Hassan Whiteside will play tonight
Hassan Whiteside (illness) will take the court tonight against the Nets. He’s in an appealing match-up with Brook Lopez who has struggled to rebound over the course of his career, but Whiteside’s illness does throw a wrench into the equation. While his ceiling remains very high now that his minutes are consistently hovering in the mid-thirties, Whiteside’s floor makes him a tougher sell in cash games.

Wizards to start Wall, Temple, Oubre, Dudley and Gortat, Otto Porter off the bench
Otto Porter will come off the bench again tonight against the Clippers. This keeps both Garrett Temple and Kelly Oubre in play as value options, but neither are strong options in cash games due to the amount of value available elsewhere (Chandler Parsons, Taj Gibson, Jon Leuer, J.J. Barea). John Wall and Marcin Gortat are both elite plays against the Clippers in a game that is expected to be both close and high scoring.

Austin Rivers will be available to play tonight against the Wizards. His presence doesn’t hold much DFS relevance, as Jamal Crawford and Lance Stephenson (neither of whom are playable tonight) would only see minimal increases in playing time as a result.

Al Jefferson will come off the bench again on Monday, which leaves Cody Zeller in the starting five. Jefferson isn’t playable as long as he’s coming off the bench with an unclear minutes restriction, so Zeller and Frank Kaminsky are both still potential tournament options in a plus match-up.

The Pacers have ruled out C.J. Miles with a knee injury, which likely led to Lavoy Allen starting. Monta Ellis was questionable coming into the game, but the Pacers have noted that he will be playing tonight and will resume his starting position. Kyle Korver makes for an interesting punt option against a hobbled Monta Ellis. Look for the starters to play extended minutes tonight for both teams, in what projects to be a tight game.

Lavoy Allen starting over C.J. Miles tonight, as Pacers go big
With C.J. Miles being ruled out, the Pacers have gone big and will start Lavoy Allen against the Hawks. Allen has been playing well recently and makes for a seriously interesting punt play with his $3,500 salary on DraftKings. Lavoy Allen has averaged 17.75 FPs over his last 8 games, which would allow him to easily hit 5x. With Miles being out, Allen has a chance to get extended minutes, and should be able to exceed value.

Both Kobe Bryant and Lou Williams will be in the starting lineup tonight against the Hornets. After a hot four-game stretch from 12/12 to 12/22, Kobe hasn’t played more than 28 minutes in any of the past three games (in part due to a blowout) and his production has predictably dipped. He’s an interesting tournament play tonight if you think this game can stay close, but the Lakers are 12 point underdogs and have the 4th lowest team total of the night. Lou Williams is also coming off of a disappointing string of games, and he’ll also remain a GPP-only target for tonight. The Lakers as a whole are best avoided.

The Heat have ruled out Justise Winslow from tonight’s contest with an ankle injury. With Winslow out, look for Gerald Green to get an extra bump in minutes at backup SF. Tyler Johnson also looks to be back tonight and could see a decent amount of minutes backing up Dwyane Wade. Hassan Whiteside is still questionable with his illness and we should know during warmups if he will go. If Whiteside does end up missing the game Chris Bosh could be in line for a ton of minutes at the 5 tonight. Bosh struggled in his last game against the Nets, but has been on fire recently and should carry over his recent form.

The Kings have listed Kosta Koufos as doubtful which should mean that DeMarcus Cousins will play all the minutes he can handle tonight. The Kings do not really have any depth with Willie Cauley-Stein also out for an extended period of time. The Kings are projected to get blown out and with Koufos doubtful the chances have risen further. Cousins is still an solid option, but coming off a game last night where he scored 51 FPs, there is a chance he is gassed.

Paul Pierce will start at the 4 ahead of Josh Smith on Monday. Pierce is coming off of his best game in awhile, where he posted 20 points, 5 boards and 2 assists in just 27 minutes of court time against the Jazz. He should be expected to see somewhere in the range of 25-28 minutes tonight, but likely won’t regain the shooting touch he had against Utah. While he’s a viable value option, he’s not a core play by any means and his floor is still very low.

The Wizards have been dealing with the injury bug and have ruled out 4 rotation regulars again tonight against the Clippers. Otto Porter returned from injury in his last game but did not end up starting. Kelly Oubre and Garrett Temple have been receiving a ton of minutes with all the injuries to the Wizards, and they make for solid punt plays tonight. The starters haven’t been announced, so we could see a change again tonight if Porter returns to the starting lineup.

The Pacers have ruled out rookie Myles Turner as he recovers from thumb surgery. Look for Turner to make his return against the Bulls on Wednesday. As a rookie, it will be tough to recommend him in the crowded frontcourt of the Pacers. He should be able to get some minutes but will likely be limited as he works his way back into game shape.

Spencer Hawes has been ruled out of tonight’s contest with a back injury. Spencer Hawes was really only a GPP option, and with Al Jefferson back in the lineup was not really in the DFS consideration tonight. The Hornets rotation is in flux due to Jefferson’s return, but Frank Kaminsky and Cody Zeller have been playing well lately. Look for Zeller to start tonight, but it has not been 100% confirmed yet.

Evan Fournier has averaged 27 FPs on DK over his last 6 games. In the Magic’s previous meeting with the Pelicans, Fournier had a career-high 30 points and a total of 47.3 FPs. The Pelicans rank 26th in DvP against SG, which is Fournier’s actual position even though he is listed as a SF on DraftKings. With Victor Oladipo struggling, Fournier has received an average of 34.5 minutes over his last 4 games. Look for Fournier to come out firing in what should be one of the highest scoring games of the night.
Monta Ellis questionable for Monday
Monta Ellis (sore right knee) is questionable for tonight’s game with the Hawks. The Pacers have the 5th highest team total on the board and Atlanta is only a middle-of-the-road defense, so this is a decent spot for Indiana. However, the Hawks tend to struggle more on the glass, as they own the 2nd worst rebounding differential in the league. If Ellis plays, he’s a potential GPP target, but if he sits out, Paul George’s value only goes up. George has come back to earth after an incredibly hot start, but his price has fallen with his production and it won’t be long before he posts another 50 FP outing.
