Sunday, May 6th

Pitcher

Max Scherzer – $60 – Scherzer is about as consistent as there is as his ability to get strikeouts always gives you the fantasy points you are looking for. While Philadelphia is a team I’m not a fan of picking on, Scherzer gets them at home today and Vegas has them projected to score just 2.95 points. Philly does have the 2nd highest K rate in the league against right-handed pitching and Scherzer has 65 strikeouts in 45 innings while not allowing more than 2 earned runs this year.

Chris Sale – $59 – Sale can be used in cash today but is also a great tourney pivot as Scherzer should be much higher owned across the industry. He looked strong in his last outing against the Royals, holding them to just 1 earned run in 7 innings with 6 strikeouts. Texas is dealing with some injuries and struck out 10 times last night, so 7-10 k’s today isn’t a reach.

Kyle Gibson – $36 – If you are looking to go cheaper at pitcher, Gibson comes at a solid price. He’s had 23 strikeouts in his last 3 games, getting 10 of those against the Yankees on April 26th, 2 starts ago. The White Sox have put a hurt on some solid pitchers as of late, so I would only recommend him for GPP’s only as I’ll be using Scherzer and Sale in most of my lineups today.

Others to consider: Noah Syndergaard, Justin Verlander, Chris Archer (value)

Catcher

Salvador Perez – $17 – Perez draws lefty Matt Boyd, someone he’s had success against in the past with 2 home runs in 18 at bats. While he’s been struggling at the plate this series against the Tigers, getting just 2 hits in 10 at bats, 1 of those was a home run on Friday night. Boyd is just the pitcher Perez wants to see to bounce back and get on a roll again.

Others to consider: J.T. Realmuto, Gary Sanchez, Austin Barnes (value)

First Base

Logan Morrison – $14 – While I love Votto and Freeman today, I am more in love with the red hot Morrison, who costs just $14 today on Yahoo. He’s hit 2 home runs so far in this series against the White Sox and has scored 4 runs and 3 RBI’s as well. He’s faced Shields 8 times before, hitting .375 with a home run.

Others to consider: Joey Votto, Freddie Freeman, Anthony Rizzo

Second Base

Brian Dozier – $17 – Dozier has had success against Shields, hitting 4 home runs in the 34 times he’s faced him while batting .353. The Twins are a great team to stack against Shields as he has a low strikeout rats and allows hard hits to righties. Dozier is 4-14 in this series against the White Sox, hitting a homer on Friday night.

Others to consider: Jose Altuve, Whit Merrifield, Kike Hernandez (value)

Third Base

Travis Shaw – $17 – Shaw faces righty, Chad Kuhl today who he’s seen 6 times in the past, getting 3 hits against. Kuhl allows a ton of hard contact to lefties and so far this season has already given up 5 home runs which bodes well for Shaw who has just one hit this series in 7 at bats.

Others to consider: Jose Ramirez, Kris Bryant, Brian Anderson (value)

Short Stop

Carlos Correa – $20 – There’s so much to love at SS today at the top but Correa is probably who I’m leaning towards as I can save a few dollars while still getting a top player. While the Astros are struggling this season as a ball club, Correa is one guy who has been good offensively, batting .307 and on pace for 100 runs and RBI’s this year.

Others to consider: Trea Turner, Manny Machado, Brandon Crawford (value)

Outfield

Mike Trout – $27 – If you are paying up for one big hitter, Trout is the guy I’d spend up for. He continues to crush opposing pitchers this season and is hitting an amazing 6-10 so far in this series against Seattle with 3 doubles, a triple with 3 runs scored. While Hernandez has looked good in his last few outings, I still have Trout as my #1 guy almost any time he’s on the slate.

Giancarlo Stanton – $17 – Stanton can be such a frustrating guy to roster to me. When I use him, he goes 0-4, when I don’t, all I see is him hitting home runs. However, the price is right for Stanton as you are getting tremendous power today at a discounted price. Clevinger has been up and down this season but is definitely a pitcher Stanton can abuse if he gets hot. Love Stanton for GPP’s today.

Adam Duvall – $12 – For just $12, Duvall is a steal today against righty, Dan Straily. While Duvall is just 1-7 so far in this series against Miami, the lone hit was the 2nd half of back-to-back homers for the Reds against Wei-in Chen on Friday night. While he has struggled from the plate this season, $12 is just hard to turn down with the home run potential you get.

Others to consider: Bryce Harper, Mookie Betts, George Springer, Christian Yelich
