Good chance Josh Gordon (hamstring) plays Sunday
Josh Gordon was able to log limited practices all week long, and appears on track to play Sunday against the Dolphins. Keep expectations in check for his Patriots debut as it is yet to be determined to what degree he will be utilized from the get-go in this Patriots offense, although they definitely could use a spark after looking offensively stagnant for the first three weeks of the season.
Cole Beasley (ankle) expected to play Sunday
Cole Beasley (ankle) is expected to suit up Sunday against the Lions. That said, Ezekiel Elliot is really the only part of the Cowboys offense that has shown himself to be worth rostering thus far this season, so expectations for Beasley remain low.
Marlon Mack (hamstring) not expected to play Sunday
Despite logging three limited practices this week, it does not appear that Marlon Mack will suit up Sunday against the Texans. This leaves Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines to lead the Colts rushing attack, although they did call up practice squad running back Jeremy McNichols as well. None of these options are in a particularly great spot against a solid Texans defensive line, so probably best to avoid this murky backfield today when there are so many better options.
Alshon Jeffery a game-time decision Sunday
Though it appeared Alshon Jeffery was set to make his 2018 debut today, an illness has left him as a true game-time decision Sunday. It is worth noting that he was only able to log one practice this week, meaning it wouldn’t be shocking if the Eagles opted to rest Jeffery one more week. If he were to sit, consider a bump to Nelson Agholar and Zach Ertz, who will both see an even greater target share than usual.
DeAndre Hopkins expected to play Sunday, as expected.
Despite popping up on the injury report for various ailments including an ankle, knee and thumb injury, it appears Hopkins will be a full go Sunday against the Colts. Look for he and Will Fuller to get the majority of the targets from DeShaun Watson, per usual.
Doug Baldwin (knee) expected to play Sunday
Doug Baldwin is expected to suit up Sunday against the Cardinals, which aligns with various reports throughout the week suggesting he would play. This is obviously a bump to Russel Wilson, although it may be best to take a wait-and-see approach on Baldwin himself until we know if he is capable of handling a full work load coming off missing the past two weeks due to his knee injury.
Schefter: 49ers’ running backs Matt Breida and Alfred Morris (Q) are expected to play vs. Chargers barring any setbacks. Breida was further along physically at end of week than Morris, but both expected to play
Per Adam Schefter, 49ers’ running backs Matt Breida and Alfred Morris (Q) are expected to play vs. Chargers barring any setbacks. Breida was further along physically at end of the week than Morris, but both are expected to go. This has been the prevailing thought throughout the week despite the two being listed as questionable, so this doesn’t come as much of a surprise. It is worth noting that Breida was further along than Morris physically, as that could bode well for Breida from a workload perspective.
As reported by: Adam Schefter Other tagged players: Alfred MorrisSchefter Late-Night Hammer: LeSean McCoy will play Sunday; Leonard Fournette, Keenan Allen both expected to play; Ryan Fitzpatrick expected to start
Schefter is out a bit early this evening as he’s hit us with some news right at the stroke of midnight. LeSean McCoy will play Sunday against the Packers, which has been expected throughout the course of the week. Chris Ivory and Marcus Murphy will go back into change-of-pace roles. Leonard Fournette is expected to return to the Jags lineup for Week 4, but that was also the prevailing thought at times last week, so we’ll still want to confirm his status when inactives are released. Keenan Allen is expected to suit up and is one of the better bounce-back GPP candidates on the board at WR. Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to get the nod at QB for the Bucs despite Jameis Winston being actived, which isn’t surprising given how strongly Tampa has come out of the gate offensively. Still, it’s a tough draw for Fitzpatrick and he’s not an advisable DFS play this weekend.
As reported by: Adam SchefterRandall Cobb doesn't practice Saturday, questionable for Sunday
Randall Cobb missed practice Saturday due to a hamstring injury, and is questionable for Sunday’s matchup against the Bills. If Cobb were to miss look for Geronimo Allison to possibly run some routes out of the slot, and Ty Montgomery to get some reps there as well as he did last year when Cobb was injured.
WR Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) questionable for Sunday
The Cardinals’ veteran WR1 will likely be out there on Sunday but at less than 100% once again. Last week, Fitzgerald saw only 2 targets against the Bears in a game he entered under similar circumstances. This makes him a very dicey play this week despite the cheap $5K price tag on DraftKings. However with QB Josh Rosen taking over, perhaps Fitz gets closer to double digit targets this week as a security blanket for the rookie, even at less than full strength. Rookie wideout Christian Kirk emerged with 7 catches for 90 yards last week and would be a solid value target were Fitz to miss Week 4.
As reported by: Kyle Odegard Other tagged players: Christian KirkWR Josh Gordon (hamstring) questionable for Sunday; TE Rob Gronkowski (ankle) questionable but expected to play
Gordon has been limited in practice since joining the Patriots. He’s desperately needed for a struggling Patriots offense still missing WR Julian Edelman but this may come down to whether he’s mastered the playbook yet. Regardless, Xavien Howard has been lights out against WR1’s lately and Gordon figures to draw his coverage if active. The former Browns receiver would still open things up for the likes of Chris Hogan and Rob Gronkowksi on Sunday. Gronkowski is in a nice bounce-back spot against a Dolphins defense that has traditionally been very giving to tight ends and not been challenged much in that department so far this year.
As reported by: Armando Salguero Other tagged players: Rob GronkowskiRB's Matt Breida and Alfred Morris are both questionable for Sunday
Breida practiced in full on Friday and is expected to be a game-time decision on Sunday. Morris also seems truly questionable as he was a mid-week addition to the injury report. Regardless of whether Morris plays, Sunday’s matchup sets up better for Breida with the 49ers being 10-point underdogs and C.J. Beathard behind center, who frequently checked down to his running back in his previous starts.
Other tagged players: Alfred MorrisWR Golden Tate (hip) now questionable for Sunday
This comes as a surprise as there was no news of an injury or limited practices prior to Friday. Fellow wideouts Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones would see substantial increases in their projections as Tate leads the team in targets. T.J. Jones would slide in as the WR3 but be a minimal factor.
WR Travis Benjamin (foot) questionable for Sunday
Benjamin got in limited practices this week so he may have a decent chance at playing. During his absence Mike Williams has emerged as the Chargers second-best receiving threat and seen nearly 70% of snaps. That percentage could dip with Benjamin back but Williams would still play ahead of him.
As reported by: @Chargers Other tagged players: Mike WilliamsWR Keenan Allen (knee) questionable for Week 4
The Chargers’ best receiver returned to practice on Friday so he’s on the right side of questionable for what would be a pristine matchup against a 49er’s secondary missing CB Richard Sherman. The Chargers are projected for more than 4 touchdowns on Sunday, though if Allen plays he may need to do his damage in the first 3 quarters given blowout potential with QB C.J. Beathard on the other side for San Francisco.
