Chris Carson (foot) considered week-to-week, unlikely to play in Week 8
Carson appears to have avoided a significant injury, but he is still considered week-to-week and is expected to miss some time, effectively ruling him of Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers due to a mid-foot sprain. Travis Homer was also banged up in last night’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals, so Carlos Hyde unsurprisingly took control of the Seahawks’ backfield and totaled 41 snaps and accumulated 18 combined carries and receptions. With Carson sidelined, Hyde should continue to play well ahead of rookie DeeJay Dallas if Homer is unavailable, but it’ll be interesting to see how much headway the young running back can make in Hyde’s snap share given his general lack of versatility out of the backfield.
As reported by: Ian Rapoport via TwitterDeAndre Hopkins active Sunday night; KeeSean Johnson inactive
DeAndre Hopkins didn’t appear at risk of sitting, and as expected the star WR will be active Sunday night. While he has been dealing with an ankle injury for the past few weeks, Hopkins still leads the NFL with 47 receptions and 601 yards. He should approach 10 targets once again tonight. KeeSean Johnson will be inactive, and he has only appeared in two games so far this season.

Jeff Wilson is officially active for Sunday, and he will work behind top back Jerick McKinnon. Dante Pettis is once again inactive, and his role in this offense is non-existent.

Tyler Davis is inactive for the Jaguars Sunday. James O’Shaughnessy remains their top TE option with Ben Ellefson behind him.

Justin Jackson is active Sunday after being listed as questionable this week. He will share duties with Joshua Kelley as usual. K.J. Hill is also inactive, although his projected role was minimal at best.
As reported by: Los Angeles Chargers Other tagged players: K.J. Hill, Joshua KelleyJulian Edelman active Sunday, as expected; Devin Asiasi inactive
As usual, Julian Edelman will be active after being listed on the injury report as questionable. Devin Asiasi is a healthy scratch, and rookie TE Dalton Keene will make his debut.
As reported by: New England Patriots Other tagged players: Devin Asiasi, Dalton KeeneLe'Veon Bell active Sunday; Darwin Thompson inactive
Le’Veon Bell is officially active for the Chiefs, meaning he will make his debut Sunday. Clyde Edwards-Helaire will remain the top RB, but Bell will have a role in the offense, although it’ll likely be smaller than usual for his first week. Darwin Thompson is inactive, as he is not needed given the KC RB depth.
As reported by: Adam Teicher Other tagged players: Darwin Thompson, Clyde Edwards-HelaireJake Butt inactive Sunday
Jake Butt is inactive Sunday. There doesn’t appear to be a role for him in the offense, given that the Broncos already have Noah Fant, Albert Okwuegbunam and Nick Vannett.
As reported by: Mike Klis Other tagged players: Noah Fant, Albert Okwuegbunam, Nick VannettJamison Crowder inactive; Sam Darnold active, as expected
Sam Darnold will start for the Jets Sunday, but will be without WR Jamison Crowder. The absence of Crowder means more targets for a player like Braxton Berrios, while Breshad Perriman, Denzel Mims and Jeff Smith should also get some chances. However, the Jets offense looks weak, and all these plays come with extremely low floors.
As reported by: Manish Mehta Other tagged players: Sam Darnold, Breshad Perriman, Braxton Berrios, Denzel MimsJordan Akins inactive Sunday
Akins will miss his third straight game for the Texans. Darren Fells will be their top TE option and is coming off a very productive Week 6, where he caught 6 of 7 targets for 85 yards and a TD. Keep in mind, he had just 2 catches each of the two weeks before that game, so there is some downside risk.
As reported by: Aaron Wilson Other tagged players: Darren FellsRobert Tonyan active Sunday
Tonyan was questionable this week but is officially active and will play. The Packers are without star RB Aaron Jones, which could open up more opportunities for players like Tonyan in the offense. The Packers also have a favorable matchup against the Texans, making Tonyan an interesting option.
As reported by: Olivia ReinerJohn Ross, Cethan Carter inactive Sunday
John Ross is back to being inactive for the Bengals, one week after being active but having zero impact. Cethan Carter is a surprising inactive, as he has been heavily involved on special teams. His absence is a slight bump to Drew Sample.
As reported by: Jay Morrison Other tagged players: Cethan Carter, Drew SampleCurtis Samuel active Sunday
Samuel will be active this week after being listed as questionable. He missed the Panthers’ Week 6 game, but should return to his typical role as the third WR option, while also getting a couple rush attempts.
As reported by: Myles SimmonsAaron Jones inactive today
Jones typically plays a massive role in the Packers’ offense, so his absence opens up significant opportunity. The most direct beneficiaries are the RBs, with Jamaal Williams now a fantastic play and AJ Dillon expected to see an increased work load. The Packers have a good matchup against the Texans, so a value play with high upside like Jamaal Williams will also carry high ownership.
As reported by: Adam Schefter Other tagged players: Jamaal Williams, AJ DillonRobert Tonyan, Curtis Samuel, Sam Darnold expected to play; Cardinals 'hopeful' about DeAndre Hopkins, and he will likely play
Ian Rapoport provided a series of updates overnight, mostly just confirming that several questionable players are expected to play this week. The Hopkins news update is the most ambiguously worded, but he should be expected to play: he has been playing through the same injury for weeks, and Hopkins almost always plays, having missed just 2 games through his first 7-plus seasons in the NFL.
