Chad Beebe Inactive Sunday

Chad Beebe is inactive for Minnesota Sunday, a somewhat surprising move. His absence should open up some targets for the rest of the offense today against the Packers.

T.J. Yeldon Inactive Sunday

T.J. Yeldon will be inactive Sunday for the Bills. He was projected for a minor role to begin with, and his absence shouldn’t create a significant change.

Tevin Coleman's Status for Week 1 Not Yet Known

San Francisco is dealing with air quality issues from the wild fires currently burning along the west coast. The game is still currently expected to be played, but the low air quality can create issues for those with pre-existing conditions, such as Tevin Coleman. The decision to play or not is reportedly up to Coleman, and will likely depend on the air quality closer to kickoff. This will be an important situation to monitor today, and Raheem Mostert would receive a significant boost if Coleman does not play.

Mike Williams Reportedly Likely to Play

Mike Williams is now reportedly likely to play Week 1, although the team will monitor him pregame before making a final decision. This news is a direct contradiction of what was reported last night, but has been confirmed by multiple sources. Even if active, there has to be some concern about his ability to be productive with this injury, and a limited snap count seems likely. Williams playing would limit the upside for the lower options in the Chargers’ offense, such as Jalen Guyton and Joe Reed.

David Montgomery

Houston Texans

David Montgomery, Cordarrelle Patterson Both Expected to Play

Both Montgomery and Patterson are expected to play Sunday, despite being officially listed as questionable. Montgomery made significant progress this week after dealing with a groin injury throughout training camp. His availability would be a significant blow to Tarik Cohen’s value this week. Patterson should have a small role at best in the offense if healthy and active.

Schefter Late Night News: Mike Evans "has a good chance to play"; Mike Williams not expected to play

After being listed as doubtful earlier in the week, Evans was upgraded to questionable on Saturday and per Schefter has a “good chance” to play on Sunday. The Bucs are reportedly optimistic but will see how he fares during pre-game. His presence will make things a little tougher on Chris Godwin and Rob Gronkowski with another vertical/red-zone threat now back in the lineup, but it’s obviously a plus for Tom Brady. It has been noted that Evans may be on a snap count, so it’s probably not wise to expect a full workload. Chargers WR Mike Williams hurt himself late in camp and now is expected to miss the 2020 opener against Cincinnati. His absence should further spike the target share for Keenan Allen with Hunter Henry, Jalen Guyton and a combination of Joe Reed/KJ Hill likely to handle some extra work. Guyton figures to get the first shot at WR2 snaps. Hunter Henry’s TD upside rises without the big-bodied Williams in the lineup. The only other main notes from Schefter are that Devante Parker and Jalen Reagor will both play on Sunday, which has been the prevailing thought the last few days.

Deebo Samuel Placed on IR, Out at Least 3 Games

Deebo Samuel has been placed on IR, meaning he will miss at least three games. Samuel had already been ruled out Week 1, but this move is still a bit of a surprise.

Cam Sims Promoted to Washington's Active Roster

Washington has promoted Cam Sims to their active roster for Week 1. Teams can call up two players from their practice squad, making their active roster 55 players. Teams still have to declare inactives, so it isn’t clear if Sims will actually be active this week. Even if active, he shouldn’t be expected to have any role in the offense.

Miles Sanders

Dallas Cowboys

Miles Sanders (Hamstring) Ruled Out for Sunday

Sanders had been listed as questionable, but did not travel with the team Saturday and has been ruled out for Sunday. This should open up plenty of opportunity for the remaining running backs, with Boston Scott likely to benefit the most. Corey Clement should also see an increased role, while Jason Huntley could see a small amount of work as the third back. Huntley was signed just 6 days ago, so it is likely to be a two man show for Philadelphia.

Courtland Sutton, KJ Hamler Both Listed as Questionable for Monday

Courtland Sutton and KJ Hamler are both officially listed a questionable for Monday. While they have the same designations, Hamler is considered closer to doubtful, while Sutton will reportedly need to be able to do 10 jumping jacks prior to the game in order to play. Clearly his status won’t be known until game day.

Golden Tate, Levine Toilolo Questionable for Monday Night

Golden Tate and Levine Toilolo are both listed as questionable for Monday night with hamstring injuries. Both are likely to be available to play, although Toilolo isn’t expected to be a factor even if healthy. Tate was limited in all three practices this week, so he may have some limitations even if active.

Mike Evans (Hamstring) Upgraded to Questionable for Sunday

Mike Evans has been upgraded from doubtful to questionable for Sunday. His hamstring injury must be feeling better than expected today, and his odds of playing Sunday increase significantly with this upgrade to his status. Justin Watson and Scotty Miller would have benefited from Evans not playing, and they will take a hit if he is active.

Deebo Samuel

Washington Commanders
9/11/20, 5:38 PM ET

Deebo Samuel (foot) won’t play Sunday; Brandon Aiyuk (hamstring) listed as questionable

Despite optimism head coach Kyle Shanahan all week, Samuel has officially been ruled out of Sunday’s season opener against the Arizona Cardinals due to a foot injury that also forced him to miss a large portion of training camp. The 49ers are expecting Samuel to begin next week as day-to-day with a realistic opportunity of suiting up in Week 2, but his absence this Sunday will likely elevate Kendrick Bourne into the outside WR1 role with Dante Pettis and Brandon Aiyuk, who is currently questionable, vying for playing time on the opposite side of the field. Aiyuk may end up being a trendy daily fantasy option if he’s active, but there is plenty of target competition on this offense with Trent Taylor likely to see a majority of the available slot routes and George Kittle and Jordan Reed both more than capable pass-catchers themselves when the Niners line up in 12-personnel packages.

N'Keal Harry

9/11/20, 6:00 PM ET

N'Keal Harry (shoulder) listed as questionable Sunday; Gunner Olszewski (foot) ruled out

Harry practiced in full on Friday, but he’s still been listed as questionable on the Patriots’ injury report for Sunday’s matchup against the Miami Dolphins due to a shoulder injury. Despite the injury designation, Harry is fully expected to play in Week 1, something that can’t be said for Olszewski, who won’t play in the season opener, and his absence should clear the way for Damiere Byrd and Jakobi Myers to see all the routes on the outside opposite of Harry this weekend. However, the aforementioned duo would be fourth options, at best, in the New England offense since the running back committee, Harry, and Julian Edelman are firmly ahead of them in the pecking order for targets from Cam Newton.

Mike Evans

San Francisco 49ers
9/11/20, 4:31 PM ET

Mike Evans (hamstring) officially listed as doubtful for Sunday

Evans is battling a hamstring injury and is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints despite returning to practice in a limited fashion on Friday and participating in a few individual drills on the side. Head coach Bruce Arians originally told reporters that they’ll wait and see how Evans feels tomorrow, but he was either downplaying the severity or Evans condition deteriorated following today’s workout. With Evans unlikely to suit up, Justin Watson and Scotty Miller should be expected to split the leftover workload opposite of Chris Godwin and in the slot. However, the Bucs are one of several teams that are projected to run a substantial amount of 12-personnel packages, which could also lead to more routes for Rob Gronkowski and OJ Howard on Sunday afternoon.
