DeMarcus Cousins OUT for Kings tonight; Ben McLemore still out as well
DeMarcus Cousins and Ben McLemore have been ruled out in advance of the Kings game tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Anytime Cousins is out it’s a bump in usage for the rest of the Kings. Per the RotpGrinders CourtIQ tool, Rudy Gay, Darren Collison, Omri Casspi, and Marco Belinelli all receive a 4% or greater usage bump when Cousins is not on the court. Be leary of Gay, however, as his fantasy point production per game is relatively the same with or without Cousins. The biggest beneficiary would be Kostas Koufos, primarily because of a huge increase in playing time (his usage is only 12%). He becomes a preferred value target at minimum price at both DraftKings and FanDuel. On the other side of the court, you have to like Karl Anthony-Towns’ match up even better with Cousins not playing. KAT should be one of the highest-owned players on the slate, however, so there is some merit to fading him in GPP’s.

Goran Dragic not on injury report; expected to play tonight
Dragic suffered a mild injury last night but is not on the Heat injury report and should be good to go tonight when they take on the Spurs. On a 12 game slate with plenty of PG options and a super tough match up against the Spurs, he’s best avoided for DFS purposes.

KCP will miss tonight’s game for the Pistons due to illness. Reggie Bullock is also listed as questionable by the team. Stanley Johnson will likely get the start and is an excellent value option at just under $4K on the major sites. Two games ago, Johnson put up over a fantasy point per minute in 31 minutes and while that production likely won’t be replicated tonight, if he can see 30+ minutes tonight he’s a relatively safe bet to at least hit 20 fpts. Darrun Hilliard should also receive some more run with KCP out but is not in consideration as a DFS play.

Those hoping to roster Bismack Biyombo as an elite value option tonight will be sorely disappointed as Jonas Valanciunas and Patrick Patterson will both play for the Raptors tonight when they face off against the Boston Celtics. Targeting bigs against the Celtics is always something to do for purposes of DFS as they rank 26th in PF DvP and 27th in C DvP and all three players are worth a look – it’s hard to know exactly how the rotations will work though so they are best suited for GPP plays only.

Head Coach Kurt Rambis stated that both Anthony and Seraphin would play tonight. Seraphin isn’t a viable DFS option but Anthony is definitely in play going against a Bulls team that is 26th in SF DvP and 25th overall in fantasy points allowed per game. If anything happens to change regarding the status of these two prior to tip-off, we’ll let you know.

Marvin Williams is hopeful to play on Friday against the Pistons. Williams missed tonight’s game with a sore ankle. Frank Kaminsky replaced him in the starting lineup and was able to play well. If Williams is not able to go on Friday expect Kaminsky to start again. Look for an update after shootaround on Friday.

Chris Andersen expected to play on Tuesday
Chris Andersen is expected to play against the Lakers on Tuesday. Andersen will be returning after a nine-game absence due to a shoulder injury. In four starts with the Grizzlies, Andersen has been averaging 16.45 DKFP, making him a viable punt play for the late slate. Ryan Hollins will likely go back to the bench with Andersen returning, losing most of his already low DFS value.

Andrew Bogut is doubtful for Wednesday’s game against the Clippers due to a toe injury. James Michael McAdoo started in his place on Monday and played about 18 minutes. McAdoo was not able to exceed value and is not recommended if he starts again. It is possible that the Warriors could go big to match DeAndre Jordan. Look for an update tomorrow regarding Bogut’s status and his possible replacement.

Chris Andersen has been downgraded to questionable for Tuesday. He was probable coming into the game, so we’ll upgrade his status when it becomes official. If Andersen misses the game, Ryan Hollins and JaMychael Green will see the minutes at center.

The Pelicans will start the same lineup for the second consecutive game. Jrue Holiday and Toney Douglas are the guards while Luke Babbitt, Dante Cunningham, and Omer Asik round out the frontcourt. Only Jrue Holiday did not exceed value on Sunday, but that was due to the fact his salary is elevated. Holiday scored 39.5 DKFP/35.4 FDFP, meaning he didn’t bust your lineup either. Look for the starters to all play over 30 minutes on Tuesday, trying to build some confidence coming off a victory over the Clippers.

Ben McLemore is expected to miss his ninth consecutive game on Wednesday. James Anderson started at SG on Monday, but George Karl has also had Darren Collison starting while McLemore has been out. Anderson did not take advantage of the start but will likely continue to start for defensive purposes.

DeMarcus Cousins is dealing with a bruised knee and is questionable for Wednesday’s tilt with the Timberwolves. Both Willie Cauley-Stein and Kosta Koufos have started this season when Cousins has been forced out of the lineup. Koufos is the cheaper punt play but both players are under $4k on both FanDuel and Draftkings. We should have an update regarding Cousins’ status tomorrow.

Norris Cole is expected to miss his eighth consecutive game due to a sore back. Toney Douglas has taken advantage of the opportunity by starting the last six. Douglas is averaging 31.83 DKFP in those games, leaving some upside in his $5,100 asking price. Douglas faces a tough defensive team in the Heat on Tuesday, making him a tournament target only. Tim Frazier will be used as the backup guard and is expected to play 20-28 minutes. Frazier is averaging 27.7 DKFP over his last three games and should be owned less than Douglas. Thus making him a viable tournament target at his sub-$4k asking price on both major sites.

Singler is still dealing with back soreness and will not play tonight. He’s not a DFS option even when healthy and his minutes will be distrubuted between several of the other backup wings (Randy Foye, Anthony Morrow). Durant, Westbrook and Kanter are the three top DFS options on the OKC side in what should be a close, high scoring game with the Rockets.

James Harden confirmed as playing on Tuesday
James Harden was questionable for Tuesday’s contest with the Thunder due to an ankle injury. Harden was able to participate in shootaround this morning, which means he should not be too limited. With the Rockets fighting for playoff positioning, Harden will likely see 36+ minutes. Harden’s iffy status throughout the day could lead to his ownership levels being lower than they should be on a four-game slate.
