Sports Info Solutions: MLB DFS Advice for Friday, August 24th

America’s pastime and daily fantasy sports are a perfect fit with an overload of data and statistics to analyze before making your lineup selections.
Because of the amount of information available to the DFS player, it can be a bit overwhelming, so I’ve tried to help you out by recommending a number of well-priced options by using Sports Info Solutions’ “SIS Model 3”.
SIS Model 3 gives DFS players an edge when setting their lineups as it uses the most expansive and accurate wealth of baseball data to create a tested DFS algorithm. You can learn more about the development of the algorithm in the RotoGrinders Marketplace.
Pitching Option
Rich Hill, Los Angeles Dodgers (FD Price $8,800)

This isn’t so much a vote for Hill, but a vote against the struggling San Diego offense which has managed to produce a league-worst .292 wOBA while striking out a lot (25.3 K %). Add in their best hitter versus lefties, Christian Villanueva (.463 wOBA vs. LHP), is on the DL and Hill is a viable pitching option.
Hitting Options
C/1B) Victor Martinez Detroit Tigers (FD Price $2,500)
Martinez has found his batting stroke, hitting .317 in August and faces Reynaldo Lopez, who has allowed a .401 wOBA since the All-Star break.
2B) Jed Lowrie, Oakland Athletics (FD Price $3,500)
As you would expect, Lowrie is at his best away from cavernous Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. He owns a .453 wOBA against RHP on the road. Conversely, opposing starter Jake Odorizzi is better on the road (allowing a .319 wOBA) than at Target Field (.348 wOBA).
3B) Jeimer Candelario, Detroit Tigers (FD Price $3,300)
He’ll face righty Lopez, who has struggled since the All-Star break (.401 wOBA). Although we prefer Candelario against LHP, we will take him here.
SS) Asdrubal Cabrera, Philadelphia Phillies (FD Price $2,900)
Cabrera has come through with big hits for the Phillies since the trade. He faces a struggling Ryan Borucki who has allowed a .373 wOBA in August.
OF) Jose Martinez, St. Louis Cardinals (FD Price $4,100)
Martinez hits both left and right-hand pitching equally well (.360 wOBA). He’s been hot in August (.400 wOBA) as he arrives in Coors Field.
OF) Matt Kemp, Los Angeles Dodgers (FD Price $3,100)
He’s not as hot as he was early in the season, but he is still hitting LHP at home at a .365 wOBA. Opposing lefty Clayton Richard is allowing RHB a .363 wOBA on the road.
OF) Michael Conforto, New York Mets (FD Price $3,500)
Normally we only use Conforto on the road, but Jefry Rodriguez is allowing a .425 wOBA to opposing lefties.
UTIL) Niko Goodrum, Detroit Tigers (FD Price $3,000)
Another play against Lopez and his .401 wOBA since the break, Goodrum owns a .330 wOBA at home.
Stacking Option
When it comes time to draft a fantasy baseball team in DFS, stacking is a widely accepted strategy. There’s a reason: it works. If you want to win big, you will need a gigantic score, and stacking makes it easier to rack up the points because the scoring of batters in a given lineup is interrelated. Batters reaching base allows the hitters down the line to drive them in, creating something of a snowball effect.
Detroit Tigers — An option would be to add Nick Castellanos to Martinez, Goodrum and Candelario.
