Devonta Freeman

Baltimore Ravens
11/13/20, 9:23 PM ET

Devonta Freeman (ankle) placed on injured reserve, officially ruled out for Sunday

Freeman injured his hamstring at practice this week, and the Giants have opted to place him on injured reserve, effectively ruling him out of Sunday’s Week 10 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles and at least the following two games due to the hamstring and an ankle injury that already forced him to miss two week. In his absence, Wayne Gallman has largely been able to work as the lead back, but he has found himself in much more of a three-way timeshare than he was back in Week 7 when Freeman exited the game early with the aforementioned ankle injury. Over this span, Gallman has logged a concerning 47.7% snap rate and ceded 17 carries to practice squad call-up, Alfred Morris, essentially making him unusable in daily fantasy formats with Dion Lewis also siphoning away passing game usage on third downs. This appears to be a situation to avoid for the time being and may even remain a fantasy wasteland once Freeman is cleared to return to game action.

Justin Jackson

Detroit Lions

Justin Jackson (knee) ruled out for Sunday; Troymaine Pope (neck) questionable

Jackson was held out of practice the entire week, and he’s officially been ruled out of Sunday’s Week 10 matchup against the Miami Dolphins due to a knee injury he sustained early in this past Sunday’s win. Depending on the status of Troymaine Pope, who is listed as questionable after being sidelined in Week 9 with a concussion, it appears that Joshua Kelley and Kallen Ballage are poised to lead the Chargers backfield for a second straight game. While Ballage found the endzone and accrued more carries than Kelley in the aforementioned contest, Kelley was still more involved in the passing game, and it seems plausible that he would be a bigger part of the offensive gameplan with the advanced notice that Jackson will be inactive this weekend.

Joe Mixon

Houston Texans
11/13/20, 8:09 PM ET

Joe Mixon (foot) officially listed as doubtful for Sunday

Mixon still hasn’t practiced since sustaining a foot injury back in Week 6, and he’s already officially been ruled out of Sunday’s Week 10 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, marking the third straight game he’s been sidelined. Now that Mixon is set to be inactive once again, Gio Bernard should undoubtedly remain in a similar lead back role given his prowess in the passing game out of the backfield. In the previous contests, Bernard easily out-snapped backup running back Semaje Perine with a 71.0% snap rate, but his slim lead in the backfield carries last time out was the most concerning sign for his viability in daily fantasy formats moving forward, as he accumulated 15 carries to Perine’s 10 and only ran 13 routes on passing downs despite a solid 11.4% target share.

Matt Breida

San Francisco 49ers

Matt Breida (hamstring) officially listed as questionable for Sunday

Breida was a limited participant in practice all week, and he’s officially been listed as questionable for Sunday’s Week 10 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers due to a hamstring injury that already forced him to miss one game. It’s possible that Breida’s final status isn’t known until inactives are released on gameday, but even if he’s eventually ruled out, DeAndre Washington could potentially be joining an already muddied backfield situation where Jordan Howard, Salvon Ahmed, and Patrick Laird received work in the Dolphin’s previous contest. On the surface, it appears Howard would be in line to lead the committee in carries and absorb a large portion of the first and second down snaps once again, but there is still a wide-ranging outcome for this group as a whole, especially if Washington makes his debut since he’s proven capable of handling a three-down workload when given the opportunity in the past.

Laviska Shenault

Buffalo Bills
11/13/20, 9:59 PM ET

Laviska Shenault (hamstring) won't play on Sunday

Shenault was able to put in a limited session every day at practice this week, but he’s still going to be held out and won’t play in Sunday’s Week 10 matchup against the Green Bay Packers due to a hamstring injury he sustained early in last Sunday’s contest. His absence will likely give Chris Conley another opportunity to step into a top-three wide receiver role, and even though Gardner Minshew is no longer under center because of injury and performance-related reason, Conley was still able to accrue eight targets, good for a 21.1% target share in relief of Shenault last time out. However, DJ Chark has seen an elite, alpha wide receiver one target share over the previous two weeks, and he still remains the top option from this Jaguars passing offense outside of a pure punt on Conley in daily fantasy tournament formats this weekend.

Mo Alie-Cox

Indianapolis Colts
11/12/20, 8:09 PM ET

Mo Alie-Cox (knee) officially active Thursday night

Alie-Cox was a limited participant in practice on a short week, but he’ll officially be active for Thursday night’s Week 10 matchup against the Tennessee Titans despite dealing with a knee injury. With Jack Doyle remaining in the NFL’s concussion protocol and already ruled out of tonight’s contest, Alie-Cox and Trey Burton will be left as the top two tight ends in head coach Frank Reich’s offensive system that already often utilizes more than one tight end in a pass-catching role. Alie-Cox surprisingly out-snapped Burton 35-29 in this past Sunday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens, but it’ll be interesting to see if that trend continues with the Colts having advanced knowledge that Doyle will be sidelined and could possibly gameplan around featuring Burton as the primary tight end option on passing plays instead.

T.Y. Hilton

Dallas Cowboys

T.Y. Hilton (groin) will play Thursday night; Jack Doyle (concussion) ruled out

Hilton was able to practice in full on both Monday and Tuesday, and he will play in Thursday night’s Week 10 matchup against the Tennessee Titans after missing one game due to a groin injury. As for Doyle, he remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol and has been officially ruled out as head coach Frank Reich suggested to reporters on a Zoom conference call earlier in the week. This will leave Mo Alie-Cox and Trey Burton as the top two tight ends in Reich’s offensive system that already often utilizes more than one tight end in a pass-catching role.

Justin Jackson

Detroit Lions
11/11/20, 5:04 PM ET

Justin Jackson (knee) unlikely to play in Week 10

Head coach Anthony Lynn disclosed to reporters on a Zoom conference call that the team is leaning toward resting Jackson in practice this week, which means he is highly unlikely to play in Sunday’s Week 10 matchup against the Miami Dolphins due to a knee injury he sustained early in this past Sunday’s win. Depending on the status of Troymaine Pope, who was sidelined in Week 9 with a concussion, it appears that Joshua Kelley and Kallen Ballage are poised to lead the Chargers backfield for a second straight game. While Ballage found the endzone and had more carries than Kelley in the aforementioned contest, Kelley was still more involved in the passing game, and it seems likely that he would be a bigger part of the offensive gameplan with the advanced notice that Jackson will likely be inactive this weekend.

Christian McCaffrey

San Francisco 49ers
11/11/20, 5:20 PM ET

Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) officially ruled out for Week 10

McCaffrey is seeking a second opinion on his injured shoulder, and he won’t be present at Wednesday’s practice, which has led the Panthers to preemptively rule him out Sunday’s Week 10 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccanneers as a precaution. This means that Mike Davis will take over as the undisputed lead back once again, and he managed to combine for more than 20 touches in four of the previous six games McCaffrey has been sidelined this season. In fact, Trenton Cannon and Reggie Bonnafon have seen minimal usage as the backup running backs in the Panthers’ most recent contests, as head coach Matt Rhule has opted to use Curtis Samuel more out of the backfield. Samuel has seen his price rise across the daily fantasy industry, but he’s managed to see at least five targets and handle several carries over the last three games, making him an intriguing tournament option on this weekend’s slates.

Preston Williams

Carolina Panthers
11/11/20, 5:37 PM ET

Preston Williams (foot) placed on injured reserve Wednesday

Williams was helped off the field with a foot injury in this past Sunday’s contest, and the Dolphins officially announced that they will be placing him on injured reserve, effectively ruling him out of Sunday’s Week 10 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers and at least two additional games. Miami initially feared that Williams might be done for the season, but there is now at least optimism that he’ll be able to return to the field at some point after the initial three-week timetable he’s required to remain on the injured reserve list. This means that DeVante Parker will assume the undisputed alpha wide receiver role in Williams’ absence, but outside of him and Mike Gesicki, there is a lack of weapons for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, which could lead the Dolphins to promote Antonio Callaway to the active roster later in the week despite him only being apart of the organization for a little over two weeks.

Jamison Crowder

Washington Commanders
11/09/20, 8:20 PM ET

Jamison Crowder (groin) officially active Monday night

Crowder was a limited participant in practice the entire week, but he’ll still be active for Monday night’s Week 9 matchup against the New England Patriots after previously being listed as questionable on the Jets’ injury report with a groin injury that forced him to miss two games. The Jets are were so close to having their full complement of weapons on offense for the first time this season, but with Sam Darnold being a mid-week addition to the injury report with a shoulder injury, Crowder and the rest of the receiving corps will need to rely upon Joe Flacco at the quarterback position for a minimum of one week. Their range of outcomes as a group may be more volatile with Flacco under center, but Crowder, Breshad Perriman, and Denzel Mims still all have relevant ceilings if the Jets are forced into a pass-heavy game script this evening.

Damien Harris

Buffalo Bills
11/09/20, 8:30 PM ET

Damien Harris (ankle) and Ryan Izzo (hamstring) officially active Monday night

Harris was limited in practice the entire week, but he’ll still be active for Monday night’s Week 9 matchup against the New York Jets despite dealing with an ankle injury he sustained late in last Sunday’s loss. The Patriots didn’t activate Sony Michel from the injured reserve prior to the deadline for tonight’s contest, so Harris will have less competition for first and second down work from the running back group as a whole, but Cam Newton’s massive role in the goal-line offense will continue to limit his ceiling from a touchdown standpoint. Ever since Julian Edelman and N’Keal Harry have been sidelined, head coach Bill Belichick and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels have opted to utilize two running back sets with much higher frequency, which makes Harris, Rex Burkhead, and James White all viable options on the daily fantasy slates across the industry this evening.

Jack Doyle

Indianapolis Colts
11/09/20, 5:07 PM ET

Colts TE Jack Doyle unlikely to play Thursday night

Doyle has entered the NFL’s concussion protocol, and head coach Frank Reich admitted to reporters on Zoom this morning that it will be tough for Doyle to be cleared prior to Thursday night’s Week 10 matchup against the Tennessee Titans, making him unlikely to play or even be active. This will leave Mo Alie-Cox and Trey Burton as the top two tight ends in Reich’s offensive system that often utilizes more than one tight end in a pass-catching role. On top of that, Alie-Cox surprisingly out-snapped Burton 35-29 in yesterday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens, but it’ll be interesting to see if that trend continues with the Colts having advanced knowledge that Doyle will likely be sidelined and could possibly gameplan around featuring Burton as the primary tight end option on passing plays in this week’s contest.

Nick Chubb

Houston Texans
11/09/20, 6:41 PM ET

Nick Chubb (knee) designated to return from injured reserve on Monday

The Browns announced that they have designated Chubb for return from injured reserve, initiating his 21-day practice window, with the intention of him being activated prior to Sunday’s Week 10 matchup against the Houston Texans after missing four games due to a sprained MCL in his knee. Ultimately, Chubb’s practice participation will determine his status for this weekend’s contest, and if he is active, Kareem Hunt will likely find himself back in a full-blown timeshare in the Cleveland backfield, especially with the Browns inability to run the ball effectively over the last couple of weeks. Hunt absorbed a respectable 66% of the running back carries in addition to his usual passing game targets while Chubb was sidelined with largely lackluster results, so it’d be far from surprising if Chubb assumes the 1A role in backfield moving forward.
