Weekend Update
- World Cup – The final four of the 2014 FIFA World Cup are set. Kicking off the first semifinal match is Brazil vs Germany On Tuesday July 8th at 4:00pm on ESPN. The second semifinal match is between The Netherlands and Argentina On Wednesday July 9th at 4:00pm also on ESPN.
- E5 Injury – In the first inning of Saturday evening’s game between the Blue Jays and Athletics Edwin Encarnacion felt a pop in his right quad while trying to beat out a double play. E5 fell to the ground in pain before being helped off the field. He is scheduled to have an MRI early this week. Other big names placed on the DL this weekend are Jonathon Niese (Shoulder) and Michael Bourn (Hamstring).
- Cubs/Athletics Trade – Over the 4th of July weekend the Chicago Cubs and Oakland Athletics reached an agreement that sent Cubs starting pitchers Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel to the Oakland A’s. In return the Cubs received 2012 first round draft pick Addison Russell, 2013 first round pick Billy McKinney, pitcher Dan Straily and another player to be announced at a later date.
- Survive Or Revive
The FanDuel Survive Or Revive starts today. It’s a $25 buyin, 300k guaranteed type of survivor game that allows re-entry back into the tournament for the first few rounds. All of the details can be found in the forum thread Here.
- All-Star Game – The players selected for the 2014 MLB all star game were announced Sunday evening. Full rosters can be found Here for the AL and Here For the NL.
