Raheem Mostert

Las Vegas Raiders
10/09/20, 5:27 PM ET

Raheem Mostert (knee) questionable for Sunday; Deebo Samuel (illness) expected to play

Mostert practiced all three days this week and has officially been listed as questionable on the 49ers’ injury report for Sunday’s Week 5 matchup against the Miami Dolphins due to a knee injury that has already forced him to miss two games. Meanwhile, Samuel is also listed as questionable with a non-COVID illness but is fully expected to play as long as he continues to test negative. Head coach Kyle Shanahan essentially said Mostert’s status will come down to how he’s feeling Sunday morning, and if he’s able to suit up, he’ll almost certainly cut substantially into Jerick McKinnon’s recent stranglehold on the backfield touches. McKinnon recorded a massive 92.3% snap share that led to 14 rushing attempts and eight targets in this past Sunday night’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Bryan Edwards

New Orleans Saints
10/09/20, 5:44 PM ET

Bryan Edwards (foot) ruled out for Sunday; Henry Ruggs III (knee) questionable

As expected, Edwards has officially been ruled out of Sunday’s Week 5 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs and will miss another game due to a foot injury, while Ruggs is listed as questionable on the Raiders’ injury report but is expected to play after practicing in full each of the last two days. Ruggs hasn’t been fully healthy since Week 1 when he accumulated five targets from quarterback Derek Carr en route to a 3-55-0 stat line, so it’s tough to gauge exactly how involved he’ll be in this offense with Josh Jacobs, Darren Waller, and Hunter Renfrow dominating a tremendous amount of the opportunity share through the first four weeks of the season. However, Ruggs’ presence on the field should be enough to force Nelson Agholor and Zay Jones into a timeshare at the other outside wide receiver position with Edwards still sidelined.

DeSean Jackson

Baltimore Ravens
10/09/20, 5:12 PM ET

DeSean Jackson (hamstring) officially ruled out for Sunday

Jackson was limited in practice all three days this week, but the Eagles have opted to be cautious with their veteran wideout, and Jackson has officially been ruled out of Sunday’s Week 5 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a nagging hamstring injury. Additionally, Alshon Jeffery’s activation from injured reserve will be delayed at least one additional week because of a non-COVID illness and will allow J.J. Arceaga-Whiteside, Travis Fulgham, and John Hightower to compete for reps at the outside wide receiver positions. Fulgham saw 64.3% of snaps, ran 21 routes, and was more productive on the field than Hightower in last Sunday night’s win despite the limited opportunity, so it would be far from surprising if he gets the first crack at Jackson’s vacated role in the offense this week with Hightower serving as the backup at both wideout positions with Jackson and Jeffery set to be inactive this weekend.

Julio Jones

Philadelphia Eagles
10/09/20, 3:50 PM ET

Julio Jones (hamstring) officially listed as questionable for Sunday

Jones did some individual drills on the side at practice on Friday, but he was a non-participant each of the previous two days and has officially been listed as questionable on the Falcons’ injury report for Sunday’s Week 5 matchup against the Carolina Panthers due to a hamstring injury. Head coach Dan Quinn previously told reporters that the team would rule Jones out if he was unable to push himself running this afternoon, so that was either not the truth or Jones showed enough promise to get the benefit of an additional two days to recover before a determination on his status is made. If Jones is unable to suit up, Olamide Zaccheus is the clear favorite to work as the third receiver outside opposite Calvin Ridley after he logged an 81.2% snap share and accumulated nine targets in this past Monday’s loss with Jones, Ridley, and Russell Gage all hampered with their respective ailments.

Lamar Jackson

Baltimore Ravens
10/09/20, 1:59 PM ET

Lamar Jackson (knee) returns to practice Friday

Jackson returned to practice in at least a limited fashion on Friday, and according to head coach Jim Harbaugh, he will be ready to go for Sunday’s Week 5 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals despite the Ravens taking precautions in managing his knee injury for the first two practices of the week. There’s still some uncertainty as to when Jackson sustained the injury or if it’s just general wear-and-tear, but now that he’s taken part in individual and team drills, any concern about his potential availability or effectiveness in this weekend’s contest should be quelled.

Alshon Jeffery

Philadelphia Eagles
10/09/20, 2:08 PM ET

Alshon Jeffery (illness, foot) won't play Sunday

Jeffery was limited in practice to begin the week, but he’s been away from the team for the past two days and will not play in Sunday’s Week 5 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a non-COVID illness. The news of this ailment will delay Jeffery’s activation from injured reserve at least one additional week and will allow Travis Fulgham and John Hightower to receive reps on the outside at wide receiver opposite of DeSean Jackson, who is questionable himself with a hamstring injury. Fulgham saw 64.3% of snaps, ran 21 routes, and was more productive on the field than Hightower in last Sunday night’s win despite the limited opportunity, so it would be far from surprising if he gets the first crack at Jeffery’s role in the offense this week with Hightower serving as the backup at both wideout positions if Jackson is cleared to suit up this weekend.

Leonard Fournette

Buffalo Bills
10/08/20, 7:25 PM ET

Leonard Fournette (ankle) active Thursday night

Fournette was among a host of Buccaneers that didn’t practice at all this week, but he’ll be active for Thursday night’s Week 5 matchup against the Chicago Bears despite originally being listed as doubtful on the Buccaneers’ injury report due to an ankle injury. There’s a strong possibility that Fournette is limited or just active in case of an emergency, which would mean Ronald Jones could remain the lead running back once again after seeing 63.0% of snaps while accumulating 26 total touches to along with nine targets in the win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon. Rookie Ke’Shawn Vaughn managed to amass a 21.9% snap rate in that contest following Jones’ struggles in the passing game and LeSean McCoy’s injury, so he’ll be an interesting option in single-game daily fantasy formats with McCoy, Chris Godwin, and Justin Watson all sidelined with their respective ailments on a short week.

Mike Evans

San Francisco 49ers
10/08/20, 6:41 PM ET

Mike Evans (ankle) and Scotty Miller (hip, groin) will play Thursday night

Evans tested out his injured ankle in pregame warmups, and both he and Miller will play in Thursday night’s Week 5 matchup against the Chicago Bears despite originally being listed as questionable on the Buccaneers’ injury report. With Leonard Fournette considered unlikely to play, Ronald Jones should remain the undisputed lead running back once again after seeing 63.0% of snaps while accumulating 26 total touches to along with nine targets in the win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon.

Lamar Jackson

Baltimore Ravens
10/08/20, 3:08 PM ET

Lamar Jackson (knee) doesn't practice again Thursday

Jackson didn’t participate in practice for a second straight day, but according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Ravens are only taking precautions in managing Jackson’s injury, and he is still expected to play in Sunday’s Week 5 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals despite dealing with a knee issue. There’s still some uncertainty as to when Jackson sustained the injury or if it’s just general wear-and-tear, but if he’s unable to at least log a limited session in Friday’s practice, it would certainly raise more concern about his potential availability in this weekend’s contest. If for some reason Jackson is unable to suit up, Robert Griffin III would almost certainly receive the starting nod under center and would be an intriguing punt option at the quarterback position on daily fantasy slates across the industry.

Mike Evans

San Francisco 49ers
10/08/20, 3:42 PM ET

Mike Evans (ankle) and Scotty Miller (hip, groin) expected to play Thursday night

Evans will test out his injured ankle in pregame warmups, but barring a setback, both he and Miller are expected to play in Thursday night’s Week 5 matchup against the Chicago Bears despite originally being listed as questionable on the Buccaneers’ injury report. With Leonard Fournette considered unlikely to play, Ronald Jones should remain the undisputed lead running back once again after seeing 63.0% of snaps while accumulating 26 total touches to along with nine targets in the win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon. Corey Davis

New York Jets
10/07/20, 6:11 PM ET

Corey Davis placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list

Davis has tested positive for COVID-19, and he’s officially been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, effectively ruling him out of Sunday’s Week 5 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, making him the 11th Titans’ player to do so. Fellow receivers Adam Humphries and Cameron Batson are also currently in isolation away from the team for COVID-related reasons, so A.J. Brown and Kalif Raymond are on track to be Tennessee’s top two wideouts in this weekend’s contest, assuming that it is even played at this point. The other player that could significantly benefit in passing the game, would be Jonnu Smith, who already has a 20.6% target share at the tight end position through three games this season.

Leonard Fournette

Buffalo Bills
10/07/20, 3:21 PM ET

Leonard Fournette (ankle) listed as doubtful for Thursday night; Mike Evans (ankle) and Scotty Miller (hip, groin) questionable

Fournette was among a host of Buccaneers that didn’t practice this week, and despite head coach Bruce Arians calling him a game-time decision for Thursday night’s Week 5 matchup against the Chicago Bears, he’s officially been listed as doubtful due to an ankle injury that’s already forced him to miss one game. This means Ronald Jones should remain the undisputed lead running back once again and saw 63.0% of snaps while accumulating 26 total touches to along with nine targets in the win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon.

Darnell Mooney

New York Giants
10/07/20, 2:50 PM ET

Darnell Mooney (shoulder) listed as questionable for Thursday night

Mooney was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, but he still has been listed as questionable on the Bears’ official injury report for Thursday night’s Week 5 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a shoulder injury. Mooney appears extremely likely to play, but if for some odd reason he’s inactive, Javon Wims and Ted Ginn Jr. would likely benefit from more route opportunities on the outside since Anthony Miller has almost exclusively played out of the slot to begin this season. Miller would likely see an increase in targets if Mooney is sidelined, but Mooney has clearly stepped into the more daily fantasy-relevant role opposite Allen Robinson after seeing 81.0% of snaps and accumulating nine targets in last Sunday’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Le'Veon Bell

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
10/07/20, 2:21 PM ET

Le'Veon Bell (hamstring) returns to practice Wednesday

The Jets officially announced that Bell been designated to return to practice off of injured reserve, activating his 21-day practice window and leaving open the possibility he’s active for Sunday’s Week 5 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals as he attempts to recover from a hamstring injury. There had been earlier reports that Bell is targeting Week 5 to return to game action, but given the nature of the injury and the presence of Frank Gore in the backfield rotation, it’s unlikely Bell would see a full workload right out of the gate. However, his likely availability will be a welcome sign for an offense that is slated to be without Breshad Perriman, Denzel Mims, and Sam Darnold for at least one more game as Joe Flacco takes over under center this weekend,

Kyle Allen

Buffalo Bills
10/07/20, 10:39 AM ET

Kyle Allen will start at QB for Washington in Week 5

Head coach Ron Rivera made a surprising announcement that the team plans to move forward with Kyle Allen as the starting quarterback for Sunday’s Week 5 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams and potentially for the foreseeable future. Not only is Dwayne Haskins being demoted from the first-team offense, but he’ll reportedly serve as the third-string quarterback behind Alex Smith and may even end up being inactive for this week’s contest. There’s always a chance Haskins gets another crack at the starting job once Washington falls out of playoff contention, and while Kyle Allen most certainly isn’t the long-term answer at quarterback, he may provide some stability with more accurate targets to pass-catchers like Terry McLaurin, Logan Thomas, and Antonio Gibson.
