Willie Cauley-Stein will start tonight for the Kings
Willie Cauley-Stein is starting tonight for Quincy Acy. Omri Casspi will continue to come off the bench for the Kings. Willie Cauley-Stein is a near minimum punt play tonight and could see extended minutes if he plays well defensively. The Jazz are not a high scoring team and Cauley-Stein will be matched up with fellow rookie Trey Lyles.

Jusuf Nurkic (knee) out on Friday
Jusuf Nurkic is being held out of Friday’s contest with a knee injury. Nurkic has only been playing limited minutes this season and his absence will open up some more time for Joffrey Lauvergne who did not play in the last game. Nikola Jokic is still the starter but the Nuggets have not been giving consistent time to their big men this season. Jokic is a GPP only play against the Heat on Friday

Mike Conley will miss another game with his Achilles injury. Mario Chalmers will start in his place again tonight and is no longer a punt option at PG. Chalmers is now $6,300 on DK and should be only usable in the turbo slate. Reggie Jackson will likely be the better option at PG if you were to play one from that game.

Kirk Hinrich will be starting in place of the injured Derrick Rose. Hinrich makes for a decent punt option tonight against the lowly 76ers. Hinrich will likely have his minutes capped at 20, with Aaron Brooks playing the rest of the game. Brooks has a higher ceiling than Hinrich, but Hinrich will be under-owned in a starting position.

Derrick Rose has a leg injury and will not be playing on the first night of a back-to-back. Rose is expected to play tomorrow against the Mavs. Kirk Hinrich will likely get the start for Rose but Aaron Brooks has the higher upside tonight. Brooks is a strong punt play on DK and an elite punt play on FD due to his salary being $3,700 there. The Bulls will likely keep Hinrich to around 15-20 minutes, giving the rest to Brooks.

Butler is dealing with a swollen ankle and should be used with caution tonight in DFS. His injury plus the fact that they play the 76ers should keep his ownership down tonight. Butler is a GPP play only but is an extremely expensive option even on a short slate. Butler’s confirmation to the starting lineup takes a little value off of Nikola Mirotic. While Mirotic is still a good play, his value can take another hit if Rose ends up playing. Rose is a GTD so look for something soon on his update.

JaKarr Sampson will be making his start of the season tonight against the Bulls. Sampson is a near minimum player and should be looked at for punt appeal. Sampson only has to score 18 FPs on DK to exceed value tonight on a five-game slate. The Bulls will look to rest players tonight which may lead to extended playing time for Sampson, due to a close contest. The Bulls just surrendered 54.50 FPs to Giannis Antetokounmpo and are 23rd DvP vs SFs, so look for Sampson to exceed value tonight.

Marcin Gortat and Kris Humphries will not play on Friday against the Pacers. Nene will likely start in Gortat’s place while Drew Gooden gets the extra minutes off the bench. Gooden has received 27 minutes in each of the last two games that Humphries and Gortat have missed. He is a GPP boom-or-bust punt option with his salary likely increasing for Friday. Nene received 25 minutes in his last game and has averaged 25.25 FPs over his two games.

The Pelicans received Anthony Davis back on Wednesday but lost Tyreke Evans due to a knee injury. If Evans was to miss, Jrue Holiday will likely get the start and faces a middle of the pack defensive team in the Hornets. The Hornets are 16th DvP vs PGs, so Jrue likely has a chance to exceed value if he gets a lot of minutes.

The Heat have listed Chris Anderson out with a sore knee after falling in yesterday’s game. Goran Dragic will continue to be out and Beno Udrih will start in his place. Udrih played 28 minutes but only had 8 points and three rebounds in last night’s contest. Gerald Green stepped up in Dragic’s absence with 19 points in 32 minutes. Green likely has the higher ceiling than Udrih for Friday’s contest again the Nuggets.

Jerami Grant not expected to play tonight
Grant has an injured right calf and is not expected to play tonight against the Bulls. Grant started the last game for the Bulls, so expect another lineup shuffle when starters are announced tonight. Robert Covington played 32 minutes the last time out for the Sixers and looks most likely to regain his starting position. JaKarr Sampson also has started games this season but only played 6 minutes in the previous contest. Once Grant has been confirmed out, we will have an update on who the starter is.

With Bass out of the lineup, Larry Nance should see upwards of 30 minutes and becomes a very strong value play tonight against the Warriors. Julius Randle is also a candidate to see more work, but Nance is the preferred play from a $/point perspective. A blowout is less likely to cause Nance’s minutes to drop since the front-court is now thinner than usual.

Green is questionable for tonight’s game against the Lakers. He’s not dealing with any one particular injury, but the Warriors have made an effort to get him some rest and it’s possible they hold him out again tonight. If that’s the case, Curry, Thompson and Barnes all become very strong plays. James McAdoo isn’t a fantasy option so his absence doesn’t have any real meaning.

Chris Johnson is probable to play tonight against the Kings. He wasn’t able to finish last night’s game due to an illness, but apparently things have subsided enough that he’ll be able to take the court tonight. His presence will eat into the playing time of Rodney Hood and Joe Ingles, but Hood is still a very strong target at SG on tonight’s 5 game slate. Johnson isn’t a DFS option.
