Miles Sanders (hamstring) officially listed as questionable for Sunday
Sanders has been a limited participant in practice all week as the Eagles attempt to manage his hamstring injury ahead of the matchup against the Washington Football Team on Sunday afternoon. Head coach Doug Pederson has repeatedly referred to Sanders as day-to-day and even admitted to media members on numerous Zoom conferences that the team may need to ease Sanders into his typical starting workload after missing well over three weeks of camp. However, it’d be very surprising if Sanders is inactive, and even if he didn’t see his usual lions share of the backfield touches, he’d likely see enough work to keep Boston Scott as just a low-owned, punt option in large-field tournaments on Sunday’s main slate.
As reported by: Zach Berman via TwitterJalen Reagor (shoulder) will play Sunday
Reagor was a full participant in practice for a second straight day and will play in Sunday’s matchup against the Washington Football Team despite dealing with a torn labrum in his shoulder. On Wednesday, most beat writers were surprised that Reagor was “doing everything” in individual and team drills after he was previously expected to be progressing towards making his NFL debut the following week. With Reagor ahead of schedule, his involvement in the Week 1 offensive gameplay will mostly be a detriment to JJ Arcega-Whiteside and Greg Ward, who would have projected to handle a majority of the slot routes if Reagor was sidelined, However, Reagor’s presence in the wide receiver rotation is mostly a boon to Carson Wentz’s appeal in daily fantasy formats with another deep threat on the outside opposite of DeSean Jackson.
As reported by: Zach Berman via TwitterKenny Golladay (hamstring) officially listed as doubtful for Sunday
Golladay has been a non-participant in practice for two consecutive days and has officially been listed as doubtful for Sunday’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints due to a hamstring injury. Head coach Matt Patricia originally stated that the team was just being cautious with Golladay by holding him out of practice, but that either appeared to be a lie or Golladay’s hamstring didn’t respond to treatment as well as the Lions expected. With Golladay on track to be inactive, Marvin Jones Jr. becomes a stellar daily fantasy option at an increased target volume, while Danny Amendola and T.J. Hockensen would also likely see a few more passes headed their way with no clear backup to Golladay on the outside at wide receiver.
As reported by: Tim Twentyman via TwitterMike Williams (shoulder) officially listed as questionable for Sunday
Williams was a limited participant in practice all week and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals due to a shoulder injury. Williams expected to be a game-time decision and a final determination on his status likely will go all the way until inactive are due approximately 90 minutes prior to kickoff. If Williams is unable to suit up, that would leave the Chargers with a group of young, unproven wide receivers behind Keenan Allen, which would not only increase his market share of targets, it would also likely force more targets in the direction of Hunter Henry and Austin Ekeler, only adding to their projected fantasy value in daily fantasy formats for Sunday’s main slate.
As reported by: Omar Ruiz via TwitterDavid Montgomery (groin) officially listed as questionable for Sunday
Montgomery was able to practice in full for a second straight day on Friday, so even though the Bears have listed him as questionable on their official injury report, he is firmly on track to suit up for Sunday’s season opener against the Detroit Lions despite battling a groin injury. Montgomery is the only true running back on the Bears roster other than third-stringer Ryan Nall, so it probably shouldn’t have been so surprising that the team expected him to be available for Week 1’s contest following an extended absence during training camp. The likely presence of Montgomery in the backfield rotation is a huge hit to the projected touch volume of Tarik Cohen, who had been in line to receive more carries on top of his usual pass-catching and third-down roles if Montgomery was sidelined.
As reported by: Dan Wiederer via TwitterCourtland Sutton (shoulder) considered a "long-shot" to play Monday Night
Sutton landed awkwardly on a diving catch towards the end of Thursday’s practice and later underwent an MRI that revealed an AC joint sprain in the injured shoulder. The Broncos announced that the current plan is for Sutton to get in limited work during Saturday’s walkthrough, but his status for Monday night’s season opener against the Tennessee Titans seems to be in jeopardy with Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reporting that Sutton is a “long-shot” to play. Assuming Sutton is unable to suit up, rookie wide receiver Jerry Jeudy would suddenly become the number one target on the outside for Drew Lock, while Tim Patrick would likely see a majority of snaps on the opposite side of the field with DaeSean Hamilton also mixing in and running a majority of his routes from the slot.
As reported by: Ian Rapoport via TwitterDiontae Johnson (foot) returns to practice Friday
Johnson returned to practice on Friday after previously sitting out practice on Thursday due to a foot injury. Since the Steelers don’t play the New York Giants until Monday night, it appears that the team was just giving Johnson a maintenance day to heal up from a potential lingering foot issue he had been experiencing during training camp. There is still one more practice for Johnson to receive reps for Week 1, so as long as his participation status isn’t downgraded, he should ready to go as one of the top receiving options for Ben Roethlisberger on Monday evening.
As reported by: Ray Fittipaldo via TwitterMike Evans (hamstring) limited to individual drills Friday, remains a game-time decision
Evans is battling a hamstring injury that could jeopardize his availability for Sunday’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints, but he returned to practice in a limited fashion on Friday and participated in some individual drills on the side. Head coach Bruce Arians told reporters that they’ll wait and see how Evans feels tomorrow but later reiterated his comments from Wednesday by stating the team is willing to wait on making a final determination on Evans’ status until Sunday morning when inactive lists are required to be submitted. If Evans is unable to suit up or is limited to a snap count, Justin Watson and Scotty Miller should be expected to split the leftover workload opposite of Chris Godwin and in the slot. However, the Bucs are one of several teams that are projected to run a substantial amount of 12-personnel packages, which could also lead to more routes for Rob Gronkowski and OJ Howard in this hypothetical scenario.
As reported by: Scott Smith via TwitterDenzel Mims (hamstring) unlikely to play Sunday
Head coach Adam Gase revealed to reporters on a Zoom conference that Mims injured his other hamstring in Thursday’s practice, and it “doesn’t look good” for his availability come Sunday afternoon. At least from the season’s outset, Mims was projected to be behind Chris Hogan on the receiver depth chart anyway, so all his likely absence does is free up routes on the outside for Hogan and Breshad Perriman in a matchup with a stingy Buffalo Bills defense. However, Jamison Crowder is still the heavy favorite to lead the Jets in targets not only this week but for the duration of the 2020 season, making him the top wide receiver to pair with Sam Darnold in daily fantasy tournament formats, if that’s something one would be interested in doing.
As reported by: Manish Mehta via TwitterBrandin Cooks (quad) will be active Thursday
Cooks has officially been upgraded from questionable and will be active for Thursday’s season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs after missing both Tuesday and Wednesday’s practices with a quad injury. The Texans have managed Cooks workload all training camp, and there have been reports stemming from the Texans camp that he may be on a snap count for at least the first game of the season. Depending on how limited Cooks winds up being, Kenny Stills could see substantially more routes on the outside opposite of Will Fuller, who likely remains the main target beneficiary of DeAndre Hopkins departure to Arizona this offseason.
As reported by: Ian Rapoport via TwitterDavid Montgomery (groin) practices in full Thursday
Montgomery was upgraded to a full participant in Thursday’s practice, which firmly puts him on track to suit up for Sunday’s season opener against the Detroit Lions despite battling a groin injury. Montgomery is the only true running back on the Bears roster other than third-stringer Ryan Nall, so it probably shouldn’t have been so surprising that the team expects him to be available for Week 1’s contest following an extended absence during training camp. The likely presence of Montgomery in the backfield rotation is a huge hit to the projected touch volume of Tarik Cohen, who had been in line to receive more carries on top of his usual pass-catching and third-down roles if Montgomery was sidelined.
As reported by: Jason Lieser via TwitterMike Evans (hamstring) doesn't practice again Thursday
Evans has a hamstring injury that could jeopardize his availability for Sunday’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints after missing all three of the Buccaneers’ practices thus far this week. On Wednesday, head coach Bruce Arians called Evans “day-to-day”, and that if he doesn’t practice Friday, the team is willing to wait on making a final determination on his status until Sunday morning when inactive lists are required to be submitted.
As reported by: Greg Auman via TwitterCourtland Sutton (shoulder) exits practice early Thursday, will undergo MRI
Sutton landed awkwardly on a diving catch towards the end of Thursday’s practice and was forced to leave for the locker room with members of the Broncos’ training staff. Shortly after the conclusion of practice, the team announced that Sutton would be undergoing an MRI to further assess any potential damage to his injured shoulder. The MRI could obviously come back clean, but the necessity for additional testing should definitely be taken as an indication that his status for Monday night’s season opener against the Tennessee Titans could be in jeopardy. If Sutton is unable to suit up, rookie wide receiver Jerry Jeudy would suddenly become the number one target on the outside for Drew Lock, while Tim Patrick would likely see a majority of snaps on the opposite side of the field with DaeSean Hamilton also mixing in and running a majority of his routes from the slot.
As reported by: Adam Schefter via TwitterJalen Reagor (shoulder) practices in full Thursday
Reagor was upgraded to a full participant in Thursday’s practice, while Miles Sanders remains listed as limited on the latest Eagles’ practice report. On Wednesday, most beat writers were surprised that Reagor seemed to be “doing everything” in individual and team drills after he was previously reported to be progressing well to make his NFL debut in Week 2 because of a torn labrum in his shoulder. With Reagor seemingly ahead of schedule, his involvement in the Week 1 offensive gameplay would mostly be a detriment to Greg Ward, who would have projected to handle a majority of the slot routes if Reagor was sidelined, though his presence is mostly a boon to Carson Wentz’s appeal in daily fantasy formats with another deep threat on the outside opposite of DeSean Jackson.
As reported by: Zach Berman via TwitterDiontae Johnson (foot) doesn't practice Thursday
The Steelers released their first practice report for Monday night’s season opener against the New York Giants, and Diontae Johnson has been listed as a non-participant in Thursday’s practice due to a foot injury after previously not missing any practices during training camp. Since the Steelers don’t play until Monday, there are still two more practices for Johnson to get in reps for Week 1, so as of now, there is no need to fret over his absence from practice today since there’s always a chance that the team is giving him maintenance to heal up from a lingering foot issue.
