Fanball NFL Auction Breakdown: Week 8 – Tuesday, October 23rd

Hey everyone, welcome to the Fanball NFL Auction breakdown. If you haven’t played on this site before, it’s a product unlike anything you’ve ever seen before in DFS. They will be offering an Auction-style format drafting with four players on the board at all times, meaning you have to be on your toes and be aware of what is going on, because split-second mistakes can be costly.

Each team must draft 1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, and 1 TE. No player can be left on the board at the end of the draft, so if you are the last player not to draft a TE, then when the last TE goes on the board you will autodraft them for $1.

RG Exclusive Offer: Deposit $20 on Fanball and get a $20 bonus!

There are four players up for auction at all times, so you need to be able to adlib on the fly if someone goes drastically over or under what you are projecting to pay for them. You can find the full scoring system for Fanball NFL here.

Be sure to check out Kevin Cole’s overall look at his projected values before my breakdown below.

Tuesday, October 23rd

Quarterback

Drew Brees – $10
Aaron Rodgers – $10
Kirk Cousins – $8
Joe Flacco – $4
Alex Smith – $1
Eli Manning – $1

Brees, Rodgers, Cousins – There are two very clear tiers here to me at QB and you want to be at the top tier if you get a chance to. If you have a chance to get any of these top three QBs early on in the draft, you should hop on the opportunity. There are likely to draw a decent price (justifiably so), but any price you get them at is likely to be a bit of a discount considering the bottom two QBs on the board.

Flacco, Smith, Manning – I really don’t want to be stuck with any of these guys, but if I’m forced to then I’ll try to get Flacco at a discount. With there being huge drop-offs at two of the other positions, it’s not the worst thing in the world to get stuck with either Manning or Smith, but It’s something that should try to be avoided. This should go without saying, but don’t pay more than $1 for either Smith or Manning.

Running Back

Saquon Barkley – $30
Christian McCaffrey – $22
Kareem Hunt – $22
Alvin Kamara – $20
Nick Chubb – $8
Kerryon Johnson – $7
Mark Ingram – $7
Isaiah Crowell – $5
Phillip Lindsay – $5
Aaron Jones – $1
Adrian Peterson – $1
Alex Collins – $1

Barkley, McCaffrey, Hunt, Kamara – This is the very clear tier one for RB and they are a huge upgrade over the rest of the backs on this list. As of right now, I have all these backs as near double-digit upgrades over the bottom three RBs and Barkley is over 10 points better. The Barkley scenario is much like the Gurley scenario was last week and should be treated as such. Be on the lookout of where he gets put on the board during the draft, because, if he is still on the board late in the draft it basically becomes a game of “whoever has the most money gets Barkley” and if someone outbids you, then you get stuck with a whole lot of extra money on the board.

Chubb, Johnson, Ingram, Crowell, Lindsay – Each of these RBs I have at a pretty big upgrade over the last three RBs on the board. You should not overpay for any of these backs, but if you can get one of them for one to two dollars early on in the draft, you should hop on it and pay up at other spots.

Jones, Peterson, Collins – Don’t pay over $1 for any of these backs and try to not get stuck with them at all.

Wide Receiver

Adam Thielen – $24
Antonio Brown – $23
Odell Beckham – $21
Jarvis Landry – $18
Michael Thomas – $18
Davante Adams – $16
Robert Woods – $16
John Brown – $12
Taylor Gabriel – $7
Tyler Lockett – $4
Curtis Samuel – $1
Jordy Nelson – $1

Thielen, Brown, Beckham, Landry, Thomas, Adams, Woods – I may actually be underpricing these guys with how much better they are than the rest of the group, but we’ll actually see what they end up going for once the drafts start. To me, each of these guys offer huge safety in this PPR format and huge upside with the receiving yard bonuses they will likely get. You should be hopping on each of these WRs when they go on the board and hope that you get one or two of them at a discount

J Brown, Lockett Gabriel – These three WRs are kind of in no man’s land. They are well below the top tier, but well above the guys below them. You should take notice when they go on the board, because with all the stars in this draft they will likely get overlooked.

Samuel and Nelson – Just don’t draft these guys. Nelson may get some more targets without Cooper, but both these options are likely to get duds.

Tight End

Travis Kelce – $12
George Kittle – $9
Eric Ebron – $7
Jared Cook – $7
Jordan Reed – $3
Ricky Seals-Jones – $1

Kelce, Kittle, Ebron, Cook – TE is an interesting spot today. There are four of the top overall options on the board here and I have priced them a little lower than I should have because you can almost always get a good one at a discount. Be on the lookout for whichever of these top four TEs go on the board first, because you may be able to gauge what they are going to go for in the draft. In any case, try to snag up whichever one you can at a discount because all the top four guys have the potential

Reed and Seals-Jones – Realistically you should try to get one of the top four TEs, but if you can’t, it’s a smart move to try to get Reed for one to three dollars. He’s likely to go unnoticed early on the in the draft, but is a pretty big upgrade on Seals-Jones.

The Stack Spots

As we all know, in football DFS, pairing your QB with a WR or TE can have a drastic effect on your upside in any given competition and auction-style like this is no different. As you can clearly see from the player pool, each QB has WRs and/or TEs which you can pair with them to raise your upside. Below is my favorite stacking spot.

Rodger with Adams – There aren’t many good stack spots in this player pool, but Rodgers and Adams is a clearly great one. With the receiving core banged up for GB, if Rodgers does well we know Adams has a lot to do with it.

Remember guys, keep an eye out for what’s happening in your draft and if guys are going for way less than they are projected for here, you should know that some of these prices may be too low. Likewise, if guys are going for higher than the above price early on you can get a lot of these guys at a huge discount.
