D'Andre Swift (concussion) limited in practice Tuesday; Kenny Golladay (hip) DNP
Swift appears to be progressing through the NFL’s concussion protocol and was able to return to practice on a limited basis on Tuesday, which puts him back on track to play in Thursday’s Thanksgiving matchup against the Houston Texans after missing one game. Swift still has more hurdles to clear in the protocol, but with just under 48 hours until the Lions’ Week 12 kickoff, he undoubtedly has a much clearer path to suiting up for this contest. If Swift is cleared, he immediately becomes one of the top options at the running back position on the three-game Turkey Day slate after Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson accounted for just 58 total yards in last weeks drubbing versus the Carolina Panthers, so it shouldn’t be difficult for offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell to hand over the keys to the backfield to Swift once again.

Head coach Adam Gase confirmed that Perine sustained a high-ankle sprain in Week 11, and he’s expected to miss several weeks, which effectively rules him out for Week 12’s matchup and makes him a candidate to be placed on injured reserve sometime this week. There had been reports that Perine was going to take on a larger role in the Jets’ backfield following the by week, but he only managed to accumulate eight carries prior to exiting Sunday’s contest with the aforementioned injury. Perine’s absence likely elevates Frank Gore to the lead running back once again, but it’s certainly possible that the Jets go into full evaluation mode down the stretch of the season and Ty Johnson or Josh Adams become more involved in the offensive gameplan.
As reported by: Manish Mehta via TwitterAdam Thielen placed on reserve/COVID-19 list Monday
The Vikings have placed Thielen on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday afternoon, putting his status in some doubt for Week 12’s matchup, but he’ll still have the opportunity to suit up if he’s deemed as a high-risk close contact and didn’t actually test positive for the virus. The protocol for close contacts is that they can be activated from the COVID-19 list after five days of negative tests, which in this hypothetical, would have Thielen on track to be activated by Friday or Saturday and likely active for this weekend’s contest. Hopefully, at some point during the week, there will be more information provided on Thielen’s situation and then the Vikings’ offensive projections can be properly adjusted to reflect his potential absence from the wide receivers corps.
As reported by: Courtney Cronin via TwitterGreg Olsen (foot) placed on injured reserve Monday
Olsen was diagnosed with a ruptured left plantar fascia following last Thursday’s contest, and he’s now officially been placed on injured reserve, putting his 2020 season in jeopardy. Obviously, Olsen won’t be active for the Seahawks’ Week 12 matchup and will allow Jacob Hollister and Will Dissly to become the undisputed top two tight ends in the Seattle offense, but it’ll be interesting to see if one of them asserts themselves as the clear top tight end instead of being stuck in a timeshare at the position. Jacob Hollister had been seeing routes run and target on the rise over the past several weeks prior to Week 11, so he appears to be the leading candidate to assume that hypothetical alpha role if either of the two is going to step up with Olsen sidelined for an extended period of time.
As reported by: Tom Pelissero via TwitterJ.K. Dobbins and Mark Ingram test positive for COVID-19, ruled out for Week 12
Dobbins and Ingram both received positive test results for COVID-19 on Monday morning and have been placed on the reserve list, effectively ruling them out of Thursday’s Week 12 Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers since they need to accumulate five consecutive negative tests at least 24 hours apart to rejoin the team and participate in team activities. This news will catapult Gus Edwards and Justice Hill up the Ravens’ running back depth chart and will more than likely be the only two players receiving touches out of the backfield on a short week, even if someone like Ty’Son Williams is elevated from the practice squad to the active roster closer to game time. Edwards should be the clear odds-on favorite to lead the two in touches on Thursday night, but Hill is easily the more versatile back and will be an intriguing tournament option on the Thanksgiving Day slate if Edwards’ projected ownership gets out of control.
