The Nashville Predators have won four games in a row and look to make it five here in Carolina tonight against a Hurricane team that has been mediocre at best so far this season. They have also won four of their last five road games which is a sign that the team is getting stronger despite their 5-5-2 start to the season. In fact they have only lost one game since then and are 9-1 in their last 10 games. Filip Forsberg, Ryan Johansen and Viktor Arvidsson lead the team in scoring as they are also used as the top line when Nashville has the extra attacker. The Predators have scored six power play goals over the last four games as Craig Smith and defenseman P.K. Subban round out the top unit. Forsberg has racked up 10 of his team leading 24 points over the last seven games while Johansen has lit the lamp three times to go along with six assists over that same time frame. Subban’s seven points over the last two weeks has helped him move to the second spot on the team in scoring with four goals and 14 assists so far this season. Smith is the easy one-off here as he not only gets exposure to the top line but will skate on the second line with Kyle Turris and Kevin Fiala. Smith’s three goals and three assists over the past seven games represents a little over half of his 11 points he has accrued so far this season. Mattias Ekholm and Roman Josi could be used on the back end as well as Josi checks in with 14 points on a team leadi9ng 74 shots while Ekholm has registered six of his 13 points over the last seven games. Carolina has given up 13 goals over their last three home games so look for a little scoring out of Nashville tonight.
Carolina will try and combat the top line of Nashville by using three lines that have the ability to put the puck in the net. The top line of Teuvo Teravainen, Sebastian Aho and Jordan Staal have combined for 11 goals and 18 assists over the last seven games and should be the line to target for your cash games tonight. Teravainen leads the team with 13 assists and 21 points while Aho is second on the team in scoring with 18 points through 21 games. Jeff Skinner leads the team with nine goals and has been recently placed on a line with Derek Ryan and Justin Williams. Elias Lindholm joins the top line when the Hurricanes have the extra attacker which makes him a candidate for being a one-off in all formats this evening. Lindholm has netted half of his six goals over the last two weeks as he skates with Brock McGinn and Victor Rask when Carolina is in a 5×5 situation. Justin Faulk and Noah Hanifin are the choices from the back line and to be honest, there is not much difference between them. Hanifin has lit the lamp three times to go with 11 points and 11 points while Faulk has collected seven points on his 66 shots on goal. The slight advantage goes to Hanifin as he and his Hurricane team mates will try to find a way to come away with a victory in front of the home crowd tonight.
