Orlando trades Serge Ibaka to Toronto
The Magic are trading their offseason acquisition, Ibaka, to the Toronto Raptors for Terrence Ross and a 2017 first-round pick. Aaron Gordon and Jeff Green stand to benefit the most for Orlando while Ibaka will go to a contending team with depth. He’ll have to share usage with the likes of Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan but will be viable in the right match ups.

Tyson Chandler (sprained right ankle) will start tonight
Chandler will play in tonight’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans after previously being listed as probable on the Suns’ injury report with a sprained right ankle that forced him to miss one game. His return to the starting lineup will send Alex Len back to the bench to resume his reserve role. Chandler is an intriguing tournament option on the late slate considering he will need to be on the floor to match up with Anthony Davis and has carried an injury designation throughout the day, effectively lowering his expected ownership.

Terrence Jones (thumb) ruled out tonight; Alexis Ajinca will start
Jones will not play in tonight’s game against the Phoenix Suns after previously being listed as questionable on the Pelicans’ injury report with a sprained right thumb that has now forced him to miss three consecutive games. With Dante Cunningham also unavailable, Alexis Ajinca will draw the start alongside Anthony Davis but is not a particularly viable option in a game that should go small. The sample size is extremely limited, but in the four games Jones has missed this season, Anthony Davis has significantly outperformed his salary-based expectations in just under 38 minutes per contest. Additionally, Tyreke Evans will play after previously being listed as probable, but he will be limited to just 20 minutes of action this evening. His return to the rotation will likely diminish Tim Frazier’s role significantly, if not altogether, and also steal a substantial amount of usage from Jrue Holiday, effectively limiting his projected ceiling to some extent.

Williams will play and start in tonight’s game against the Boston Celtics after previously being listed as questionable on the Mavericks’ injury report due to an illness. This will be the second consecutive game Williams will start since returning from a toe injury, but he was limited to just 16 minutes in his previous start, making him an easy avoid in all formats Monday. Additionally, Yogi Ferrell and Seth Curry can both be removed from consideration as well.

Chandler will not play in tonight’s game against the Golden State Warriors after previously being downgraded from probable to questionable on the Nuggets’ injury report due to an illness. With Kenneth Faried, Darrell Arthur, Danilo Gallinari, Emmanuel Mudiay, Mason Plumlee, Jusuf Nurkic (trade), and now Wilson Chandler all unavailable for Denver, they become extremely shorthanded in the frontcourt, freeing up plenty of minutes for Nikola Jokic, Juancho Hernangomez, and even Johnny O’Bryant. In addition, Hernangomez will draw the start at power forward for Denver out of pure necessity. The top players to target from the Nuggets continue to be Jokic and Will Barton, while Hernangomez is now an elite option sans Chandler and Plumlee in the frontcourt rotation.

Klay Thompson will not play in tonight’s game against the Denver Nuggets due to a sore right heel. Patrick McCaw will draw the start at the shooting guard spot in Thompson’s absence but is not a viable daily fantasy option given all the other value available on Monday’s slate. Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green will remain the primary beneficiaries of additional usage in the starting unit sans Thompson. In fact, Curry leads the Warriors with a positive 9.3% usage rate differential (39.1%) with Thompson, Zaza Pachulia, Shaun Livingston, and David West off the court this season.

Green will available to play in tonight’s game against the Dallas Mavericks after previously being listed as questionable on the Celtics’ injury report with an illness. The Celtics have already ruled out Avery Bradley and Jaylen Brown, meaning Marcus Smart will draw the start at the shooting guard spot with Green and Terry Rozier being the primary guards off the bench for Boston. However, it’s not out the realm of possibility that Green doesn’t see the court and is just active in the event of an emergency. If that is indeed the case, Rozier becomes an intriguing option in tournaments.

Gordon will indeed start tonight against the Heat after missing Orlando’s past two contests with a bone bruise on his right foot. He should resume his typical allotment of minutes – somewhere between 25-32 – but doesn’t profile as a strong DFS play. He’s suffered a bit from the return of Evan Fournier and isn’t as intriguing of a target as T.J. Warren or Michael Beasley in a similar price range. Orlando as a whole is probably best left alone for DFS purposes on tonight’s 11-game slate, although Nikola Vucevic does have tournament appeal. In two meetings with Miami this season, Vucevic is averaging 21.5 pts, 13.0 reb, 3.0 ast and 1.0 blk/stls in 38.0 minutes of court time.

James Ennis starting in place of Tony Allen tonight
Allen will be rested and won’t play in tonight’s game against the Brooklyn Nets. In his absence, James Ennis will draw the start at shooting guard alongside Chandler Parsons on the wing. Additionally, Vince Carter should see some additional run off the bench and is a viable punt option in tournaments to go along with Parsons and Ennis given the fantastic pace up matchup with the porous Nets defensive unit.

Simmons will be available to play in tonight’s game against the Indiana Pacers after a one-game absence due to illness. Simmons has been consistently playing minutes in the mid-teens on a nightly basis, so his presence doesn’t have a huge effect on the Spurs rotation, but he will reclaim any additional minutes that Kyle Anderson saw off the bench in Sunday’s contest. However, neither forward is a viable option this evening.

Dion Waiters will play in tonight’s game against the Orlando Magic after previously being listed as questionable on the Heat’s injury report with a sprained left ankle that had forced him to miss three consecutive games. Wayne Ellington had been starting at the shooting guard spot in Waiters’ place, but will likely be sent back to the bench to resume a reserve role with Waiters officially able to play tonight. Additionally, Goran Dragic, James Johnson, and even Rodney McGruder will now see downticks in their usage and playing time, making them all easy fades at elevated price tags on Monday’s massive 11-game slate.

Chris McCullough will be with the team for tonight’s tilt with the Grizzlies. The team is likely bringing him up to have some extra big men against a team that loves to play big. No players are currently affected by this move but if someone is rested we’ll make sure to send out another update.

Allen will not play in tonight’s game against the San Antonio Spurs despite being absent from the Pacers’ injury report with right knee soreness. With Thaddeus Young already ruled out, Kevin Seraphin should step into the starting lineup at power forward given the matchup with San Antonio, who prefers to play big. However, with all of the other value available at power forward, it’s tough to make a legitimate case for Seraphin as a punt option in any format.
