Norman Powell

Chicago Bulls
2/02/16, 10:05 PM ET

Norman Powell to start for the injured James Johnson tonight

Norman Powell will be starting tonight and not Terrence Ross. Norman Powell makes for a good under-owned option at his mimium salary on DK. Powell should see about 20 minutes tonight and could even play in garbage time if the Raptors blow out the Suns.

Kobe Bryant

Los Angeles Lakers
2/02/16, 10:14 PM ET

Kobe Bryant expected to play on Tuesday

Kobe Bryant has not been confirmed as playing but Byron Scott says he expects Bryant to play. Outside of a last minute change, Bryant should be in the lineup tonight. Bryant is coming off a game where he scored 43.5 FPs in 23 minutes. With Bryant in the lineup Lou Williams and Jodran Clarkson have a lower ceiling.

Markieff Morris

Los Angeles Lakers

Markieff Morris confirmed as starter tonight

Markieff Morris has been confirmed the starter tonight and should see a good amount of minutes at PF. The Suns lost T.J. Warren for the season today and will likely use Mirza Teletovic at SF. Jon Leuer and Alex Len are the other backup bigs with Tyson Chandler starting at C.

James Johnson

Indiana Pacers
2/02/16, 9:15 PM ET

James Johnson confirmed out, Terrence Ross expected to start

James Johnson has been confirmed out tonight but we are still waiting for confirmation on Terrence Ross starting. Ross played 27 minutes last night and had 12 points and 4 rebounds in a blowout loss to the Nuggets. Ross is a viable punt option and good late slate play with his salary still at the level of a bench player.

Josh Smith

New Orleans Pelicans
2/02/16, 9:04 PM ET

Josh Smith confirmed the starter tonight

Josh Smith will be starting tonight for the suspended Dwight Howard. Smith is an elite punt and late swap option tonight with the Rockets down most of their big men. Josh Smith is a risky option still but should be able to at least hit value given the minutes.

Clint Capela and Montrezl Harrell both out, Josh Smith expected to start

Clint Capela and Montrezl Harrell will both be out of the lineup tonight and Josh Smith is expected to start for the suspended Dwight Howard. Terrence Jones should also see a good amount of minutes tonight with all the big men out for the Rockets. We will confirm soon who will be starting in Dwight Howards place.

Dwyane Wade

Miami Heat
2/02/16, 8:18 PM ET

Heat to start: Deng, Bosh, Stoudemire, Wade and Dragic tonight

The Heat have Hassan Whiteside out again tonight and will start Amar’e Stoudemire at center. The rest of the lineup will stay how it has most of the season with Wade and Bosh having the highest upside against the Rockets.

Tyreke Evans

Indiana Pacers
2/02/16, 8:00 PM ET

Tyreke Evans (knee) is doubtful for Wednesday

The Pelicans have listed Tyreke Evans as doubtful for Wednesday’s game against the Spurs. Bryce Dejean-Jones will likely get the start again but his salary is likely going to increase with this news already out. Dejean-Jones was able to make value but does not have a ton of upside against the Spurs. On an eleven-game slate, there are other higher upside value plays available.

Markieff Morris

Los Angeles Lakers
2/02/16, 7:43 PM ET

Markieff Morris may return to the starting lineup tonight

Markieff Morris has a chance to return to the starting lineup tonight against the Raptors. New Suns Coach Earl Watson said “I’m going to nurture and embrace Markieff Morris. I’m embracing him. We need him.” So it looks like he will have a longer leash than what Jeff Hornecek gave him and is worth a GPP roster spot tonight. Morris is still too risky to play in cash games but he does have upside that we’ve seen in flashes this season.

Ricky Rubio

Cleveland Cavaliers
2/02/16, 7:16 PM ET

Ricky Rubio is a top option vs. a weak Lakers PG defense

Ah, seeing the Lakers on a short slate like this just makes DFSers rejoice. LA is one of the worst defensive teams in the league at all positions. In fact, they rank last in DvP vs. PGs and SGs, and rank in the bottom 5 vs. PFs and C. All in all the Lakers are a great team to target players against them this season and Ricky Rubio is a solid option at PG today. Rubio is coming into the game in decent form averaging over 34 DK points per game in his last five, including two 40+ performances. Rubio has a unique ability to distribute the ball and create shots for others like none other. He should be able to take advantage of that as well as the matchup tonight and is a great GPP or cash game option.

Jae Crowder

Sacramento Kings
2/02/16, 7:27 PM ET

Jae Crowder (shin) available to play on Tuesday

Jae Crowder is dealing with a shin injury but looks like he will play tonight against the Knicks. If Crowder ends up missing the game or is limited Evan Turner would likely take his place in the lineup. Crowder has been struggling lately and has not substantially exceeded value in the last eight games. Crowder did have back-to-back 42 FPs games before his slump started but will likely focus on the defensive end and trying to stop Carmelo Anthony tonight.

Langston Galloway

Indiana Pacers
2/02/16, 7:10 PM ET

Langston Galloway starting again for the injured Jose Calderon (groin)

Langston Galloway will be making his fourth consecutive start tonight for the Knicks. He is in a tough spot as the Celtics are 1st in PG DvP but should still see the 30 minutes he has been averaging in the starts for Calderon. Galloway is no longer an elite punt option since his price has surged up but he still has a good chance at making value tonight. Galloway’s upside is limited with Carmelo Anthony in the lineup. Calderon is getting healthier and will try to make his return on Thursday against the Pistons.

Festus Ezeli

Portland Trail Blazers
2/02/16, 7:34 PM ET

Festus Ezeli (knee) and James Michael McAdoo (toe) out on Wednesday

Festus Ezeli remains sidelined with James Michael McAdoo. The Warriors have just been giving more minutes to Draymond Green in a small ball lineup to make up for Ezeli’s absence. Green should be an elite option against the Wizards on Wednesday coming off a triple-double.

Kristaps Porzingis

Golden State Warriors
2/02/16, 6:39 PM ET

Kristaps Porzingis has a high ceiling and is a GPP option tonight

Kristaps Porzingis is an anomaly in DFS, and while he is very inconsistent he does have that high upside we tend to look for in GPPs. I will preface this by saying that I am not recommending Porzingis in cash games tonight, but he does get the soft interior of the Celtics defense in a juicy matchup tonight. Boston is 27th in DvP vs. opposing PFs, and Porzingis will look to take advantage of that. Where he does have a relatively low floor compared to his price, he has the potential to explode for 50 or 60 DK points on any given night and we kind of have to play hit-or-miss with him. A matchup with the Celtics is also a big pace up game for the Knicks and the game will be played at a faster clip than what they are used to. Like I said, Porzingis is a GPP-only play tonight, but he has the matchup and the opportunity to crush value and have another signature Porzingis explosion tonight.

Trevor Ariza

Los Angeles Lakers
2/02/16, 6:27 PM ET

Trevor Ariza is a surprising beneficiary when Dwight Howard is out

SF is relatively thin tonight, and Trevor Ariza is looking like a solid option despite the matchup with the Heat. I know the matchup is not ideal, but whenever Dwight Howard sits Trevor Ariza sees a significant bump. In the last three games Howard has missed Ariza has averaged over 43 DK points per game. That is not to say he will do that again tonight because the Heat are very solid defensively, but they are missing some key defensive pieces in Hassan Whiteside and to a lesser extent Tyler Johnson. While they would not be matched up directly on Ariza, the defensive unit as a whole gets a slight downgrade with them out of the lineup. Ariza is fairly priced across the board and should see a lot of playing time tonight yet again. He has a decent floor because of his minutes as well as a high upside tonight.
