These two teams look about the same in terms of starting out on the wrong foot but seemingly righting the ship as both clubs have won their last two games. Look for Columbus to not change a thing after their decimation of the Stars in Dallas Saturday as Sergei Bobrovsky stopped all 32 shots in the 3-0 win. Matt Calvert, Brandon Dubinsky and Cam Atkinson make up the team’s top line but maybe we look at the second line tonight for a little cash game action. Nick Foligno and Alexander Wennberg have each had a hand in four of the Blue Jackets 11 goals so far this season. Add defenseman Zachary Werenski, who has collected two goals and three assists, and you have sixty percent of the Jackets top power play unit. This is pertinent because they have tallied four goals on nine tries with the man advantage while on the other side of the puck, the Kings have given up five goals while trying to kill 19 penalties. Brandon Saad and defenseman Jack Johnson saw the most ice time on the team’s top unit while on the power play.
Look for the Kings to keep their lines the same with Anze Kopitar centering Tyler Toffoli and Dwight King on the first line and Jeff Carter centering Tanner Pearson and Devin Setoguchi on the second. Pearson and Carter feel like the chalk here as they have combined for nine points so far this season. Pearson seems a bit miffed from his suspension as he has tallied four goals to go along with an assist in just three games. Defenseman Jake Muzzin and Drew Doughty join Carter, Kopitar and Toffoli make up the team’s top power play that has seen at least 60% of the ice time so far this season while enjoying the man advantage. Look for the Kings to win this one in a tough fought battle.
