RB Devonta Freeman (knee) will play in Week 5
Freeman is expected to be listed as a full participant at today’s practice and said he felt good which aligned with Head Coach Dan Quinn’s confirmation that he will play Sunday. The veteran Falcons back has been taking on his normal amount of reps in practice this week so it appears there will be no restrictions for him against the Steelers, meaning you can expect him to resume his 1A role in the backfield with Tevin Coleman taking the backseat again as the 1B. This would make sense for the 1-3 Falcons after Coleman struggled rushing the ball the past 2 weeks, going for less than 3 yards a carry. The Falcons boast nearly a 28-point total this week so Freeman is definitely in play at a moderate price across sites now that he’s full strength.

The Texans’ WR2 said that he expects to play Sunday night where he’ll take on a Cowboys defense that has excelled at limiting the big pass plays, a staple of Fuller’s game. However, he’s still seeing nearly 25% of the team’s target share this season and should find ways to produce attached to a 25 point team total this week.

Giovani Bernard is not in uniform and is walking to the rehab field again. Not a good sign for his playing status. The tables have reversed in Cincinnati where it now looks like Mixon will play and Bernard will sit. We will keep the news fresh leading to inactives on Sunday. Stay tuned.

Joe Mixon is practicing again today. It may be just in the nick of time as Gio Bernard is sitting out and looking highly questionable.

McCarthy: WR Davante Adams will work with the rehab group today. Injury popped up in practice. A little thin in practice. Good experience for the young guys to play all the positions. Not good timing on this for the Packers. They are very thin at WR. Stay tuned

Browns WRs Jarvis Landry and Antonio Callaway returned to practice today after being sidelined with knee issues. They should be good to go this weekend but we will keep this situation monitored.
As reported by: Nate Ulrich TwitterMerry Trio of Pass Catchers
UPDATE: Jones surprisingly showed up on the injury report on Friday. This is a situation to closely monitor on Sunday. Jones’ absence would solidify Golladay on FanDuel and make him a strong option on DraftKings as well. Golden Tate is a secondary option across the industry. // Marvin Jones is second on the team in targets but owns the highest share of air yards at 37.5%. His weighted opportunity rating is nearly identical to Golden Tate’s yet he offers a $2,000 price savings from the slot man on DK. On FanDuel, Kenny Golladay is the cheapest option of the trio. Golladay is third in target share but second in market share of air yards at 30.3%. That type of usage is valuable for a wide receiver on a team that has thrown the ball an average of 40+ times per game. I consider MJJ a core play on DK because of his price discount and Golladay a core play on FD.
Other tagged players: Kenny GolladayHeavy Involvement
James Conner hasn’t been nearly as involved the last few weeks as he was in Week 1 but he’s still seeing five targets a game and handling nearly 90% of Pittsburgh’s running back carries. Rostering pass catching running backs against the Falcons terrible defense has worked well this season as Atlanta has allowed a total of 33 receptions and 253 yards to RB’s over the last three weeks. Conner should continue to be involved in the Steelers passing game and would see an increase in carries if Pittsburgh is working with a lead. In cash games we’re looking for running backs that will see work regardless of game script and Conner fits that bill – he’s a core play for me this week.
Bell-Cow Off a Bye
Christian McCaffrey gets a favorable matchup against a Giants defense that ranks 29th in rush DVOA this season. McCaffrey should be well rested coming off a bye week and should continue to handle nearly all of the Panthers running back touches. McCaffrey has yet to score a touchdown on the year yet is still averaging 23.3 DK points per game. McCaffrey’s 27.7% target share gives him such a high floor that he’s hard to pass up as a core play this week.
Usage Patterns, Great Matchup
Here we go again with Leonard Fournette. Fournette has tried to play in two games this season and has been unable to finish both contests. In the games Fournette was unable to finish, Yeldon took over nearly 100% of the running back duties out-carrying Corey Grant 32-to-2 and out-targeting Grant 10-to-3. In the two games that Fournette was declared out prior to the start, Yeldon only out-carried Grant 17-to-10 and out-targeted targeted Grant 12-to-9. This would seem to suggest that when given the time to gameplan for Fournette’s absence, the Jaguars running back workload starts to even out between Yeldon and Grant. While this trend is concerning, I think a matchup against the 32nd ranked defense in rush DVOA trumps usage concerns and I’m still considering Yeldon a core play for his price tag. However, usage concerns do make Yeldon a fine GPP fade and even bring Grant into GPP consideration.
Marquise Goodwin Does Not Practice
Goodwin didn’t practice and Matt Breida was limited. We will monitor these injuries into the weekend.
