No Segura today for the Diamondbacks
Segura is getting the day off today, opening the door for Phil Gosselin to lead off for the D-Backs.
As reported by: MLB Press Other tagged players: Phil GosselinJose Ramirez leading off, bringing unique combo of power and stolen base capability
Jose Ramirez can hit for power, finishing last year with an ISO of 0.131 against right-handed pitchers, and he can steal a base, swiping 6 bases off right-handed pitchers in 2015. Cameron Rupp is not a bad catcher, but Ramirez may still get a few opportunities to steal a base if the game is close.
As reported by: MLB Press and FanGraphsKris Bryant is back in the lineup for the Cubs
Kris Bryant is back in the lineup to face a Julio Teheran who fares much better at home. Teheran’s xFIP in 2015 was 3.70 at home, but 4.76 away. The game today is in Chicago, so DFS players should give the Cubs match-up a slight bump.
As reported by: FanGraphs and MLB PressMatt den Dekker leading off for the Nationals
Matt den Dekker homered the last game he received the chance to lead off and hopes to recreate that success against Carlos Martinez. Martinez has had success in his career, but more so against right-handed batters. He allowed a wOBA of 0,329 to left-handed batters last year, with an OBP of 0.339. Dekker serves as a viable value option at the front of a often potent Nationals lineup.
As reported by: FanGraphs and MLB PressDerek Dietrich batting third for the Marlins
Dietrich is getting more opportunity thanks to Dee Gordon’s suspension and he has taken advantage in a small sample size. His wOBA against RHP of 0.443 is sure to come down, but it may not be Wily Peralta who aids the regression to the mean. Of all of Peralta’s splits involving L/R and Home/Away, his worst wOBA is against left-handed batters at home, 0,355. The game is at home and Dietrich is a lefty. It would also be a good idea to consider Justin Bour to target Peralta.
As reported by: FanGraphs Other tagged players: Justin BourBilly Hamilton batting in 2nd today
Chris Stewart is catching for the Pirates, a average defensive catcher at best. Sadly, Jeff Locke is a left-handed batter who ranks in the middle for stolen bases allowed by a pitcher. While this battery is not necessarily prohibitive to Hamilton stealing a few bases, it is also not an exceptionally weak duo.
As reported by: Roto Grinders Batter Hub Other tagged players: Jeff Locke, Chris StewartRookie Timothy Adelman facing the Pirates today
Timothy Adelman exhibited fairly even splits in the minors in 2015, finishing the year with a 0.633 OPS against RHB and 0.657 OPS vs LHB, Starting batters against rookies is often a role of the dice, but know that the Pirates hitters should have an equal opportunity to ruin Adelman’s day from both sides of the plate.
As reported by: Baseball Reference Other tagged players: Josh Harrison, John JasoChris Sale will face 8 right-handed batters in the O's lineup
The Orioles have a wRc+ of 114 so far this season with an ISO OF 0.211. Chris Sale is not just any lefty, so he will try and raise the Orioles 21.6 K% this year to left-handed pitchers. The game is in Baltimore, so this could prove to be a challenge for Sale.
As reported by: FanGraphs and MLB PressOdorizzi and his reverse splits take on a Blue Jays team full of righties
Not everyone at RotoGrinders believes in reverse splits, but Odorizzi’s numbers the last two years are difficult to ignore. He has allowed 15 home runs to right-handed batters since the beginning of the 2015 season , compared to 3 against LHB. His 1.10 HR/9 this year aligns with his 1.59 HR/9 against RHB he posted last year. Since the beginning of the 2015 season, Bautista, Encarnacion, and Donaldson have ISOs of 0.302,0.269, and 0.260, respectively.

Lagares has entered a handful of games as a defensive replacement in the late innings, but he will get the opportunity to lead off today. However, he is facing Madison Bumgarner, so his appeal begins and ends with his spot in the lineup.

Roth tweets that playing this game comes with significant risk, considering he rated the game ORANGE. Liriano was on many DFS players radar, so it will be interesting to see how the weather affects his ownership.

Yasiel Puig is not in the Dodgers lineup, instead batting Carl Crawford and Joc Pederson 7th and 8th against Colin Rea.

Facing an average pitcher in Yodano Ventura, Seattle will bat Seth Smith in the 2-hole and Adam Lind 5th. Both players perform well against RHP and serve as value options, although they will be batting at Safeco Field, which falls in the worse half of ballparks for left-handed batters.

Derek Holland is one of those pitchers with drastic lefty/righty splits when it comes to allowing home runs. 1.85 HR/9 to right handed batters is what Holland allowed, compared to a 0.90 HR/9 to left-handed batters. Trout and Pujols are batting in the 3 and 4 position in the lineup and look to take advantage of the 74 degree weather in Arlington.
