Ahead of the first pitch, oddsmakers have priced the American League as -122 favorites on the moneyline. The total for this contest is set at over/under 7.5 runs.

Let’s take a deeper look at MLB odds to see where baseball bettors can find value at sportsbooks in this contest.

National League Preview

Skenes on the bump for NL

Despite being only 22 years and having been drafted only 372 days ago, Paul Skenes will be on the bump for the National League to start the game on Tuesday. Skenes has been masterful in his rookie campaign, with a 1.90 ERA, 2.62 xERA, and 2.57 FIP through his first 11 turns in the rotation.

In typical All-Star Game fashion, each team will use a number of different pitchers, which means Skenes will only pitch 1 or 2 innings tonight. Max Fried, Hunter Greene, Shota Imanaga, Reynaldo Lopez, Cristopher Sanchez, and Logan Webb are the other starting pitchers on the National League roster, who could pitch in relief. Jeff Hoffman, Tanner Scott, Matt Strahm, Robert Suarez, and Kyle Finnegan are the team’s traditional relievers, and will also be available out of the arm barn as needed.

Harper, Ohtani lead star-studded NL offense

Even by All-Star Game standards, the National League has a star-studded lineup in 2024. Both Bryce Harper, Christian Yelich, and Shoehi Ohtani are former MVP winners. Alec Bohm and Teoscar Hernandez each participated in last night’s Home Run Derby. Trea Turner, Ketel Marte, and William Contreras give this lineup plenty of additional power and speed as well.

Pete Alonso, Freddie Freeman, and Elly De La Cruz headline the National League’s list of hitters off of the bench.

American League Preview

Burnes draws start for AL

The American League might not be drawing as many headlines as the National League heading into Tuesday, but they are in good shape, nonetheless. Corbin Burnes will toe the rubber for the American League to get things started. Burnes has been outstanding in 2024, posting a 2.43 ERA, 3.00 xERA, and 3.36 FIP across 19 starts.

In relief of Burnes, the American League will have Tyler Anderson, Garrett Crochet, Tanner Houck, Seth Lugo, Cole Ragans, and Tarik Skubal as additional starters. Emmanuel Clase, Clay Holmes, Andres Munoz, Mason Miller, and Kirby Yates are traditional relievers, who are also available to throw.

MVP front-runner, Aaron Judge leads AL offense

Offensively, the American League will be led by MVP front-runner Aaron Judge, who has already hit 34 home runs this season. Gunnar Henderson, Yordan Alvarez, Juan Soto, and Jose Ramirez also bring plenty of pop to this lineup. Henderson and Ramirez were in Monday’s Home Run Derby. Soto won the Home Run Derby 2 years ago when the league’s All-Star festivities were held in Los Angeles.

Emerging young stars Bobby Witt Jr., Jarren Duran, and Riley Greene headline the American League’s offensive reserves.

2024 All-Star Game Prediction

In 2023, the National League won their first Midsummer Classic in a decade, winning 3-2 at T-Mobile Park. In 2024, the Senior Circuit has a chance to go back-to-back, with arguably the advantage in all facets of this matchup. Paul Skenes leads an extremely talented and deep pitching staff for the National League. Bryce Harper, Shohei Ohtani, and the rest of the team’s sluggers are more than capable of going toe-to-toe with their counterparts, especially late in the game when we see the reserves enter the mix. At plus-money, the National League has some good value in this spot.
