Sports Info Solutions: MLB DFS Advice for Friday, June 22nd

SIS

America’s pastime and daily fantasy sports are a perfect fit with an overload of data and statistics to analyze before making your lineup selections.

Because of the amount of information available to the DFS player, it can be a bit overwhelming, so I’ve tried to help you out by recommending a number of well-priced options by using Sports Info Solutions’ “SIS Model 3”.

SIS Model 3 gives DFS players an edge when setting their lineups as it uses the most expansive and accurate wealth of baseball data to create a tested DFS algorithm. You can learn more about the development of the algorithm in the RotoGrinders Marketplace.

Pitching Option

Jon Gray, Colorado (FD Price $6,800)

Sure, it can be scary starting a pitcher in Coors Field, but Gray has a 28.5 K% and faces a Miami offense which is last in runs scored per game (3.55) and OPS (.662).

Hitting Options

C/1B) Buster Posey, San Francisco (FD Price $3,100)

Posey is always a solid hitter, but against LHP he owns a .392 wOBA and at home against LHP that rises to a .466 wOBA. He’s also 12-for-32 with a .446 wOBA against today’s starter Clayton Richard.

2B) Daniel Descalso, Arizona (FD Price $3,000)

Opposing starter Ivan Nova has struggled against lefties (.369 wOBA so we choose Descalso here who despite a .268 BA has posted a productive .370 wOBA and a .384 wOBA against RHP.

3B) Matt Carpenter, St. Louis (FD Price $3,900)

You might bypass Carpenter after seeing his .238 BA, but he was under the “Mendoza Line” as late as May 23 (.199). He’s produced a .404 wOBA on the road against RHP this season.

SS) Freddy Galvis, San Diego (FD Price $2,200)

Galvis is swinging a relatively hot bat in June (.322 wOBA) and faces Chris Stratton who has done most of his good work on the road (.194 BA, .268 wOBA), not at home (.309 BA, .378 wOBA).

OF) George Springer, Houston (FD Price $4,100)

The Astros leadoff hitter is batting .322 with a .419 wOBA against LHP. Meanwhile, struggling starter Danny Duffy (3-7, 5.34 xFIP) has allowed RHB a .373 wOBA.

OF) Nick Markakis, Atlanta (FD Price $3,300)

Markakis is batting .323 with a .370 wOBA, his best since 2008. He’s facing Alex Cobb, who is “lost” posting a 2-9 record with a 7.16 ERA in his first year with the Orioles. That includes yielding a .370 BA and .438 wOBA to LHB.

OF) Bryce Harper, Washington (FD Price $4,100)

He’s struggled of late, but he’s still posted a .356 wOBA at home against RHP.

UTIL) Freddie Freeman, Atlanta (FD Price $4,400)

As we saw with teammate Markakis, Cobb can’t get out lefties and Freeman is more than just another lefty bat. He’s batting .332 with 15 HR, 49 RBI and a .418 wOBA.

Stacking Option

When it comes time to draft a fantasy baseball team in DFS, stacking is a widely accepted strategy. There’s a reason: it works. If you want to win big, you will need a gigantic score, and stacking makes it easier to rack up the points because the scoring of batters in a given lineup is interrelated. Batters reaching base allows the hitters down the line to drive them in, creating something of a snowball effect.

Atlanta Braves – Along with Freeman and Markakis, the Braves normal lineup against RHP includes lefty Ender Inciarte (.313 wOBA vs. RHP) and switch hitters Ozzie Albies (.318 wOBA vs. RHP) and Johan Camargo (.358 wOBA vs. RHP).
