We also provide pace numbers, so you can spot a game that might have a few extra possessions and more opportunities for fantasy points.
We also provide position-by-position matchup rankings for every team, to give you an idea of the players who will be in better situations to succeed. Using Defense versus Position data, every projected starter is listed along with his opponent’s rank in points allowed to players of his position. Hello, and welcome to the Saturday edition of the Grind Down. It’s been a great week so far, and hopefully we can keep it going this weekend. The Bucks host the Nets in the early game, a rematch of the Bucks domination at Brooklyn on Thursday. I’d expect more of the same in Milwaukee. Sean Kilpatrick looks like he’s still cash game worthy since we know he’ll play about 30 minutes.Brook Lopez should be able to have his way inside, but has not proven it. Joe Harris made an impact on Thursday, but why force and waste a solid C spot on him today? I would just avoid the Nets if you’re playing the all day slate and load up on the other games.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is pretty much a mandatory play every time that he’s on the slate. He provided a James Hardenesque floor and crushed the Nets for 56.6 FDFP in 30 minutes on Thursday. He was not able to get a triple-double, but that should be within reach tonight at home. Jabari Parker saw under 30 minutes against the Nets but was able to produce in his time. If he can stay on the floor longer than 30 minutes, he should be able to be worth it. On a full slate, I’m not sure Parker is worth the risk yet. Sure, he could blow up, but he’s not getting 50 fantasy points. John Henson continues to crush, and the Nets continue to be bad against centers. As I mentioned on Thursday, the Nets are basically last in every defensive category, and Henson has been playing well for three straight games. I’d expect there Henson to be mega chalk in the all-day slate, and for cash games, it makes total sense. I’d rather just save and spend on some of the elite centers available later in the day. It’s tough to get a gauge on where the minutes will go to.

The Timberwolves travel to Charlotte after losing consecutive games to the Knicks. They get a stiff test in the Hornets, and I’d expect most players to jump off the Karl-Anthony Towns bandwagon. Based on our DvP chart above, KAT is in the best matchup, and based on the eye test, can Cody Zeller really stop him? Towns is slightly too expensive for cash games and has only had two huge games surrounded by a bunch of games that would be considered fantasy disappointments. He needs to be around $8.3k to be considered a cash game play.
Zach LaVine was able to get back on the positive trend last night against the Knicks and is a viable cash game play with solid GPP potential upside. Andrew Wiggins is in the same boat as LaVine and is priced the same on FanDuel but is more expensive than him on DraftKings. SF is too deep today to really force Wiggins onto your roster, and he’ll be defended by Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, keeping his ceiling low and chance of busting high. Gorgui Dieng gets a nice bounce-back spot, but he’s back to his poor play after a recent strong stretch. That makes him only viable for tournaments. Nemanja Bjelica and Cole Aldrich played well against the Knicks last night, but they are nothing more than low-dollar GPP fliers.

The Hornets have won three out of their last four games after going on a four-game losing streak. Kemba Walker has underperformed salary-based expectations for three consecutive games and has only hit 40 FDFP in two of his last seven starts. This looks like a beautiful bounce-back spot with a lot people avoiding him with all the PG depth we have on this slate. Walker has a true usage rate of 30.9% and has a 23rd-ranked DvP matchup. This is a great spot for him in all formats, but I could understand skipping him in cash games due to the inflated salary and going for the mid-range guys who will likely exceed their value. Nicolas Batum has also underperformed lately, and with SG being relatively deep, I can’t recommend Batum in cash, even though he does have viable tournament upside. The minutes have been there; the production has not. It’s possible he gets there tonight with the Hornets having the sixth-highest team total on the slate. His usage is not the highest of guys in this range, making him a last-in option.
Cody Zeller saw 30 minutes for the first time since his shoulder injury and can go back to being a solid cash game option on DraftKings. I would not waste a center spot on him with Jahlil Okafor cheaper than him on FanDuel, but I do understand it for DK. Zeller has low-end double-double potential, and centers have proven to return a profit for us against Towns. Frank Kaminsky is in a rut. I had a hard time trusting the Tank before and don’t trust him at all right now. Jeremy Lamb continues to do work, even in limited minutes, but he’ll need an injury in front of him to really return solid value to us.

The Celtics travel to Philadelphia after handling the Kings last night. Al Horford continues to dominate and has exceeded salary-based expectations in four his last six starts since returning from a concussion. His salary continues to be pretty high, but he’s still an elite option against the Sixers tonight. He has range, as proven by his four triples last night, and he works for FanDuel and DraftKings. I still feel like there are other centers who are in slightly better spots than him, but everyone is bunched in this same salary range, so going to Horford is not wrong. Isaiah Thomas has not really exploded in a while but has scored 20 or more actual points in seven straight games and in all but one game this season. That one game he scored 18, so he’s a lock for 20 PPG. His salary needs to be under $8k on FanDuel, for me to consider him. He’s under $8k on DraftKings and should be overlooked tonight with so many other good PGs.
Avery Bradley continues to be a solid cash game SG and has played 31 or more minutes in every game this season. He went back to his solid rebounding ways, collecting nine last night. With everyone on the roster healthy, it looks like his ceiling is capped and he’ll need to boost his floor through the other peripherals. Jae Crowder was a slight let down last night, but he played 37 minutes, the most he’s played all season. He’s a solid cash game option who will not cost too much. There are other SFs in better spots than him, so he’s only really viable in the UTIL slot on DK or as a cash game salary saver on FD.

The Sixers will host the Celtics tonight after getting spanked by the lowly Magic last night. Joel Embiid had his first 20-10 game of his career and played 27 minutes. Look to play him again on Monday against the Nuggets. Jahlil Okafor will get the start tonight and should be a lock-and-load in all formats. Okafor had his best game of the season last night and played 28 minutes. Okafor is not a stout defender in the post, but he does have a block in six of his last seven games. There’s no point in fading him on FanDuel, and he’s not even that expensive on DraftKings. In three contests last season, Okafor averaged 33.03 DKFP against the Celtics.
Ersan Ilyasova only played 17 minutes last night, but that was likely due to the size of the Magic and blowout score. Ilyasova is not salary saver at PF today, and if you’re not feeling Ilyasova you could go to Richaun Holmes. Holmes only played eight minutes last night, but with Embiid out, expect him to get 22-24 minutes. He hit 25 FDFP in his last two games that he say over 20 minutes. Sergio Rodriguez continues to be a solid cash game option but only does not get over 30 minutes. He’s not mandatory tonight with so many good PG options. Robert Covington is dealing with a knee injury and is questionable for tonight. If he misses, expect Hollis Thompson to start. Thompson is a min priced player across the industry, but keep your expectations in check. He played 25 minutes last night and did not even score 10 fantasy points.

The Hawks travel to Toronto on the second night of a back-to-back after laying an egg at home against Detroit. Dwight Howard was just terrible and should be better today. With so many elite center options tonight, Howard is simply going to be a low-owned GPP option that has huge potential upside. If I’m making multiple teams, I’d consider Howard, but for players who only build one lineup, Howard is not the guy for you tonight. Dennis Schroder salvaged what was a poor start last night and Schroder has a usage rate of 32.1% with Millsap off the court this season. He should play nearly 30 minutes tonight but is a secondary option.
Hopefully, you were able to Bazeless last night, and I’d expect to keep that trend going tonight. Kent Bazemore is not in a bad spot but there’s just way too many SFs in much better spots than him. If you’re looking for a cheap guy in this range, Crowder is my preferred option. Thabo Sefolosha started in place of Paul Millsap, but that could change here tonight. Whoever starts at PF will be able to play well and is a viable sleeper candidate tonight. We might not find that prior to lineups locking, but there is chance we do with the Hawks playing in the second wave of games, just 30 minutes after the start of the contests. Tim Hardaway minutes have been trending in the right direction since Paul Millsap went down, and he’s a cheap flier at SG and has multi-position eligibility over on DraftKings. Kris Humphries has also seen his minutes start trending in the positive direction, and he could be that sleeper PF that we’re looking for tonight. Since this is a pace down game for the Hawks, it seems most of them don’t really have that much upside.

The Raptors crushed the Lakers last night and were able to keep their dynamic duo’s minutes limited. Lowry only played 31 minutes while DeRozan played 30. They are both pretty expensive, but this is a pace-up game for the Raptors. Still, they are expected to score 5.1 fewer points than their season average. I’d only reserve these two for tournaments, and they don’t seem mandatory at these inflated salary levels. The ownership should also be low, so they make for strong GPP options who will get their floor and have a shot at a 50 burger. Demarre Carroll should be back tonight against his former team after resting last night. Carroll has played 26 or more minutes in four of his last five starts. He’s a cheap option who should be able to exceed salary-based expectations. Cory Joseph has also been playing well lately scoring 22 or more FanDuel fantasy points in four of his last six games. I’d look at him as a better option on DraftKings today, since he is only $3.5k over there. He won’t have to do much to exceed value and should be a strong option at the UTIL spot. He’s $4k on FanDuel, and I can’t see myself wasting a PG spot on a guy without a 30-FDFP game this season.

Brandon Ingram finally had it click last night on offense and shot 50 percent from the field while taking the second-most shot attempts of his career. He had his best fantasy output and will look to keep it going against the Grizzlies tonight. My concern is that they’ll put Tony Allen on him to start the game. This could lower his ceiling, but he was not a high-upside play anyways. The minutes will continue to be there and it’s been a solid run so far since he has become a starter, but he could be chalky tonight and it’s not mandatory to spend down at SF for this slate. Julius Randle should bounce back against the Grizzlies, and he’ll be in line for 32-36 minutes if Larry Nance misses the game due to a knee injury. Since he only played 22 minutes last night, Randle is an elite tournament option if Nance is out.
Jordan Clarkson should also be able to bounce back after a poor performance last night. He’s slightly behind Lou Williams in true usage rate but will play more minutes than Williams. He’s also a solid tournament option who will likely be defended by Andrew Harrison who is actually listed as a taller player than Clarkson. Due to his recent slump and slightly inflated salary, Clarkson is simply a GPP option that should not be used in cash. Lou Williams seems like the better cash option, but it’s tough to trust a scoring-dependent guard who has not shot over 50 percent in his last five games.

The Grizzlies only have nine healthy bodies and were able to squeak out a victory over the Magic on Thursday. Marc Gasol is the main attraction and should be able to have his way against the Lakers. Gasol leads this bunch with a true usage rate of 27.5% and will play over 32 minutes tonight. He’s at a solid 1 FP/Min that has defensive stats upside. The rebounding weakness is a concern, since he has not grabbed over 10 rebounds in 15 straight games. JaMychal Green continues to play well for the Grizzlies with all their parts missing and Green will be a solid cash game option again tonight.
Andrew Harrison has played well for back-to-back games and gets to play the Lakers tonight, who rank 24th in DvP against the position. The minutes will be there for Harrison, and so should the expected usage with so many players out. Harrison is better suited for cash games than tournaments, as he should still have considerable ownership due to his cheap salary on FanDuel. Over on DraftKings, Harrison is a solid tournament option who should have lower ownership due to the price spike. He’s still in a good spot but carries some risk now that he’s over $5k. Troy Williams is a solid cash game SF salary saver, but better saved for DraftKings as a util spot.
