Breshad Perriman

Indianapolis Colts
10/30/20, 1:02 PM ET

Breshad Perriman (concussion) ruled out for Sunday; Jamison Crowder (groin) unlikely to play

Perriman remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol, and he has officially been ruled out of Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs at risk, while Crowder is now unlikely to play despite putting in a limited practice on Thursday following his absence from last week’s loss due to a groin injury. Denzel Mims made his NFL debut in Week 7 and essentially took over the second outside wide receiver role from Jeff Smith and accumulated a 31.8% target share on 97.8% of snaps, so with Perriman unable to suit, Smith will likely reclaim a full-time role with Mims working as the de facto top option on the outside. However, the likely absence of Crowder is a positive development for Braxton Berrios, who logged a 93.3% snap rate last time out, and he should continue running a majority of his routes from the slots in the Jets’ three-wide receiver sets this upcoming weekend.

Jalen Reagor

Miami Dolphins
10/29/20, 5:45 PM ET

Jalen Reagor (thumb) will play Sunday night

Reagor was designated to return from injured reserve earlier in the week and has participated fully in practice every day since, so the news that he will be activated from injured reserve in time to play in Sunday night’s Week 8 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys comes at much less of a surprise. The Eagles will still be without Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson, so there is still ample opportunity for Reagor to carve out a role as the other outside wide receiver opposite Travis Fulgham in this offense, especially while one or both of Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz remain on injured reserve. There haven’t been any reports of a potential snap count for Reagor at the time of this writing, so it’s entirely plausible he’ll be a full-time starter and an excellent tournament option in the single-game daily fantasy formats across the industry this weekend.

Michael Thomas

New Orleans Saints
10/29/20, 5:57 PM ET

Michael Thomas (hamstring) returns to practice Thursday

Thomas returned to practice for the first time since straining his hamstring last week, and even if he’s listed as a limited participant on the Saints practice report, this is still a positive sign for his potential availability in Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the Chicago Bears after missing the previous five games for injury and disciplinary reasons. The Saints will still be without Emmanuel Sanders, who remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list, so if Thomas is cleared to play in this weekend’s contest, he will almost certainly step into his usual voluminous role as the primary pass-catcher for quarterback Drew Brees as long as he isn’t limited by a potential snap count. Additionally, Marquez Callaway and Bennie Fowler have yet to participate in practice this week, so even if Thomas is ultimately active, it’s definitely possible the Saints wide receiving corps is still barren for their Week 8 matchup.

Julian Edelman

New England Patriots
10/29/20, 3:06 PM ET

Julian Edelman (knee) ruled out for Sunday; N'Keal Harry (concussion) still not practicing

Edelman underwent a procedure on his ailing knee on Thursday morning, and according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, will miss “some period of time”, effectively ruling him out of Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the Buffalo Bills at a minimum. Meanwhile, Harry is still hasn’t cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol and missed his second consecutive practice, putting his status for this weekend’s contest in doubt and making it possible the Patriots are forced to trot out Damiere Byrd, Jakobi Meyers, and Gunner Olszewski as their top three wide receivers on Sunday afternoon. Following Harry’s exit from last week’s loss, Meyers ended up logging an 80.9% snap rate and running 25 routes on passing downs, so he may be the preferred punt option in tournament formats considering he also accumulated six targets and a 68.0% market share of the team’s air yards.

Breshad Perriman

Indianapolis Colts
10/29/20, 11:40 PM ET

Breshad Perriman (concussion) still not practicing Thursday; Jamison Crowder (groin) limited

Perriman entered the NFL’s concussion protocol earlier in the week, and he has yet to participate in a practice, putting his status for Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs at risk, while Crowder was able to put in a limited session following his absence from last week’s loss due to a groin injury. Denzel Mims made his NFL debut in Week 7 and essentially took over the second outside wide receiver role from Jeff Smith and accumulated a 31.8% target share on 97.8% of snaps, so if Perriman is unable to suit, Smith would likely reclaim a full-time role with Mims working as the de facto first option on the outside. However, if Crowder ends up being cleared to play, he’ll absorb a large portion of the available targets from Sam Darnold and take over the large majority of slot routes from Braxton Berrios, who logged a 93.3% snap rate in his absence.

John Brown

Buffalo Bills
10/28/20, 5:03 PM ET

John Brown (foot) practices in full Wednesday

Brown returned to practice on Wednesday and was listed as a full participant, which is a positive sign for his availability in this Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the New England Patriots as he recovers from a nagging knee injury. In his absence, Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis, and Cole Beasley worked as quarterback Josh Allen’s top receivers in three-wide sets, but Beasley was easily the biggest beneficiary of Brown being sidelined as he ran 44 routes on passing downs, logged an 84.3% snap share, and just barely trailed Diggs with 29.3% market share of the targets. The likely return of Brown will relegate Davis to a backup role once again, but Beasley’s snap count should depend more on the availability of Dawson Knox and the rest of the tight end group since he runs such a large majority of his routes from the slot.

Mark Ingram

New Orleans Saints
10/28/20, 2:44 PM ET

Mark Ingram (ankle) doesn't practice Wednesday

Ingram did not participate in practice on Wednesday due to a high-ankle sprain, which is concerning for his potential availability in Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers since he had the entire bye week to rest and heal up the aforementioned injury. If Ingram isn’t ready to go by the weekend, rookie J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards would likely form a two-running back committee and would be quite the improvement over the Ravens’ current three-way backfield timeshare. Assuming Justice Hill remains an afterthought, Dobbins should profile as the better option in daily fantasy formats over Edwards, but following Ingram’s early exit in Week 6, the two backs essentially split snaps down the middle with Dobbins running six more routes on passing downs than his backfield counterpart.

Tevin Coleman

San Francisco 49ers
10/28/20, 3:00 PM ET

Tevin Coleman (knee) designated to return from injured reserve

The 49ers announced that they’ve officially designated Coleman to return from injured reserve, and he’ll have a 21-day practice window before he’s required to be moved to the active roster. This means that Coleman still has a chance to activated prior to Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks after missing the previous four games with a knee injury. The timing of Coleman’s potential return couldn’t be better for the Niners with Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. already on short-term injured reserve with their respective ailments, making possible Colemen steps directly into the lead running back role for head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense with JaMycal Hasty and Jerick McKinnon also likely seeing a portion of the backfield touches. McKinnon’s workload has been sporadic, to say the least, of late, so he may be an easy player to avoid in daily fantasy formats if Coleman is ultimately activated prior to this weekend’s contest.

Allen Robinson

Detroit Lions
10/28/20, 3:12 PM ET

Allen Robinson remains in the NFL's concussion protocol Wednesday

Robinson was forced to leave the game late in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams due to a blow to the head, and head coach Matt Nagy confirmed with reporters on Zoom that Robinson is still in the NFL’s concussion protocol and won’t participate in practice on Wednesday afternoon. It’s still too early to be concerned about Robinson’s potential availability for this Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the New Orleans Saints, but if he’s not able to return to practice by Friday, it’s likely that he’ll be unable to suit up this weekend. If that’s the case, Darnell Mooney would become the de facto number one receiver for quarterback Nick Foles, and he’s coming off of a game where he had a 91.2% snap rate, ran 42 routes on passing downs, and led the Bears pass-catchers with seven total targets.

Odell Beckham

New York Giants
10/27/20, 3:54 PM ET

Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) officially placed on injured reserve

As expected, the Browns officially placed Beckham on injured reserve with a torn ACL in his knee, effectively ruling him out of Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders and ending his 2020 season. The absence of Beckham will not only make Jarvis Landry the undisputed number one receiver in the Browns offense, but it will also open up additional opportunities for Rashard Higgins and likely some combination of Donovan Peoples-Jones and Khadarel Hodge, who is slated to be activated from injured reserve this week. The health status of Austin Hooper will be a key situation to monitor in Week 8 heading into the weekend as he would be set to be the number two target for quarterback Baker Mayfield if active or, if not, Harrison Bryant and David Njoku would enter consideration for daily fantasy formats across the industry once again.

Christian McCaffrey

San Francisco 49ers
10/27/20, 12:45 PM ET

Christian McCaffrey (ankle) designated to return from injured reserve

The Panthers announced that they’ve officially designated McCaffrey to return from injured reserve, and he’ll have a 21-day practice window before he’s required to be moved to the active roster. According to reports from Panthers beat writers, McCaffrey was on the practice field with a helmet today, so it seems likely he’ll participate in practice in at least a limited fashion, leaving open the possibility he is activated prior to Thursday night’s Week 8 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons after missing the previous five games with an ankle injury. Unfortunately, since McCaffrey isn’t on the active roster yet, he won’t be included on the Panthers’ practice reports this week, but even if he practices in full the next two days, he still appears to be a longshot to return to game action on a short week.

Chris Godwin

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
10/27/20, 12:34 PM ET

Chris Godwin (finger) officially ruled out for Week 8

Godwin fractured his left index finger making a touchdown catch this past Sunday and is undergoing surgery on Tuesday morning to repair the damage. This effectively rules him of Monday night’s Week 8 matchup against the New York Giants, and depending on how quickly it heals, he could return for the Buccaneers Week 9 contest. Godwin has only played in four games this season, so there is a decent sample size as far as the NFL goes with Mike Evans as the lead wide receiver in this offense, and in those instances, he’s averaged nine targets from quarterback Tom Brady compared to the three targets he’s averaged with Godwin active. Additionally, with Antonio Brown not eligible to return from suspension until Week 9 at the earliest, Scotty Miller and Tyler Johnson figure to see more opportunities in the passing game as well.

Tyler Higbee

Los Angeles Rams
10/26/20, 7:33 PM ET

Tyler Higbee (hand) officially inactive Monday night

Higbee was able to be a limited participant in practice on Saturday, but he’s officially been downgraded from questionable on the Rams’ injury report and will be inactive for Monday night’s matchup against the Chicago Bears due to a hand injury. His absence will obviously make Gerald Everett the primary pass-catching tight end for quarterback Jared Goff, but it will also likely force head coach Sean McVay to utilize more 1-1 personal, which would allow Josh Reynolds and maybe even Van Jefferson to see more routes in three and four wide receiver sets. This makes each of them, along with Everett, intriguing options in the single-game daily fantasy slates across the industry this evening.

Deebo Samuel

Washington Commanders
10/27/20, 5:36 PM ET

Deebo Samuel (hamstring) likely to miss the next two games

Samuel was forced to exit in the second half of this past Sunday’s win over the New England Patriots, and head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed with reporters via Zoom that Samuel won’t be available for the Week 8 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks and most likely Week 9 as well due to a hamstring injury. The strain must be fairly significant if Samuel has already been ruled out this far in advance, and in his absence, Brandon Aiyuk and Kendrick Bourne are in line to take on a much more significant role in the offense, though George Kittle clearly remains the top target in the passing game for quarterback Jimmy Garropolo moving forward. Additionally, the 49ers are also set to be without both Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. for at least the next two games, and if Tevin Coleman isn’t activated from the injured reserve list, JaMycal Hasty and Jerick McKinnon figure to lead this Niners’ backfield in touches this upcoming weekend.

Kenyan Drake

Green Bay Packers
10/26/20, 6:12 PM ET

Kenyan Drake (ankle) expected to miss a "few weeks"

Drake underwent an MRI on Monday morning that revealed a slight tear to a ligament in his ankle, and according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, is expected to miss at least a few weeks. The Cardinals have a bye week in Week 8, but given that prognosis, he’ll seemingly miss at least two or three games heading out of the bye, if not more since the Cardinals are treating this injury as a severe high ankle sprain. In Drake’s absence, Chase Edmonds should undoubtedly lead this Arizona backfield in carries and routes run for the duration he’s sidelined, putting him in a prime position to produce fantasy points at an elite level over the course of the next few games.
