GB WR Davante Adams officially out Thursday

Adams was officially declared out as he was unable to clear the COVID-19 protocols for the showdown against the Arizona Cardinals. This was expected, as Adams was placed on the COVID list Tuesday and it was always expected that he’d miss the game. With no Adams, Lazard, or (likely) MVS, the Packers WR options are perilously thin. Randall Cobb should be the top option, while Equanimeous St. Brown, Malik Taylor, and Amari Rodgers will be doing their best to flank Cobb. It’s more likely that targets flow to Aaron Jones and Robert Tonyan, and also that the Packers run the ball more. If one of the Packers secondary options gets a touchdown, they’ll likely be close to the optimal lineup as they are very cheap for showdown purposes.

CLE WR Jarvis Landry says he'll play Sunday

Landry had picked up a new knee issue after playing last week, but appears to be healthy enough to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Landry himself said that he’d be good to go, so it looks like he’ll be out there as one of the top two wideouts along with OBJ.

Mark Ingram

New Orleans Saints

NO RB Mark Ingram expected to play Sunday

After making a trade for Ingram, coach Sean Payton said that there’s absolutely “a high chance” that Ingram makes his debut for the Saints Sunday against the divisional rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs have been a run funnel for some time, but Ingram won’t need the regular time that a newly traded player needs to get used to the playbook, as this is Ingram’s second stint with the Saints. He’ll likely take away a few early down opportunities from Alvin Kamara, but Kamara will still continue to have the lion’s share of the work.

WAS WR Terry McLaurin (hamstring), WR Curtis Samuel (groin), and WR Dyami Brown (knee) all DNP Wednesday

Terry McLaurin (hamstring), Curtis Samuel (groin), and Dyami Brown (knee) all logged DNPs Wednesday ahead of their matchup with the Denver Broncos. McLaurin has been dealing with this hamstring injury for a few weeks now but has been able to suit up every game so this is likely just a maintenance day. Curtis Samuel is still dealing with a groin issue and this is starting to look like a lost season for him. Brown was injured last game and is still not able to practice. It is still fairly early in the week but the practice status of these players will be important to monitor as some cheap receiver value could open up for the Washington Football Team.

Houston Texans will trade RB Mark Ingram to New Orleans Saints

The Houston Texans will trade RB Mark Ingram to New Orleans Saints according to league sources. Mark Ingram will be reunited with Alvin Kamara and should take some of the load off of him for early down work. Though this might be good for the Saints as a team this is not good for DFS players. Alvin Kamara will likely no longer be a three-down workhorse back and will lose some of his upside going forward while Mark Ingram comes to a better offense but in a lesser role. It remains to be seen if Ingram will be ready to go this weekend against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but it will be something to monitor as this week progresses.

NOS WR Lil'Jordan Humphrey placed on COVID-19 list

Lil’Jordan Humphrey has been placed on the COVID-19 list ahead of the Saints matchup Sunday with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Humphrey was placed on the list due to a positive test result, if he is vaccinated he could potentially return for Sunday’s game if he is able to get two negative tests separated by 24 hours prior to kickoff. If he is unable to do this or is unvaccinated Kenny Stills or Ty Montgomery could take the few snaps Humphrey was in line to see. Ultimately, Humphrey’s presence or absence will not be DFS relevant this week.

TEN WR Julio Jones (hamstring), WR Chester Rogers (groin), and RB Khari Blasingame (knee) DNP Wednesday

Julio Jones (hamstring), Chester Rogers (groin), and Khari Blasingame (knee) all logged DNPs Wednesday ahead of their matchup Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. The biggest concern here is Jones who has been limited so far this season, if he is unable to go A.J. Brown (coming off a big game) could see heavy usage along with Marcus Johnson and Josh Reynolds playing an increased role. Rogers would also be in the mix if he is available to play a larger role. It is early in the week, but this is a situation to keep an eye on as some value at receiver could open up if Jones is forced to miss this weekend’s contest.

T.Y. Hilton

10/27/21, 4:03 PM ET

IND WR T.Y. Hilton (quad) DNP Wednesday

T.Y. Hilton logged a DNP Wednesday after missing last Sunday’s game due to a quad injury. If Hilton is unable to go again this weekend, Michael Pittman, Zach Pascal, and Ashton Dulin would once again be expected to see extra work. Michael Pittman is likely to dominate the target share and it wouldn’t be surprising to see more two tight end sets to get Mo Alie-Cox and Jack Doyle the ball more. Pittman would become a much better play and the tight ends would be worthy of consideration as cheaper touchdown dependent dart throws.

ARI WR DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) officially listed as questionable for Thursday but expected to play

As expected, DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) has officially been listed as questionable for Thursday night but is expected to play. Earlier in the day, Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury when asked about DeAndre Hopkins availability said he might be a game-time decision but fully expects him to play. The Arizona offense has been lethal so far this season but could take a hit if it loses its top receiver in Hopkins. Hopkins is expected to suit up for the primetime game but if he were to be unable to go, A.J. Green, Christian Kirk, and Rondale Moore would all likely see increased targets and become much better plays on the showdown slate for Thursday night against the Green Bay Packers.

Deebo Samuel

SFO WR Deebo Samuel (calf) will not practice Wednesday but is expected to play Sunday; QB Trey Lance (knee) will be limited

Deebo Samuel (calf) will not practice Wednesday but is expected to play Sunday when the 49ers are set to take on the Chicago Bears. Samuel is dealing with a calf injury but HC Kyle Shanahan expressed optimism that he will be able to suit up on Sunday and should be good to handle his normal workload. If Samuel has a setback and is either limited or out, Brandon Aiyuk and Mohammed Sanu would be in line to see increased volume in the passing game. Trey Lance (knee) will be limited in practice but Coach Shanahan has already named Jimmy Garoppolo the starter for this weekend’s contest. If Lance is cleared to play, he could come in for a few specifically designed packages like we have seen him do earlier in the season.

GBP WR Davante Adams (COVID-19) not traveling with Packers; likely out for Thursday

As expected, Davante Adams is not traveling with the Packers for their game on Thursday night against the Arizona Cardinals and will likely be out. The Packers will also for sure be without Allen Lazard and could possibly be without Marquez Valdes-Scantling who has yet to be activated to the 53-man roster from IR. Randall Cobb, MVS (potentially), and Robert Tonyan should be the top weapons for Aaron Rodgers in the passing game and should all see bumps to their value based on increased volume. Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon are also expected to shoulder an increased workload as Green Bay may elect to focus on the run game more without its top pass-catchers. In the last few days a lot of value has opened up on the Packers side of the ball allowing for some intriguing builds for the showdown slate on Thursday night.

CLE WR Jarvis Landry (knee) and WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin) will not practice Wednesday; QB Baker Mayfield will practice and take starter reps

Jarvis Landry (knee) and Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin) will not practice Wednesday but Baker Mayfield will practice and take starter reps. Coach Stefabnski went on to say that he is not ruling out any players yet for Sunday’s contest with the Pittsburgh Steelers. If Landry and/or Peoples-Jones were unable to suit up Odell Beckham Jr. and Rashad Higgins along with the trio of tight ends the Browns employ could see increased targets making them better plays. Baker Mayfield is returning to practice after missing last Thursday’s game with a shoulder injury. While the injury is still present Baker believes he can play through the pain and start this Sunday. Though Case Keenum did a serviceable job against the Denver Broncos last week, all pass-catchers would see a boost with Mayfield under center on Sunday.

10/27/21, 12:04 PM ET

NYJ RB Tevin Coleman (hamstring) and TE Trevon Wesco (knee) won't practice Wednesday; QB Joe Flacco (personal reasons) won't practice until Friday

Tevin Coleman and Trevon Wesco won’t practice Wednesday and newly acquired Joe Flacco won’t practice until Friday. Tevin Coleman has been dealing with a hamstring injury, though at this point his role has been absorbed by Michael Carter and Ty Johnson and is not DFS relevant. Trevon Wesco is currently slated to be the third tight end for the Jets this Sunday behind Tyler Kroft and Ryan Griffin. With Zach Wilson expected to be out for multiple weeks, the Jets traded for Joe Flacco earlier in the week however he will be unable to practice until Friday and will not be available to start this Sunday. Mike White will draw the start against a tough Bengals defense that just held the Baltimore Ravens to 17 points. This does not look like a good week to play any member of the Jets in DFS contests.

Rob Gronkowski

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
10/27/21, 11:50 AM ET

TBB TE Rob Gronkowski (ribs) returns to practice Wednesday expected to play Sunday; WR Antonio Brown (ankle) not seen practicing

Rob Gronkowski returned to practice Wednesday and is expected to play on Sunday while Antonio Brown was seen with a crutch at practice. Gronkowski should return to his normal role as the Bucs top tight end moving O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate down the depth chart and sapping their value. Antonio Brown’s status is a little more uncertain for Sunday. If he were unable to suit up Tyler Johnson would step into the WR3 role but as we saw last game (2 catches on 2 targets for 16 yards) most of the passing attack will go through Chris Godwin and Mike Evans (both with at least 10 targets). Godwin and Evans would both become much better plays and would need to be considered in most formats.
