vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.323 (Rank: 8) — Strikeout Rate: 22.8% (Rank: 28)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.332 (Rank: 9) — Strikeout Rate: 23.9% (Rank: 26)
Pitchers per PA: 3.81 (Rank: 12)
Analysis: Gallardo has pitched well in his recent starts, posting a 3.67 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 20.0% over the last month. While the Orioles do strike out at a high rate, they are also very good against right-handed pitching, ranking eighth in wOBA (.323) on the season. All in all, Gallardo is an underdog in a game that features a high total of 8.5 runs.
Pitcher Rating:53.0
Kevin Gausman : FD: $6,700 — DK: $6,200

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.307 (Rank: 20) — Strikeout Rate: 26.3% (Rank: 29)
Pitchers per PA: 3.79 (Rank: 14)
Analysis: Gausman is making his second start of the season, after doing most of his work out of the bullpen. He’s a sizable favorite tonight against the Rangers, but he’s not going to pitch very deep into this game, even if he is pitching well. The Rangers are a tough matchup anyway, as they are ranked seventh in wOBA (.324) against right-handed pitching. Gausman should be avoided in all league formats.
Pitcher Rating:48.0

Texas
Since the start of the 2014 season, Kevin Gausman has given up a .320 wOBA to left-handed hitters, with most of that coming in relief appearances. It’s always more difficult for a starter than it is a reliever. The Rangers offense is in a good spot tonight, as they get to face Gausman in the hitter-friendly Camden Yards.

Toronto Blue Jays Offense (2015)
vs. LH Pitching: wOBA: 0.374 (Rank: 1) — Strikeout Rate: 17.4% (Rank: 3)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.325 (Rank: 13) — Strikeout Rate: 17.8% (Rank: 9)
Pitchers per PA: 3.79 (Rank: 15)
Analysis: Miley has better numbers than you would expect, especially when you see his 4.38 ERA. Over the last month, he has a 3.44 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 21.8%. That’s where the good news ends though, as he draws the worst matchup on the board. The Blue Jays are ranked first in wOBA (.374) and third in strikeout rate (17.4%) against left-handed pitching. Miley also has to face them at the Rogers Centre, which is basically the American League’s version of Coors Field.
Pitcher Rating:51.8
Matt Boyd : FD: $5,300 — DK: $4,400
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 6.2 — SIERA: 2.79 — K%: 24.1% — BB%: 0.0% — FB Rate: 42.9% — HR/FB: 33.3%

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.332 (Rank: 9) — Strikeout Rate: 17.6% (Rank: 6)
Pitchers per PA: 3.96 (Rank: 2)
Analysis: Even though Boyd gave up four earned runs in his first major league start, he pitched pretty well and struck out seven batters. He has dominated at the double and triple-A levels and he has the element of surprise on his side, as the Red Sox are seeing him for the first time. Boyd is a risky cash game option, but he’s a favorite at home and he provides great strikeout potential at his price point. He’s worth a look tonight in tournaments.

The Red Sox are facing a young left-handed pitcher in one of the best hitter’s parks in all of baseball. They could easily be the highest scoring team of the night. All batters in this lineup are going to be in play, with an emphasis on the ones that can hit from the right side of the plate.

Pitchers per PA: 3.77 (Rank: 17)
Analysis: Even at his elevated price point, Scherzer is the premier pitching option on the board tonight. He has been unhittable over the last month, posting a 2.38 SIERA with an elite strikeout rate of 31.5%. Even though the Braves don’t strike out often, Scherzer should be able to cruise through this one. The Braves are ranked 18th in wOBA (.306) against right-handed pitching and a large part of that is thanks to Freddie Freeman, who is on the DL. Another complete game for Scherzer is not out of the question.

Analysis: Banuelos will make his first major league start tonight against the Nationals. He was once considered a top prospect and after a few down seasons with the Yankees’ minor league ball clubs, he has turned it around. In his 15 minor league starts this season, he has a 3.40 FIP with a strikeout rate of 20.1%. Keep your eye on Banuelos moving forward, but avoid him tonight against the Nationals.

The Nationals are an interesting offense to target tonight. They are facing a rookie pitcher that is making his major league debut. The Braves draw the worst matchup on the board, as they take on Max Scherzer, who has basically been unhittable for the better part of a month now. Kyle Gibson : FD: $6,200 — DK: $6,300
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 272.0 — SIERA: 4.18 — K%: 14.4% — BB%: 7.5% — FB Rate: 26.1% — HR/FB: 9.7%

Kansas City Royals Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.320 (Rank: 12) — Strikeout Rate: 15.9% (Rank: 1)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.318 (Rank: 17) — Strikeout Rate: 15.8% (Rank: 2)
Pitchers per PA: 3.67 (Rank: 29)
Analysis: Gibson has pitched well over the last month of play, posting a 3.10 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 21.9%. The high strikeout rate is a bit uncharacteristic for Gibson though and he draws a bad strikeout matchup against the Royals, who have the lowest strikeout rate of any team against right-handed pitching this season. He is an easy pitcher to avoid tonight on the road.

Chris Young : FD: $6,300 — DK: $5,500
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 234.2 — SIERA: 5.16 — K%: 15.8% — BB%: 8.3% — FB Rate: 58.2% — HR/FB: 8.0%

Minnesota Twins Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.300 (Rank: 21) — Strikeout Rate: 20.1% (Rank: 20)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.336 (Rank: 3) — Strikeout Rate: 18.8% (Rank: 11)
Pitchers per PA: 3.78 (Rank: 16)
Analysis: Since the start of last season, Young owns a 5.16 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 15.6%. He doesn’t provide much in terms of upside, which makes him an easy avoid tonight. He’s a large favorite in what is expected to be a fairly low scoring game, but with such a low strikeout rate, he can’t afford to make any mistakes.
Pitcher Rating:49.6
Batter Grind Down
Minnesota
The Twins draw a favorable matchup against Chris Young, but they still have one of the lowest team totals on the board tonight. If you are targeting any Twins’ bats tonight, target the ones that can hit from the left side of the plate.
