Dalvin Cook

Dallas Cowboys
10/06/21, 4:10 PM ET

MIN RB Dalvin Cook (ankle) DNP Wednesday

Dalvin Cook was seen in full pads but was listed as DNP Wednesday by the Vikings. Earlier in the day Cook said that the ankle injury hasn’t gotten any worse and he expects to play through it so this absence was likely just precautionary to give the ankle some more time to rest up. If Cook is unable to go Alexander Mattison would become a top value play and has already proven that he can thrive in a featured back role. This situation will need to be monitored ahead of the Vikings juicy matchup against the Detroit Lions Sunday.

Gerald Everett

Chicago Bears
10/06/21, 4:06 PM ET

SEA TE Gerald Everett (COVID list) could play Thursday, dependent on negative test results prior to game

Gerald Everett, who is currently on the COVID list could play Thursday, depending on if he is able to test negative prior to game. If he is unable to the tight end position will be played by Will Dissly and Colby Parkinson who split time last week with Dissly seeing the slight edge in snap count 46-38. Both can be considered as viable value options for the showdown slate if Everett is unable to go tomorrow.

Chris Carson

Seattle Seahawks
10/06/21, 3:55 PM ET

SEA RB Chris Carson (neck) listed questionable for Thursday; WR D'Wayne Eskridge (concussion) listed out

Chris Carson has officially been listed as questionable for Thursday while WR D’Wayne Eskridge has been listed as out. Carson is dealing with a neck injury and will be a game-time decision. If he is unable to go Alex Collins would step into the feature back role with Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas available to back him up. Collins would immediately become a top value play on the showdown slate. Eskridge will miss his 4th straight game while in concussion protocol meaning Freddie Swain will step into the WR3 role. Seattle’s top two receivers (D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett) soak up almost all of the targets but it is possible for Swain to offer some value if he is able to haul in a few targets.

T.J. Hockenson

Minnesota Vikings
10/06/21, 3:41 PM ET

DET TE T.J. Hockenson (knee) DNP Wednesday

T.J. Hockenson did not practice Wednesday with a knee injury ahead of the Lions matchup with the Minnesota Vikings. There has been no mention of a serious injury yet so Hockenson is probably just a little dinged up. It is worth monitoring though because if Hockenson is unable to go, Darren Fells could offer some value and should see most of the tight end snaps in an offense that relies on its running backs and tight ends.

Jimmy Garoppolo

Los Angeles Rams
10/06/21, 5:42 PM ET

SFO QB Jimmy Garoppolo (calf) and TE George Kittle (calf) will not practice Wednesday

Jimmy Garoppolo and George Kittle will not practice Wednesday because both are dealing with calf injuries. Coach Shanahan went on to say that Garoppolo is feeling better and could still start this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. If Garoppolo is ruled out later in the week, Trey Lance would make his much anticipated first start. Lance is a true duel threat quarterback with elite rushing upside who will warrant some consideration even in a tough matchup with the Cardinals’ defense. Kittle has been dealing with a calf issue but was able to suit up last week and log 92% of the snaps so being held out of practice is likely just for rest. If he were unable to go Ross Dwelley would serve as the primary tight end with Charlie Woerner available to back him up.

A.J. Brown

Philadelphia Eagles
10/06/21, 3:00 PM ET

TEN WR A.J. Brown returns to practice Wednesday; WR Julio Jones remains absent

A.J. Brown returned to practice Wednesday for the Titans while Julio Jones remained absent. This is good news for Brown who has been dealing with a hamstring injury and likely sets him up to be available to play Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jones on the other hand remains sidelined which could possibly mean another week of Nick Westbrrok-Ikhine and Josh Reynolds seeing increased snaps and targets. This is an important situation to monitor because if Jones is unable to go Reynolds and Westbrook-Ikhine could offer some potential value.

Christian McCaffrey

San Francisco 49ers
10/06/21, 2:35 PM ET

CAR RB Christian McCaffrey returns to practice Wednesday

Christian McCaffrey returned to practice Wednesday which opens the possibility that he could be available to play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. McCaffrey was limited and there has been no offical word on if he will be available this weekend but this is at least a good sign. If McCaffrey is able to practice this whole week without any setbacks he could rejoin the team only missing one game from what was expected to be a longer absence. If McCaffrey is once again unable to go Chuba Hubbard would be a top value option at running back once again.

Sterling Shepard

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
10/06/21, 1:48 PM ET

NYG WR Sterling Shepard, WR Darius Slayton, TE Kaden Smith all DNP Wednesday

Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton, and Kaden Smith all were listed as DNP on Wednesday ahead of their game Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. Shepard and Slayton were out this past weekend which paved the way for Kadarius Toney and John Ross to play bigger roles. Toney caught 6 of his team leading 9 targets for 78 yards and Ross caught 3 of his 4 targets including a 52 yard reception. Toney and Ross would be the biggest benefactors if Shepard and Slayton were forced to miss again this Sunday and Kenny Golladay would continue to serve as the teams top option in the passing game.

Logan Thomas

San Francisco 49ers
10/06/21, 1:31 PM ET

WAS TE Logan Thomas (hamstring) to be placed on IR

AS expected, Logan Thomas will be placed on IR due to a hamstring injury. He is expected to miss 4 weeks in which time Ricky Seals-Jones, John Bates, and Jace Sternberger (newly signed off Seahawks’ practice squad) or Sammis Reyes are expected to split time at tight end. It will be tough to reliably play any of these players until we see how the time split shakes out this weekend against the New Orleans Saints.

As reported by: Ian Rapoport

Jace Sternberger

Buffalo Bills
10/06/21, 1:10 PM ET

WAS to sign TE Jace Sternberger off Seahawks' practice squad

This signing all but confirms that Logan Thomas (who was injured on Sunday) will miss time. Sternberger should provide depth at the tight end position for Washington with Ricky Seals-Jones expected to lead the group for now. Sternberger should compete with John Bates and Sammis Reyes for snaps behind Seals-Jones with Reyes being the likely inactive candidate.

Antonio Gibson

New England Patriots
10/06/21, 12:57 PM ET

WAS RB Antonio Gibson, WR Curtis Samuel, WR Dyami Brown, WR Cam Sims, TE Logan Thomas all DNP Wednesday

Antonio Gibson, Curtis Samuel, Dyami Brown, Cam Sims, and Logan Thomas all DNP Wednesday for the Washington Football Team. Gibson has been dealing with a shin injury but was able to suit up last week, if he is unable to go Jaret Patterson and J.D. McKissic should split running back snaps and see increased value. Curtis Samuel is nursing a lingering groin injury but was able to play last week, he offers good value being the minimum on DK. If Samuel is unable to go it is likely that Brown (also DNP) or Deandre Carter would step into his role. Logan Thomas is the only player on this list expected to miss (as of now) this Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints. His snaps should be split between Ricky Seals-Jones, Sammis Reyes, and John Bates with Seals-Jones expected to see the bulk of the work.

Dan Chisena has been activated off IR and is expected to play Sunday. Chisena primarily plays on special teams and is not DFS relevant.

Tee Higgins

Cincinnati Bengals
10/06/21, 2:21 PM ET

CIN WR Tee Higgins will practice Wednesday

Tee Higgins will practice Wednesday after missing the last two weeks due to injury. With the return of Higgins the three-headed passing attack of the Bengals is reunited but limits the upside of each member. Ja’Marr Chase and Higgins should compete for targets on the outside while Tyler Boyd should play in the slot. Higgins or Chase will likely draw the tough matchup with Jaire Alexander (if Alexander is available; DNP Wednesday) on most passing plays, so look for whoever avoids that matchup to see the majority of the targets when the Bengals face off against the Green Bay Packers Sunday.

Justin Fields

New York Jets
10/06/21, 12:16 PM ET

CHI QB Justin Fields will start Sunday and will be starter going forward for the Bears

Justin Fields will start Sunday and will be starter going forward for the Bears according to Head Coach Matt Nagy. Nagy let off the press conference saying Andy Dalton would practice in full insinuating that he was healthy and ready to return but Nagy has elected to go with Fields as the starter for the rest of the season. Fields’ starts have been a mixed bag so far but that’s to be expected for a rookie quarterback. This is what we should expect from Fields going forward as well, he offers elite upside with a solid rushing floor but will be inconsistent. Fields can be considered on DK this week at a price tag of 5.2K but draws a tough matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Elijah Moore

Denver Broncos
10/06/21, 12:04 PM ET

NYJ WR Elijah Moore (concussion) set to return to practice Wednesday

Elijah Moore, who missed last game while in the concussion protocol, is set to return to practice Wednesday. Moore is on track to play this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons and should slide back into his role as WR3 alongside Corey Davis and Jamison Crowder. The return of Crowder last week has sapped some of Moore’s value as he is no longer the clear number two receiver for the Jets.
