James Conner

Arizona Cardinals
1/05/22, 7:38 PM ET

ARI RB James Conner and WR Rondale Moore returned to practice Wednesday; RB Chase Edmonds and TE Demetrius Harris DNP

James Conner and Rondale Moore returned to practice Wednesday, while Chase Edmonds and Demetrius Harris logged DNPs ahead of the Cardinals matchup with the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Conner looks like he is ready to make his return after missing the last couple of weeks with a heel injury. Conner would be set to split time in the backfield with Chase Edmonds (if available) with Conner handling most of th early down and goal line work and Edmonds playing a bigger role in the passing game. If Edmonds were unable to suit up this weekend, Conner would become the lead back and would need to be considered in most DFS formats. Moore also seems to be trending towards a return and should slot back in as one of the top three receivers for Kyler Murray. Moore has seen his targets fluctuate throughout the season but always has the potential to break a big play. Harris is expected to serve as tight end depth and his potential absence would not be DFS relevant. It will be important to monitor the practice status of Edmonds as his absence could make Conner an extremely strong play this weekend.

Will Dissly

Los Angeles Chargers
1/05/22, 7:29 PM ET

SEA TE Will Dissly (heel) DNP Wednesday

Will Dissly (heel) logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of the Seahawks matchup against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Dissly is expected to serve as the primary backup tight end to Gerald Everett but if he were to miss this role would be filled by Colby Parkinson. Neither Dissly nor Parkinson would be expected to see enough touches behind Everett to be worth considering in DFS contests at this time.

Darren Waller

Miami Dolphins
1/05/22, 7:13 PM ET

LVR TE Darren Waller returned to practice Wednesday

Darren Waller returned to practice Wednesday ahead of the Raiders matchup on Sunday night with the Los Angeles Chargers. Waller seems set to return this weekend after dealing with a knee injury for the last 5 weeks and then landing on the COVID list last week. Waller should instantly reclaim his role as the primary tight end and also one of the top options in the passing game for Las Vegas. Foster Moreau will return to his role backing up Waller and playing in two tight end sets and Hunter Renfrow should see some of his target share decreased. Waller will be a viable option on the showdown slate and can even be considered as a captain with the upside of catching multiple touchdowns.

Cam Akers

Seattle Seahawks
1/05/22, 6:29 PM ET

LAR RB Cam Akers returned to practice Wednesday

Cam Akers returned to practice Wednesday ahead of the Rams matchup against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Akers was able to practice in full today and HC Sean McVay seemed very impressed with his progress. It is likely that Akers splits snap this week with Sony Michel as he works his way back into game shape. Due to the split both backs will see their upsides limited, sapping their value in DFS contests. It will be important to monitor that Akers stays scheduled to make his return this weekend, as early last week McVay was also high on the possibility of his return before backing off later in the week.

Elijah Mitchell

New England Patriots
1/05/22, 6:09 PM ET

SFO RB Elijah Mitchell (knee) DNP Wednesday

Elijah Mitchell (knee) logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of the 49ers matchup against the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday. Mitchell has been given days off in the past to rest his knee, so his absence on the first day of practice ahead of an extremely important game for San Francisco is not too much of a concern as of yet. If he were to be ruled out however, Jeff Wilson would lead the backfield with Deebo Samuel and JaMycal Hasty also expected to mix in. Wilson would need to be considered based on expected volume, even in a tough matchup against the Los Angeles defense. It will be important to monitor Mitchell’s practice status as the week progresses.

David Johnson

New Orleans Saints
1/05/22, 5:56 PM ET

HOU RB David Johnson, WR Danny Amendola, WR Chris Moore, and TE Antony Auclair all activated from COVID list; WR Chris Conley (knee) DNP Wednesday

David Johnson, Danny Amendola, Chris Moore, and Antony Auclair have all been activated from the COVID list ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Johnson should reclaim his role in the Houston backfield splitting reps with Rex Burkhead, this split will limit the upside of both backs making them tough to play in DFS contests. Danny Amendola and Chris Moore should both slot back into their respective roles amongst the Texans receivers, neither warranting enough targets to be considered viable options in DFS this weekend. Auclair should serve as tight end depth and is not expected to be DFS relevant. Chris Conley (knee) logged a DNP Wednesday and his potential absence would not be big enough to have significant DFS ramifications

Jakeem Grant

Atlanta Falcons
1/05/22, 5:54 PM ET

CHI WR Jakeem Grant (ankle) DNP Wednesday

Jakeem Grant (ankle) logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Grant is expected to serve mainly on special teams and as receiver depth so his potential absence should not be DFS relevant.

Lamar Jackson

Baltimore Ravens
1/05/22, 5:51 PM ET

BAL QB Lamar Jackson (ankle) DNP Wednesday

Lamar Jackson (ankle) logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of Baltimore’s matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jackson has only practiced once over the course of the last four weeks and could be trending towards missing another game this weekend. If Jackson were to miss Tyler Huntley would be slated to start once again for the Ravens. With Huntley at quarterback pass-catchers should see a slight increase in expected volume due to Huntley not rushing as much as Jackson (though he will still run). Huntley can be considered in most formats after performing well on multiple occasions filling in for Jackson, though this is a tough matchup against the Pittsburgh defense.

Tre'Quan Smith

Detroit Lions
1/05/22, 5:46 PM ET

NOS WR Tre'Quan Smith returned to practice Wednesday

Tre’Quan Smith returned to practice Wednesday ahead of the Saints matchup against the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday. Smith is expected to reclaim his role as the number two receiver for New Orleans opposite Marquez Callaway. It remains difficult to trust the Saints receivers in DFS contests with Taysom Hill at quarterback.

Braxton Berrios

Houston Texans
1/05/22, 5:41 PM ET

NYJ WR Braxton Berrios (quad) and RB Michael Carter (concussion) DNP Wednesday; WR Jamison Crowder returned to practice

Braxton Berrios (quad) and Michael Carter (concussion) logged DNPs Wednesday, while Jamison Crowder returned to practice ahead of the Jets matchup against the Buffalo Bills this Sunday. There is optimism surrounding both Berrios and Carter so it will be important to monitor their practice statuses as the week progresses. If Berrios were to be ruled out, Crowder (expected to return this week) and Keelan Cole would be the top receivers for New York and could be considered in DFS contests as value options. If Carter were to be ruled out, Tevin Coleman, Ty Johnson, and Austin Walter would split backfield snaps but it would be difficult to project a true lead back. Coleman would be the most likely candidate and could be considered as a value option.

David Njoku

Cleveland Browns
1/05/22, 5:15 PM ET

CLE TE David Njoku (shoulder) DNP Wednesday

David Njoku (shoulder) logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of the Browns matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday. Njoku is dealing with a shoulder injury and if he were to be ruled out, Austin Hooper and Harrison Bryant could play a bigger role in the passing attack. Baker Mayfield has already been ruled out for this weekend, so Case Keenum will be under center but this isn’t necessarily a huge downgrade for pass-catchers in the Cleveland offense. Both Hooper and Bryant could be considered in an offense that relies heavily on its tight ends.

Nelson Agholor

Baltimore Ravens
1/05/22, 5:08 PM ET

NEP WR Nelson Agholor returned to practice Wednesday

Nelson Agholor returned to practice Wednesday ahead of the Patriots matchup against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Agholor is expected to reclaim his role as the number two receiver in the New England offense behind Jakobi Meyers. At this time, it is difficult to trust Agholor in DFS contests as Mac Jones does well spreading the ball around to all Patriots pass-catchers.

James O'Shaughnessy

Chicago Bears
1/05/22, 5:03 PM ET

JAC TE James O'Shaughnessy (hip) DNP Wednesday

James O’Shaughnessy (hip) logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of Jacksonville’s matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. If O’Shaughnessy were to be ruled out this week, Jacob Hollister could serve as the top tight end for the Jaguars and could be considered as a value option. It is also worth noting that Dan Arnold has been designated to return to practice and could return this Sunday. If he were to play he would need to be considered as Trevor Lawrence showed a connection with him earlier in the season.

As reported by: Jacksonville Jaguars

C.J. Uzomah

Philadelphia Eagles
1/05/22, 4:58 PM ET

CIN TE C.J. Uzomah (knee/hip) DNP Wednesday

C.J. Uzomah (knee/hip) logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of the Bengals matchup against the Cleveland Browns. The Bengals have already made it clear that they are willing to rest players this week if they are banged up so it wouldn’t be surprising for Uzomah to join this list. If he were to be ruled out, the tight end position would likely be split between Drew Sample and Mitchell Wilcox. Sample could be considered as a value option in DFS contests but it is tough to trust Brandon Allen getting him the ball enough for him to really make an impact.

Kyle Pitts

Atlanta Falcons
1/05/22, 4:49 PM ET

ATL TE Kyle Pitts (hamstring) and RB Qadree Ollison (quad) DNP Wednesday

Kyle Pitts (hamstring) and Qadree Ollison (quad) both logged DNPs Wednesday ahead of the Falcons matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Pitts is dealing with a hamstring injury and could be a huge loss for Atlanta this week. If Pitts were to be ruled out, Hayden Hurst would likely step into the primary tight end role with Lee Smith and Parker Hesse available to back him up. Hurst would need to be considered in DFS contests as a value option in an offense that heavily relies on its tight ends in the passing game. Ollison was expected to serve as running back depth so his absence would not be DFS relevant. It will be important to monitor Pitts practice status throughout the week.
