Finnish rookie in prime spot to produce
Roope Hintz may be pointless this month, but he is seeing consistent ice time on the top line alongside Tyler Seguin and Alexander Radulov. Hintz closed March with a goal in back to back games, and though a road spot in Buffalo seems intimidating, the Sabres have been gashed after the All-Star break, allowing a league-high 3.78 goals against per game. Hintz checks in at under $4,000 on DraftKings and FanDuel which make him and his linemates an affordable, likely overlooked stack in tournaments.
St. Louis winger climbing the depth chart
Nineteen year old Robert Thomas has 25 points in 56 games while averaging under 13 minutes of ice time, seeing mostly time on the fourth line. However, in March, Thomas is up to 15 minutes a game and he has made the most of it, potting a pair of goals and dishing out three assists in five games. With Vladimir Tarasenko injured, Robert Thomas should see another 15-16 minutes of ice time in a favorable situational spot tonight. Thomas is just $2,800 on DraftKings and a reasonable $3,700 on FanDuel despite skating on the top line with Ryan O’Reilly and Brayden Schenn. Save some salary with this St. Louis rookie.
This winger will need to be elite for his team to make the playoffs
Cam Atkinson has become one of the more underrated goal-scorers in the NHL. He’s played primarily on the opposite side of Artemi Panarin with Pierre-Luc Duboic down the middle. The Columbus Blue Jackets are making their push for a Wild Card position and this line is going to be elite over the next few weeks to get in. They’re taking on the New York Islanders, a team that has been one of the more elite teams for the most part this season with their goaltending saving them this season. However, the last four weeks haven’t been pretty as the Islanders have a 30th ranked 45.09 CF% and given up a 60.48 CA/60 which is the 7th-most over that period.

Leon Draisaitl certainly benefits from playing alongside Connor McDavid, as anybody else would, but he is still a great player in a vacuum. Tonight the two are joined by Zack Kassian on the top line for the Edmonton Oilers as they host the lowly New York Rangers. Over the last four weeks, the Rangers sit 26th with a 47.48 CF% and are giving up a 62.26 CA/60 which is the fourth-worst in the NHL. Draisaitl has 41 goals which has smashed his previous career-high of 29 goals. He and Connor play on the top power play unit together so a mini-stack is definitely in play with elite upside.

Since February 1st, the San Jose Sharks PP has converted at a 27.9 percent clip — tied for the second best over that time. Their opponents — the Minnesota Wild — have a league-worst PK over that time with an abysmal 69 percent success rate. This is noteworthy as Joe Pavelski, Logan Couture and Timo Meier play together at even strength and Pavelski and Couture are both on the top power play unit which gives the two-man mini-stack some intrigue.

Zack Kassian will be the popular choice in McDavid and Draisaitl stacks, but if you are looking for some differentiation, pivoting to Alex Chiasson makes sense as Alex gets power play time. After not potting a goal in all of February, Chiasson has found his scoring touch again this month with two goals on nine shots. Chiasson checks in at $3,900 on both DraftKings and FanDuel, making him an under the radar option in tournaments given the likelihood a red-hot Kassian will be popular at just $3,000 on DraftKings.
Injury to veteran center has opened door for young Coyote
Christian Dvorak logged 18 minutes of ice time last time out, potting a pair of goals on four shots including a power play tally. As the second line center with ex-Blackhawk Richard Panik and an underrated Clayton Keller, Dvorak will have an opportunity to produce against an up-tempo, leaky Chicago defense. Dvorak is also skating on the team’s top power play unit, so it is hard to argue with his punt pricing on FanDuel ($3,100) and DraftKings ($3,900). Center is loaded tonight, but Dvorak makes for an intriguing target in tournaments in this great matchup.
This goalie has the best chance at a win
Brian Elliott is just $7,300 on DraftKings and $7,600 on FanDuel. Checking in as the biggest favorite of the night by a considerable margin, Elliott makes for a nice play in all formats. With all their big names traded away, a once formidable Ottawa offense has struggled after the All-Star break, averaging just 2.47 goals per game. Elliott has looked good in his return outside of a stinker against Washington, but the Senators present an easier foe. Look for Elliott to limit the damage and get the win.
Look for this stack to bounce back after a tough loss
Nikitia Kucherov, Brayden Point, and Tyler Johnson are in an excellent spot tonight, as well as the entire Tampa Bay Lightening roster. Detroit will likely be without their most talented player Dylan Larkin. Detroit has given up 23 goals in their past five games. I expect Tampa Bay to come out strong after getting shutout at home against Minnesota the other night. Victor Hedman is the defenseman you want to correlate this trio with as he skates with Point and Kucherov on the top special teams unit.

Alexander Radulov is fresh off a hat trick and in a great matchup again tonight. Chicago has surrendered the most HDCA/60 over the past month (15.31). The whole line skates together at even strength and on the power-play giving them elite upside.

Patrice Bergereon, Brad Marchand, and Danton Heinen will likely be the chalk stack of the day, but for good reason. Ottawa has given up a ton of scoring chances in the past month (13.78/60). Heinen also saw top power-play minute’s last game with DeBrusk missing last game. This may be the case again tonight with DeBrusk’s availability up in the air. Torey Krug makes a great addition as a four-man stack, as he quarterbacks the team’s top power-play unit.

Roope Hintz was tearing up the American Hockey League earlier this season, posting 22 points (9G, 13A) in 21 games. While he has yet to really have success at the professional level, Hintz could not ask for a better matchup than the Chicago Blackhawks who are allowing the most scoring chances against per 60 minutes (30.71 SCA/60) at 5-on-5. Hintz closed out February with a goal in back-to-back games, but has not found the scoresheet yet in three March games. Skating with Tyler Seguin and Alexander Radulov at even-strength, Hintz seems like the best cheap option (DraftKings – $3,700 and FanDuel – $3,500) to pick up a point of anyone on tonight’s slate. He is viable in all formats.
Providence call-up could easily hit value against cupcake opponent
Boston along with Tampa Bay have the two biggest mismatches of the night. With Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron (especially) being primary targets, finding some punts to round out rosters is necessary. Enter Peter Cehlarik who has shown some real offensive upside in the American Hockey League this season. In the absence of Jake DeBrusk last time out, Cehlarik saw 16 minutes of ice time, and even if Jake returns tonight, Cehlarik should see enough minutes to take a couple shots on goal and perhaps find the scoresheet against the always-generous Senators’ defense. Cehlarik is just $3,100 on DraftKings and $3,200 on FanDuel and makes a lot of sense given the game environment and taking a stars and scrubs approach to tonight’s slate.
Rookie defenseman draws dream matchup
Miro Heiskanen is not someone that has been mentioned in a while, but here we are in a pristine matchup on home ice against the Chicago Blackhawks. Heiskanen is a talented defenseman who sees power play time, and recently he has been moved to the top pairing alongside John Klingberg, taking on more of an offensive role rather than on the second pairing with Roman Polak. Targeting defenseman (and anyone for that matter) against Chicago produces results more often than not, and Heiskanen checks in around $4,000 on DraftKings and FanDuel which make him a worthy tournament target. Even pairing him with John Klingberg, the top defenseman available on tonight’s slate, makes for an intriguing, unique build in Dallas stacks.
Dallas Gets Easy Match-Up
Radulov got into a bit of trouble this week as the Stars took a bold stance in sitting him down for a game after he was late for a team practice. This all comes on the heels of the team rising like the Phoenix over the last few months to contend for the last play-off spot in the Western Conference. By grabbing five goals and three assists over his last eight games he now has been credited with 20 goals and 34 assists in the 55 games he has suited up for. Three things are in Radulov’s favor tonight. the first being that he has been skating with Tyler Seguin on the team’s top 5×5 line and top power play unit. Secondly, the Blackhawks have given up 43 goals over their last nine games which, as you can see, is well over four goals a game. Last but not least, home ice will be to Radulov’s advantage as he and Seguin should get all the best match-ups to give Dallas the edge to win the game this evening.
