackson returning from injury their was no need for either Kelley or Nabers to be active. Jackson should serve as the primary backup for Austin Ekeler with Larry Rountree also mixing in. Jackson or Rountree could be an interesting contrarian option in tournaments with the upside to vulture a touchdown or two.

As expected, Clyde Edwards-Helaire is active Sunday for the Chiefs’ matchup with the Dallas Cowboys while Derrick Gore has been listed inactive. CEH is expected to play a major role in the backfield but Darrel Williams has also carved out a significant role in his absence. CEH will likely handle much of the early down work with Williams handling most of the passing downs. Jerrick McKinnon also figures to have a minor role backing up CEH and Williams, especially with Gore inactive. It will probably be best to stay away from the Chiefs backfield until the dust settles and clear roles emerge.

As expected, Kyler Murray has been listed inactive Sunday for the Cardinals’ matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. It seems as though the Cardinals are electing to be extremely cautious with Murray and will give him an extra couple of weeks to rest his ankle through their bye next week. Colt McCoy will once again draw the start which means all pass-catchers will see their expected production decrease slightly.

As reported by: Jay MorrisonGBP WR Allen Lazard officially listed inactive Sunday
As expected, Allen Lazard has officially been listed inactive Sunday for the Packers’ matchup with the Minnesota Vikings. With two receivers out for the Packers, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Randall Cobb will have to step up and play a larger role behind Davante Adams. Adams remains an elite play while MVS and Cobb will see increased value based on expected volume and can be considered as value options in most formats.
As reported by: Rob DemovskyCLE WR Donovan Peoples-Jones officially listed inactive Sunday
As expected, Donovan Peoples-Jones has officially been listed inactive Sunday for the Browns matchup with the Detroit Lions. With Donovan People-Jones out the Browns receiving corps will be led by Jarvis Landry and Rashard Higgins with the tight ends Austin Hooper and David Njoku also expected to play a major role in the passing game. The Browns will likely try to pound the ball on the ground given their depleted receiving corps, injured quarterback, and expected bad weather.
As reported by: Tony GrossiNOS TE Juwan Johnson listed inactive Sunday
Juwan Johnson has been listed inactive Sunday for the Saints matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. With Johnson inactive, Nick Vannett and Garrett Griffin should back up Adam Trautman. Johnson was not expected to play a major role and his absence is not expected to be DFS relevant.
As reported by: Zach BermanMIA RB Salvon Ahmed and TE Hunter Long listed inactive Sunday
Salvon Ahmed and Hunter Long have been listed inactive Sunday for the Dolphins’ matchup against the New York Jets. With Ahmed out, practice squad elevation Duke Johnson and Patrick Laird will back up Myles Gaskin. This should give a small boost to Gaskin as he could be called upon to shoulder more of the load in the Miami backfield. Hunter Long was expected to serve as tight end depth and his absence should not be DFS relevant.
