Chris Carson

Seattle Seahawks
12/11/19, 2:55 PM ET

Huge Expected Role In Favorable Matchup

Rashaad Penny tore his ACL and will miss the remainder of the season which means Chris Carson will once again have full control of Seattle’s backfield. Carson has been a workhorse this season when Penny has missed playing at an above 80% snap-rate and averaging 23.3 touches per game. In addition to Carson’s expected increase in workload, he gets a tremendous matchup against a Carolina defense that ranks dead last in rush defense DVOA and has allowed the most fantasy points per game to the RB position this season. Carson should be a staple of cash game lineups this week and his volume based upside keeps him in play in tournaments despite high expected ownership.

Contrarian Stack

Carson is a great play for Seattle this week, but he will also be chalky. There is potential merit to swerving to the passing game with Wilson and Lockett in GPP formats. It’s time for the squeaky wheel narrative to come to fruition. The Seahawks looked all sorts of abysmal on Sunday night against the Rams, and Tyler Lockett essentially vented his frustrations to the media by saying that the team is focusing too much on the running game and isn’t looking to go over the top offensively. Perhaps that poor showing in Los Angeles will cause a change to the game plan. The masses will be on Carson this week — and for good reason — but Lockett is an intriguing upside option in tournament formats. Hopefully this is the week that his 100+ yard, two touchdown upside shows through.
