Sports Info Solutions: MLB DFS Advice for Tuesday, June 26th
America’s pastime and daily fantasy sports are a perfect fit with an overload of data and statistics to analyze before making your lineup selections.
Because of the amount of information available to the DFS player, it can be a bit overwhelming, so I’ve tried to help you out by recommending a number of well-priced options by using Sports Info Solutions’ “SIS Model 3”.
SIS Model 3 gives DFS players an edge when setting their lineups as it uses the most expansive and accurate wealth of baseball data to create a tested DFS algorithm. You can learn more about the development of the algorithm in the RotoGrinders Marketplace.
Pitching Option
Luis Severino, New York Yankees (FD Price $10,600)
Severino has been an elite pitcher all season (11-2, 2.24 ERA, 10.58 K/9). His average start lasts into the seventh inning, which will give him ample time to post a big-time strikeout total against the Phillies, who rank last in K% (25.6) after striking out 15 times in the first game of the series.
Hitting Options
C/1B) Victor Martinez, Detroit Tigers (FD Price $2,200)
Martinez can still hit RHP, particularly away from Comerica Park where he owns a .314 wOBA. The discounted price on “V-Mart” is one of the reasons we could afford Severino.
2B) Daniel Descalso, Arizona Diamondbacks (FD Price $2,900)
Descalso is putting together his best season yet, posting a .490 SLG and .358 wOBA. Those numbers rise to .497/.371 against RHP. He faces righty Elieser Hernandez (0-4 with a 5.12 ERA, 6.04 xFIP) who can’t get out LHB (.428 wOBA).
3B) Jake Lamb, Arizona Diamondbacks (FD Price $3,400)
We will add another lefty against Hernandez here. Lamb has feasted on RHP on the road (.381 wOBA) and as we previously described, Hernandez is struggling against lefties.
SS) Enrique Hernandez, Los Angeles Dodgers (FD Price $2,700)
Hernandez is swinging a hot bat. He’s smacked three home runs in the past two games and has already set a personal high with 13 HR this season. Hernandez has produced a .391 wOBA in June and owns a .430 wOBA against LHP in Dodger Stadium this season.
OF) Michael Conforto, New York Mets (FD Price $2,900)
Opposing starter Chad Kuhl has allowed LHB to post a .532 SLG and .369 wOBA against LHB, so Conforto gets the nod over preferred lefty Brandon Nimmo because the latter is dealing with a finger injury and wasn’t available to hit Monday night.
OF) Leonys Martin, Detroit Tigers (FD Price $3,000)
Martin’s production against RHP is 100 points better than against LHP (.357 wOBA versus .257 wOBA).
OF) Ender Inciarte, Atlanta Braves (FD Price $3,600)
One glance at opposing pitcher Matt Harvey data against LHB (.350 BA, .667 SLG, .438 wOBA) is enough to get Inciarte into the lineup. If we could have afford Nick Markakis, he would have been in there too.
UTIL) Travis Shaw, Milwaukee Brewers (FD Price $3,600)
Shaw is once again showing he can hit for power and all 14 of his home runs are against RHP (.381 wOBA).
Stacking Option
When it comes time to draft a fantasy baseball team in DFS, stacking is a widely accepted strategy. There’s a reason: it works. If you want to win big, you will need a gigantic score, and stacking makes it easier to rack up the points because the scoring of batters in a given lineup is interrelated. Batters reaching base allows the hitters down the line to drive them in, creating something of a snowball effect.
Atlanta Braves
If you can afford them, the four lefties at the top of the Atlanta lineup; Inciarte, Ozzie Albies ($4500), Freddie Freeman ($4800) and Markakis ($3900) would make a solid stack.
