Dalvin Cook (adductor) officially ruled out for Sunday
Cook sustained an adductor injury early in the second half of Sunday night’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and as expected, he’s officially been ruled out of Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons due to the aforementioned ailment. Cook was never able to participate in practice this week, and the Vikings have their bye week on the horizon in Week 7, so it certainly makes sense to give Cook an extra week of rest to recover instead of risking further damage to his long-term health. Since Cook is now sidelined, Alexander Mattison will almost certainly take over bell-cow duties in the Minnesota backfield this weekend after he out-snapped Mike Boone 43-to-5 in the third and fourth quarters following Cook’s exit from the game.
As reported by: Andrew Krammer via TwitterOdell Beckham (illness) and Jarvis Landry (hip) listed as questionable for Sunday; Baker Mayfield (chest) on track to play
Beckham was sent home from the Browns’ practice facility with a non-COVID illness for precautionary reasons, but as long as he passes the necessary testing on Saturday morning, he’ll be good to go for Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, while Landry is also expected to be available despite popping up on the injury report earlier in the week. So, even though Beckham, Landry, and Mayfield have all been assigned designations on the Browns’ injury report heading into the weekend, there currently shouldn’t be any concern that any of them will end up on the inactive list on gameday.
As reported by: Camryn Justice via Twitter Other tagged players: Jarvis Landry, Baker MayfieldChris Godwin (hamstring) expected to play on Sunday
Godwin was able to practice in full on Friday, and even though he’s been listed as questionable on the Buccaneers’ officially injury report, head coach Bruce Arians disclosed that he expects Godwin to play in Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the Green Bay Packers after missing the previous two games with a hamstring injury. Mike Evans is also listed as questionable, but it appears that quarterback Tom Brady will have his full complement of wide receivers for the first time since Week 3 with both players on track to suit up. However, Leonard Fournette’s status is a bit more unclear, but if both he and LeSean McCoy are able to return to the field this weekend, Ronald Jones’ secure share of the backfield touches could become a bit more strenuous and would make him a more volatile option in daily fantasy formats.
As reported by: Scott Smith via TwitterDJ Chark (ankle) listed as questionable for Sunday
Chark was able to return to the practice field and put in a limited session on Friday, but he has still been listed as questionable on the Jaguars’ injury report for Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the Detroit Lions due to an ankle injury that forced him to exit last Sunday’s contest early. Laviska Shenault has taken on a much more consistent role in the Jaguars’ offense since the last time Chark was sidelined with an injury and has run at least 31 routes while amassing at least 14.6% of the targets from quarterback Gardner Minshew in each of the previous three games. However, without Chark in that contest, Chris Conley essentially stepped directly into his vacated role on the outside and had a whopping 52% market share of air yards to go along with eight targets and a 79.2% snap rate, making him an intriguing tournament option in tournament formats if Chark unable to play this weekend.
As reported by: John Reid via TwitterDiontae Johnson (back) limited in practice Thursday
Johnson was a spectator at Wednesday’s practice, but he returned to the field Thursday and was able to put in a limited session, which gives him a strong chance of being able to suit up for this Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the Cleveland Browns despite dealing with a back injury. However, full practice participation on Friday would likely be needed for Johnson to avoid a questionable designation on the Steelers’ injury report heading into the weekend. Even if Johnson is cleared to play, the target distribution in Pittsburgh has become infinitely murkier following Chase Claypool’s breakout performance in last Sunday’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles, but he’d still be a viable tournament option for daily fantasy formats across the industry in Week 6.
As reported by: Brian Batko via TwitterDJ Chark (ankle) doesn't practice again Thursday
Chark wasn’t able to practice for a second consecutive day, and he is trending in the wrong direction to be available to play in Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the Detroit Lions due to an ankle injury that forced him to exit last Sunday’s contest early. Laviska Shenault has taken on a much more consistent role in the Jaguars’ offense since the last time Chark was sidelined with an injury and has run at least 31 routes while amassing at least 14.6% of the targets from quarterback Gardner Minshew in each of the previous three games. However, without Chark in that contest, Chris Conley essentially stepped directly into his vacated role on the outside and had a whopping 52% market share of air yards to go along with eight targets and a 79.2% snap rate, making him an intriguing tournament option in tournament formats if Chark is ultimately inactive this weekend.
As reported by: Michael DiRocco via TwitterTitans WRs Adam Humphries and Cam Batson activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list
The Titans announced that they have activated Humphries and Batson from the Reserve/COVID-19 listed, and both were able to participate in practice on Thursday, putting them on track to be ready for this Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the Houston Texans after being sidelined for nearly two weeks. Batson remains on the practice squad at least for now, but the likely return of Humphries is a nice boon to a Titans’ receiving corps that’s been decimated by their internal coronavirus outbreak. Humphries won’t be in a position to receive the same market share of targets he was seeing earlier in the season with A.J. Brown now back in the mix following his injury, but since Corey Davis is still a longshot to clear COVID-19 protocols in time to practice this week, there will still likely be a sizable void that’ll need to be filled by Humphries or a combination of the other ancillary pieces in the Tennessee offense.
As reported by: Erik Bacharach via Twitter Other tagged players: Cameron BatsonNoah Fant (ankle) considered "50-50" to play in Week 6
Fant was the beneficiary of the Broncos impromptu by week, but he’s still only been able to put in a limited practice session each of the first two days this week. This led head coach Vic Fangio to refer to Fant as “50-50” to play in this Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the New England Patriots due to an ankle injury. Fant would likely need to be a full participant in Friday’s practice to avoid a questionable designation on the injury report heading into the weekend, but if he’s given the all-clear, he’ll still be worth a look in large-field tournaments at a weak tight end position on Sunday’s daily fantasy slates across the industry.
As reported by: Aric DiLalla via TwitterMelvin Gordon returns to practice Thursday
Gordon was sent home from the Broncos’ practice facilities on Wednesday following his DUI arrest, but he returned to practice in at least a limited fashion this afternoon, putting him on track to play in Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the New England Patriots despite his detrimental conduct. It’s still technically possible the Broncos suspend him for this weekend’s contest, but that seems much less likely now that he’s rejoined the team and is participating in team activities. If Phillip Lindsay is healthy enough to carry a large portion of the running back workload, Gordon may see his role reduced or even benched for an early sector of the game, which makes him an easy player to avoid in daily fantasy formats with a potential league suspension also hanging over his head for the foreseeable future.
As reported by: Aric DiLalla via TwitterTitans RB Darrynton Evans (hamstring) placed on injured reserve
Evans was held out of Wednesday’s practice, as was most of the team, but the Titans announced that they’ve placed the reserve running back on injured reserve, effectively ruling him out of Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the Houston Texans and the following two games. His absence will elevate Jeremy Nichols to the undisputed number two back behind Derrick Henry and should see at least some passing down work even without a Henry injury. McNichols only logged a 9.7% snap share and ran nine routes in Tuesday night’s win over the Buffalo Bills, but those figures figure to rise with no other running backs currently on the Titans’ active roster.
As reported by: Jim Wyatt via TwitterDavante Adams (hamstring) practices in full Wednesday
Adams didn’t have any setbacks during the Packers bye week, and he was able to be a full participant in practice for the first time since injuring his hamstring in Week 2, putting him on track to play in Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccanneers after missing two games. His likely return to the field will be a welcome boost to the Packers’ wide receivers corps, who had been led by Marquez Valdes-Scantling their last time out, and Adams almost certainly reclaim his spot atop the Green Bay pecking order for targets from quarterback Aaron Rodgers in this weekend’s contest. Additionally, his mere presence could be impactful enough to put an end to the Robert Tonyan experience as the tight end accumulated 11 targets and four touchdowns in the two games Adams was sidelined.
As reported by: Matt Schneidman via TwitterCam Newton officially activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list
The Patriots officially announced that they’ve activated Newton from the Reserve/COVID-19 list, and he’ll be ready to play in Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the Denver Broncos after missing one game with the virus. Newton is expected to practice fully when he rejoins the team on Thursday, so barring some unforeseen setback, there should be no concern about his availability for the weekend’s upcoming contest. His likely return to the field will obviously relegate Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer back to their second and third-string quarterback duties following their combined lackluster performance in the Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs well over a week ago.
As reported by: Field Yates via TwitterSam Darnold (shoulder) remains out for Week 6
Darnold mentioned to reporters on Monday afternoon that he was still feeling pain in his throwing shoulder, so it is no surprise that head coach Adam Gase and the Jets have already ruled him out of Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the Miami Dolphins due to a shoulder injury that has now forced him to miss two games. This means that Joe Flacco will get another start under center after his lackluster performance in this past Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals where he accumulated a measly 5.9 yards per attempt and just 195 total passing yards. Other than Jamison Crowder, who eclipsed the 100-yard mark yet again, it’s tough to trust any Jets players in daily fantasy formats with an incompetent play-caller like Gase still at the helm.
As reported by: Ralph Vacchiano via TwitterA.J. Brown active Tuesday night
Brown is active for Tuesday’s game against the Bills. With Tre White inactive for the first time in his career, Brown should see plenty of Josh Norman, a matchup he should be able to exploit with his speed. Kalif Raymond remains an appealing value target with the injuries to Corey Davis and Adam Humphries.
As reported by: Jim WyattJohn Brown, Zack Moss both inactive for Tuesday Night; Tre'Davious White also inactive
The Bills with be without both John Brown and Zack Moss for Tuesday night’s meeting with Tennessee. With Brown out, we should expect Stefon Diggs to be a target hog with Cole Beasley and Gabriel Davis picking up some added appeal. Davis is one of the strongest value plays on Tuesday’s showdown slate. With Zack Moss still out, Devin Singletary will remain the unquestioned lead back with TJ Yeldon or Taiwan Jones potentially stealing a few touches. With Tre White inactive, A.J. Brown is set up to primarily operate against Josh Norman, and Brown should have a notable advantage there despite still being a little banged up. This will be the first game White has missed in his career, so things could be a little shaky on Buffalo’s back end.
