12/24/21, 12:15 PM ET

LAR TE Tyler Higbee activated from COVID list

Tyler Higbee has been activated from the COVID list and is expected to play this Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. Higbee should instantly reassume his role as the top tight end for the rams pushing both Kendall Blanton and Brycen Hopkins down the depth chart. Higbee has touchdown upside and plays in a high powered offense so he can always be considered in tournaments.

CIN WR Mike Thomas placed on COVID list

Mike Thomas has been placed on the COVID list ahead of the Bengals matchup with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Mike Thomas was expected to serve as receiver depth and his absence should not be DFS relevant. Trenton Irwin will likely slide into this role with Thomas gone.

Laviska Shenault

Buffalo Bills
12/24/21, 12:01 PM ET

JAC WR Laviska Sheanult placed on COVID list

Laviska Sheanult has been placed on the COVID list ahead of the Jaguars matchup against the New York Jets. With Sheanault out this weekend, Marvin Jones and Laquon Treadwell should have even bigger roles in the Jacksonville passing game and will warrant consideration as value options, especially in a great matchup with the New York secondary. Tavon Austin could also play a bigger role in the offense and could assume Sheanault’s rushing share making him a slightly more intriguing play.

Gabriel Davis

Buffalo Bills
12/24/21, 11:51 AM ET

BUF WR Gabriel Davis to be placed on COVID list

Gabriel Davis will be placed on the COVID list ahead of Buffalo’s game against the New England Patriots this Sunday. Now down Davis and Cole Beasley, the receiving corps will be led by Stefon Diggs and Emmanuel Sanders (expected to be able to return this weekend). After those two it gets a little more difficult to project. Isaiah McKenzie, Jake Kumerow, and Marquez Stevenson are all available and on the active roster. McKenzie and Kumerow figure to see the most snaps with McKenzie entering value play consideration. Diggs and Sanders are the big winners here as well as Dawson Knox who should all combine to see the majority of the targets in a difficult matchup against New England.

A.J. Brown

Philadelphia Eagles

TEN WR A.J. Brown expected to have a full workload Thursday night per Cameron Wolfe

A.J. Brown is expected to have a full workload Thursday night per Cameron Wolfe. Brown is returning to action after missing the last three games due to a chest injury. If this report can be believed Brown should see close to a normal snap count and help an offense that has been desperately in need of a big time playmaker. Brown should see a hefty target share against a weak 49ers secondary.

Elijah Mitchell

New England Patriots
12/23/21, 6:56 PM ET

SFO RB Elijah Mitchell (knee) officially inactive Thursday

Elijah Mitchell (knee) officially inactive for Thursday night’s game against the Tennessee Titans. Mitchell was ruled out yesterday, but with this being an island game it is worth relaying the information once again. Mitchell has been progressing with the injury to his knee but will be unable to suit up once again on a short week. It will be Jeff Wilson and Deebo Samuel leading the backfield for another week against the Titans run defense. Wilson and Samuel can both be considered on the showdown slate with Samuel having more upside due to his role in the passing game in addition to his work in the backfield.

Justin Fields

New York Jets
12/23/21, 6:15 PM ET

CHI QB Justin Fields (ankle) DNP Thursday; QB Andy Dalton returned to practice

Justin Fields (ankle) DNP Thursday, while Andy Dalton returned to practice in full ahead of the Bears matchup with the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday. Fields was held out of practice today after being limited yesterday with an ankle injury. This is not a good sign for his availability this weekend, and with Dalton returning HC Matt Nagy could elect to play it safe with the franchise quarterback and start Dalton against Seattle. If Dalton were to be named the starter Sunday, all Chicago pass-catchers would actually see a boost in their expected production due to the more traditional style of quarterback play of Andy Dalton. It will be important to monitor this situation tomorrow when the injury report comes out, though Fields could end up being a game-time decision if listed questionable.

Darren Waller

Miami Dolphins
12/23/21, 6:07 PM ET

LVR TE Darren Waller DNP Thursday; RB Josh Jacobs and WR Zay Jones returned to practice

Darren Waller DNP Thursday ahead of the Raiders matchup with the Denver Broncos on Sunday, while Josh Jacobs and Zay Jones returned to practice. Waller seems to be trending in the wrong direction once again to play this weekend after missing the last two days of practice. If he were to miss Foster Moreau would be the primary tight end but has largely unimpressed the past few weeks. The main benefactors in this situation have been the wide receivers and specifically Hunter Renfrow (outside of last game). If Waller were once again to be ruled out, Moreau could be considered as a risky value option and Renfrow would need to be considered in most formats. Jacobs returned to practice after missing yesterday with an injury and should be ready to go by this weekend. Jones also missed practiced yesterday but was able to log a practice today and seems to be trending in the right direction to play on Sunday.

Melvin Gordon

Baltimore Ravens
12/23/21, 5:59 PM ET

DEN RB Melvin Gordon returned to practice Thursday

Melvin Gordon returned to practice Thursday ahead of the Broncos matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders. Gordon missed practiced yesterday but this was likely used more as a maintenance day. Gordon should be ready to go by this weekend where he should play a large role in the offense. With no Teddy Bridgewater, the Broncos will likely lean on the run game even more than they normally do meaning more work for Gordon and Javonte Williams. Both backs can be considered at their respective price points but will limit the other’s upside. It will be important to ensure Gordon’s availability as the week progresses by checking his listing on the injury report released Friday.

Lamar Jackson

Baltimore Ravens
12/23/21, 5:56 PM ET

BAL QB Lamar Jackson (ankle) and WR Devin Duvernay (ankle) DNP Thursday

Lamar Jackson (ankle) and Devin Duvernay (ankle) logged DNPs Thursday ahead of the Ravens matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. Lamar Jackson is still dealing with an ankle injury and Tyler Huntley could be in line for another start after a phenomenal fantasy performance last weekend against the Green Bay packers. Huntley would need to be considered in most formats due to his tremendous upside and price. If Duvernay were to be ruled out, Sammy Watkins (if activated from COVID list), James Proche, and Tylan Wallace could all play a bigger role in the passing game behind Marquise Brown and Rashod Bateman. It will be important to monitor Jackson’s listing on the injury report that will be released tomorrow.

Tajae Sharpe

San Francisco 49ers
12/23/21, 5:54 PM ET

ATL WR Tajee Sharpe (foot) DNP Thursday

TaJee Sharpe (foot) logged a DNP Thursday ahead of Atlanta’s matchup with the Detroit Lions. If Sharp were forced to miss this weekend, Christian Blake and Frank Darby could be forced to play a more prominent role in the offense behind Russell Gage and Olamide Zaccheaus. Neither Blake or Darby would figure to be DFS relevant however.

Jamison Crowder

Washington Commanders
12/23/21, 5:53 PM ET

NYJ WR Jamison Crowder (calf) DNP Thursday

Jamison Crowder logged a DNP Thursday ahead of the Jets matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Losing Crowder would be a big hit to the New York offense that is already struggling as is. Braxton Berrios and Keelan Cole would become the top receivers and could be considered as value options this weekend. It will be important to monitor Crowder’s practice status as the week progresses.

Laviska Shenault

Buffalo Bills
12/23/21, 5:52 PM ET

JAC WR Laviska Shenault returned to practice Thursday

Laviska Shenault returned to practice Thursday ahead of the jaguars matchup against the New York Jets this Sunday. Shenault seems to be trending towards playing after taking an extra day to recover from his injuries yesterday, He should slot in as a top three receiver in the Jacksonville offense alongside Marvin Jones and Laquon Treadwell. If there was ever a time to consider playing Jaguars pass-catchers, this is it as they draw a tremendous matchup against the New York Jets lackluster defense.
