SFO RB Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) will not practice Wednesday; RB Trey Sermon (concussion) will be limited
Elijah Mitchell will not practice Wednesday but could still be available Sunday according to Coach Shanahan and Trey Sermon will be limited but is trending in the right direction. It seems that the hope is for both RBs to be active though Sermon has the better shot. It is likely that one of the newly signed backs will be elevated from the practice squad though it is uncertain which it will be (Kerryon Johnson, Chris Thompson, or Jaquez Patrick). This is definitely a situation worth monitoring as their could be some potential value options in the San Francisco backfield this Sunday.
As reported by: Matt Barrows Other tagged players: Trey SermonSEA RB Rashaad Penny will not play this week
Head Coach Pete Carroll has already ruled out Rashaad Penny for this weekend’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. Penny will miss his second straight contest which will mean a heavy workload for Chris Carson with Alex Collins also seeing some touches. The Seahawks found little success on the ground against the Titans without Penny though Carson was able to salvage his day with two touchdowns (13 carries for 31 yards) while Alex Collins only saw one carry. Carson will be the feature back, the only question is how much will he be featured. This Sunday’s game could once again be a high scoring affair causing Seattle to abandon the run game and attack Minnesota through the air.
As reported by: Gregg BellIND QB Carson Wentz DNP Wednesday
Carson Wentz did not practice Wednesday as the team doctors want to see how he responds to treatment after 48 hours. We will know more about his status tomorrow when the the 48 hour treatment period is over, Carson was seen walking today with no boot and no crutches and stated he plans to do everything in his power to be able to play Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. If he is unable to go Jacob Eason will likely draw the start.
As reported by: Joel EricksonCIN WR Tee Higgins DNP Wednesday, considered day-to-day
Tee Higgins did not practice Wednesday and is considered day-to-day ahead of the Bengals’ matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday. If Higgins were unable to go both Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd would likely see increased snaps and targets making them better plays albeit in a rather tough matchup. This is a situation to monitor throughout the rest of the week.
As reported by: Paul Dehner Jr.TBB WR Jaydon Mickens (hip) DNP Wednesday, considered day-to-day
Jaydon Mickens did not practice Wednesday and is considered day-to-day ahead of their contest with the Rams on Sunday. Mickens is not expected to play much of a role even if he does suit up but his absence could play a bigger role if Antonio Brown who was just placed on the COVID list is also unable to go.
As reported by: Greg AumanCLE WR Odell Beckham Jr. expected to practice in full Wednesday, could play Sunday
Odell Beckham Jr. is expected to practice in full Wednesday and if all goes well could be ready to return to game action Sunday when the Browns take on the Chicago Bears. With Jarvis Landry already ruled out for this week the Browns are in desperate need of a top receiver, it seems as though things are trending in the right direction for OBJ to fill that void. OBJ will likely be the top option in the passing game for Baker Mayfield who was forced to rely mostly on his tight ends last week after Landry went down with an injury. OBJ should be considered this week if he is cleared to play.
As reported by: Scott PetrakDET WR Tyrell Williams not expected to play this week
Tyrell Williams, who is currently in the concussion protocol, is not expected to play this week per Coach Dan Campbell. With Williams unavailable on Monday the team leaders in targets were T.J Hockenson (9), Quintez Cephus (7), D’Andre Swift (5), and Amon-Ra St. Brown (5). The Lions draw an extremely tough matchup with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday making most of their players tough to roster. However, Hockenson should be considered due to the fact the Ravens have given up the most fantasy points in the league to tight ends so far this season.
As reported by: Benjamin RavenNYG TE Evan Engram returns to practice Wednesday, could play Sunday
Evan Engram has returned to practice on Wednesday for the Giants and could be available as soon as this Sunday. If he were able to return he would likely return to his role as the primary pass catching tight end in the Giants offense moving both Kyle Rudolph and Kaden Smith down the depth chart. His return could also affect the volume of targets slot receiver Sterling Shepard has seen the last couple of weeks. The Giants take on the Falcons Sunday and Engram, if he is able to return, could see some opportunities against the Atlanta defense.
As reported by: Pat LeonardCHI QB Justin Fields will start Sunday, QB Andy Dalton not expected to be available
As expected, Justin Fields will start Sunday for the Bears and Andy Dalton is not expected to be available in any capacity. The writing was on the wall for this news when Dalton was forced to leave last Sunday’s game and was considered week-to-week with a knee injury. Fields is a much more intriguing DFS quarterback because of his ability to run however he draws an extremely tough matchup this week taking on the Cleveland Browns. This should limit his upside and likely makes him a risky tournament play only, especially with his lackluster effort filling in for Dalton last week.

James O’Shaughnessy has been placed on IR and will be eligible to return in three weeks. O’Shaughnessy played a large role in the passing game Week 1 as he hauled in 6 of his 8 targets and caught his only target in Week 2 before he was forced to leave due to injury. With O’Shaughnessy out tight end snaps should be split primarily between Chris Manhertz and Luke Farrell with Jacob Hollister seeing any leftovers. Jacksonville takes on the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday, which will likely be a tough matchup for the Jaguars.
TBB WR Antonio Brown placed on Reserve/COVID list
Antonio Brown has been placed on the Reserve/COVID list. In order to play on Sunday against the Rams he will need to remain asymptomatic and have two negative tests 24 hours apart prior to the game. If he is unable to meet this criteria Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, and Rob Gronkowski could dominate even more targets and Tyler Johnson could also see some increased playing time. This should be the toughest test yet for the Buccaneers as they are set to go up against an elite defense in the Rams and they could be without one of their top three pass catchers.
As reported by: Adam SchefterHOU QB Jeff Driskel promoted from practice squad
Jeff Driskel has been promoted from the Texans’ practice squad and will serve as the backup to Davis Mills when the Houston Texans take on the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football.
As reported by: Ian RapoportMIA QB Tua Tagovailoa (ribs) will not play Sunday
Tua Tagovailoa has been diagnosed with fractured ribs and will not be able to play this Sunday when the Miami Dolphins are set to take on the Las Vegas Raiders. Jacoby Brissett will get the start with Reid Sinnett serving as his backup. Brissett had a tough time filling in for Tua against the Bills but with a full week of practice with the expectation of starting on Sunday this weekend could be a different story. It is still likely that the Dolphins’ top pass catchers (DeVante Parker, Jaylen Waddle, Mike Gesicki, and Will Fuller) take a hit and could see less volume as Miami could elect to focus on the run game more to the benefit of Myles Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed, and Malcolm Brown.
As reported by: Adam BeasleyHOU QB Tyrod Taylor and WR Nico Collins officially placed on IR
As expected both Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) and Nico Collins (groin) have officially been placed on the IR by the Texans. This means Davis Mills will likely start for Houston the next three weeks including this Thursday against the Carolina Panthers. Brandin Cooks will be the Texans’ number one pass catcher while the debuting Anthony Miller should take over the slot role as Danny Amendola is supposed to unavailable to play this week. Mark Ingram should lead the backfield in what looks to be a tough matchup for the Texans with so many key pieces missing on offense.
Other tagged players: Nico CollinsCLE WR Jarvis Landry officially placed on IR
Jarvis Landry has officially been placed on IR by the Browns with a knee injury and will be forced to miss the next three games at least. The Browns are hoping to get Odell Beckham Jr. back this week where he will be immediately slotted back in as the Browns top receiver after missing the first two weeks of the season. With Landry absent the tight end trio of Austin Hooper, David Njoku, and Harrison Bryant should continue to see their fair share of targets (they saw a combined 12 of the 21 total targets from Baker Mayfield this past Sunday). It is likely that the Browns will continue to rely on their ground game Sunday when they take on the Bears, making Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt the top DFS options for the Browns this week.
