Evan Turner to try and play with a sore knee tonight

An earlier report noted as Turner unlikely to play tonight but after warmups he was able to give it a go. Turner is not a starter and could only see limited action tonight against the Mavs. Turner is a risky GPP option as he is an injured player that was hurt badly enough for his availability to be in question. Marcus Smart’s ceiling gets a little lower with Turner in the lineup. Turner has extremely struggled over the last five games and it could be due to his knee injury. Avoid Turner tonight in DFS and look at other options on the late slate.

Evan Turner (sore knee) likely to sit out on Monday

Evan Turner is battling a sore knee and will likely sit out tonight against the Mavs. Marcus Smart should see an uptick in minutes and makes for an elite punt option tonight. The Mavs second unit will have a tough time containing Smart and he should see nearly 30 minutes tonight. Smart is a poor shooter and produces with rebounding and defensive stats. The Mavs have been a terrible rebounding team all season (26th in total rebounds), so look for Smart to try and find an advantage there.

Andrea Bargnani ruled out on Monday

Bargnani has been ruled out tonight due to an ankle issue. Before he was injured, Bargnani had been averaging about 14 minutes over his last three contests. Bargnani’s absence will open up some more minutes for Thomas Robinson, who is a boom-or-bust GPP option today. The Nets face the Raptors tonight and might need some size if one of their big men get into foul trouble.

Elfrid Payton to start at PG with Oladipo out

Elfrid Payton will start at PG on Monday with Victor Oladipo out of the lineup. Payton lost his starting job due to his own injury recently, but will have an opportunity to run the show today and could presumably hold onto the role as it’s unclear how much the Magic want to continue using Oladipo at the point. Payton is a very strong DFS target today given that his price has dropped and he should be locked into 32-35+ minutes without any real depth behind him.

Patrick Beverley questionable for tonight

After missing last game with an injured ankle, Patrick Beverley is listed as questionable for the Rockets game against the Clippers tonight. If he is unable to go, Ty Lawson and Jason Terry would likely split the minutes at point guard. Neither of those two can be trusted for DFS purposes but it would make Chris Paul an even better play than he already is as the Rockets PG defense drops off significantly when Beverley is not in the game.

DeAndre Jordan (illness) probable for tonight

DeAndre Jordan is probable to play tonight after missing the Clippers previous two games with an illness. With Jordan out, Cole Aldrich had been providing very solid value as the starting center despite not playing more than 30 minutes in either game, but his value is basically shot with Jordan back. If Jordan ends up missing any time down the road, Aldrich will be a premier value play. Jordan himself is a nice GPP target on tonight’s short slate – both Brook Lopez and Dwight Howard are likely to be more popular so Jordan has some contrarian appeal in a game that should be both high-scoring and close.

Norris Cole officially listed as a starter

Norris Cole will draw the start for the injured Tyreke Evans this afternoon. Jrue Holiday will come off the bench and he remains the stronger target at PG, but Cole does provide solid value as a starter. He should see around 30 minutes of court time and is a great bet to exceed value with that kind of playing time. Holiday is the superior GPP target as he has a higher ceiling and may be a little less popular since he’s coming off the bench and is in a tough on-paper match-up.

Brandon Jennings will play tonight

After missing a good portion of the last game with a jammed ankle, Jennings will play tonight against the Bulls. He has yet to be relevant for DFS purposes this season as he’s only topped 20 minutes of playing time twice in nine games and has only topped 16 FanDuel fantasy points on one occasion. This news also means Steve Blake will likely not get any playing time as he’s been relegated to DNP status since Jennings returned.

Grizzlies to start Conley, Lee, Allen, Randolph and Gasol vs. NO

With Mike Conley back in the starting lineup, Mario Chalmers will move to the bench and is not a viable DFS option now that Conley is back. Alongside Conley in the starting lineup will be Courtney Lee, Tony Allen, Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol, which means Jeff Green and Matt Barnes will both play off the bench. Neither Green or Barnes are recommended DFS plays today; Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph are both squarely in play, with Gasol being the better play of the two. Randolph should see a slight uptick in playing time tonight (he’s been in the mid-twenties as a bench player but should see 30+ as a starter).

Tyreke Evans OUT tonight

The Pelicans have ruled out Evans with a knee injury in advance of their game against the Memphis Grizzlies tonight. Norris Cole will likely get the start and see a significant uptake in minutes and Jrue Holiday will also get more work as a result of Evans missing the game. While it’s not the best match up against a Grizzlies team that is 7th in PG DvP over the season (2nd over the last three weeks), both are in play as GPP options. Holiday has more upside of the two but also comes at a higher price tag.

Jazz-Hornets starters announced

The starters for the Hornets-Jazz game have been announced. The Hornets will start P.J. Hairston, Marvin Williams, Cody Zeller, Nic Batum, and Kemba Walker. The Jazz will start Gordon Hayward, Trey Lyles, Rudy Gobert, Rodney Hood, and Raul Neto. Gobert and Hood are decent options for the Jazz but avoid the Hornets as Gobert’s presence make the Jazz one of the top defenses (and slowest paced teams as well) in the league. They are top seven in DvP at all five positions.

The Wizards have announced that John Wall, Garrett Temple, Kelly Oubre, Jared Dudley, and Marcin Gortat will start for them in their game against the Trail Blazers. Wall’s price makes it tough to roster him but it is a good match up against the non-existent defense of Damian Lillard. Gortat is also an excellent option.

Evan Fournier looks for an increased role with Victor Oladipo out

Victor Oladipo has been ruled out for this evening’s game vs. Atlanta with a sprained right knee, and that should lead to a slight increase in playing time and usage for Evan Fournier and Tobias Harris. Harris will likely draw a matchup with Kent Bazemore and Thabo Sefolosha, while Fournier will likely have a slightly easier matchup with Kyle Korver. Atlanta’s defense vs. SGs is below average and Fournier will look to take advantage of that matchup this evening. Fournier will likely see double-digit shot attempts and around 35 minutes so he is a great candidate to fill in the hole Oladipo will leave. Look for Fournier to have a great opportunity to reach and hopefully exceed value today.
