Al Jefferson (dental pain) has been ruled out for tonight
Al Jefferson has been ruled out of tonight’s contest due to dental pain. Jefferson has not played over 20 minutes this calendar year and does not significantly change the rotation. With Thaddeus Young expected back tonight, Kevin Seraphin will likely be used as the backup C behind Myles Turner. Both Turner and Seraphin are extremely risky options against the Grizzlies tonight.

Dario Saric and Jahlil Okafor confirmed in the starting lineup with Ersan Ilyasova and Nerlens Noel traded
Dario Saric and Jahlil Okafor will start for the Sixers tonight against the Wizards. Gortat owns a 1.93 DPRM on the season and could make Okafor slightly Risky. Still, Okafor should be able to play 24-28 minutes and achieve salary-based expectations but his upside is in question. Ersan Ilyasova’s departure opens the door for Dario Saric to play heavy minutes. Saric has been trending in the right direction over the last six games and played 30+ minutes in his last two. Saric should be popular tonight and for good reason, the Wizards rank 27th against PFs on the season.

Justin Anderson has passed his physical and has been cleared to play tonight for the Sixers. Anderson is not a reliable DFS option and DraftKings does not even have him listed. FanDuel does have him listed but there are a ton of better SF options tonight at every salary level. With Ersan Ilyasova shipped, Brett Brown mentioned that Robert Covington and Anderson could to be used as the backup PF.

Johnny O’Bryant was signed by the Hornets to a 10-day contract today. Since Miles Plumlee and Cody Zeller are dealing with injuries, O’Bryant is likely being signed as an emergency player. Frank Kaminsky, Marvin Williams, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist have all been logging over 30 minutes for the past few weeks and will likely continue that trend moving forward. Kaminsky looks like the player with the highest floor while MKG is the most volatile.

Bradley has only played three times this calendar year and has missed the last 16 games for the Celtics. Jaylen Brown was spotted in practice playing with the starters, so he could start tonight against the Raptors. Marcus Smart has started the last five games and has not done anything to actually lose his spot. Brown missed the last three games due to a hip injury, allowing Smart to start and log heavy minutes. Considering the Raptors are 2nd against SGs, Smart and Brown are simply GPP options. Brown is much cheaper but will need to be confirmed the starter before we can use him on our rosters. Brown rarely sees over 24 minutes when he plays off the bench.

Young has been a fairly good bet to suit up most of the day, so this news isn’t terribly shocking. With Young and Allen expected back, Kevin Seraphin will go back to seeing a handful of minutes (at best) off the bench, while Young should resume his 30-34 minutes of court time at the PF spot. He may be slightly limited in his first game back, but given the long layover of the ASB, it’s possible he’s thrust straight back into his regular role. The Pacers in general aren’t an appealing target on a ten-game slate where they’ll be facing off with a slow paced, defensive-minded Grizzlies team.

Chris Paul listed as questionable for tonight
It appears Paul has a legitimate shot to play tonight, especially considering a tweet of his own which he captioned with “back at it.” Had the Clippers not played last night, this could just be taken with a grain of salt, but given that it’s the teams second game out of the break would seem to suggest that Paul is itching to get back on the court against San Antonio. If he does, Blake Griffin will become a slightly less appealing target, and the ancillary guards (Rivers, Felton, Crawford) would all basically become unplayable. We’ll update this situation as the day unfolds.

Kristaps Porzingis injured his ankle in last night’s game against Cleveland but tests showed no ligament damage and he’ll be out for several days. He is not expected to play tomorrow against the Sixers and Lance Thomas stepped up in his place last night. Thomas may start on Saturday but the team has not provided any further updates.

The Nuggets were healthy for last night’s game against Sacramento but did not end up play Emmanuel Mudiay. The PG is available for tonight’s game but it seems that Jamal Murray will be used behind Jameer Nelson at the point. Darrell Arthur also did not play but the team is listing him as probable. Kenneth Faried only played 13 minutes on his bum ankle but is also listed as probable. Danilo Gallinari played 30 minutes last night and seems to be over his groin issue. They’ve also listed him as probable and he is expected to start once again. Roy Hibbert was traded to the Nuggets at the deadline and he is being listed as questionable to play.

Pau Gasol has missed the past month due to a fractured finger but is playing tonight against the Clippers. Gasol is expected to start, making Dewayne Dedmon a risky DFS option. David Lee will also see a reduced role and should be avoided unless a Spurs player is rested. Considering they just got back from the All-Star break, expect the Spurs to have everyone available.

Caris LeVert will start at SF tonight with Bojan Bogdanovic traded to the Washington Wizards. LeVert has only made one start this season and did not play well in his 30 minutes. The Nuggets are not a strong defensive team and LeVert should be able to make value in the best game environment on the slate. With the Nets have a plethora of wing players, don’t expect LeVert to play heavy minutes tonight. Randy Foye will also continue to start at SG but played under 20 minutes in his previous two starts. Foye is too risky on a 10-game slate and should be avoided

Jeremy Lin will play and start tonight but is not expected to play heavy minutes. The Nets will monitor Lin as he works his way back from being out of action for the past two months. Spencer Dinwiddie and Isaiah Whitehead will also no longer have any DFS viability with Lin in the starting lineup.

Delaney will draw the start at PG on Friday, and he immediately becomes one of the most appealing value plays on the slate. He’s priced at or near the minimum on every DFS outlet, and given that he should see upwards of 30 minutes with a healthy usage rate – he’s at 21.4% without Schroder on the floor this year – he’s a fine play in any format. As of this writing, he sits as the top dollar per point play on the board in the RotoGrinders projections. Paul Millsap, Kent Bazemore and Tim Hardaway Jr. also see upticks with Schroder off the floor, as all three pick up between 3-4% in the way of usage and Delaney isn’t going to command the ball quite as much as Schroder typically would. Despite a tough draw against a Heat team that has allowed the 7th fewest FPPG this season, several of the Hawks are viable targets this evening. The Heat are ranked 5th or better against PGs, SGs and SFs, but are a bit more friendly to PFs, ranking 10th against the position. While Delaney’s match-up isn’t eye-popping, his floor in terms of minutes keeps him in play regardless.

With Taj Gibson traded to the Thunder, Bobby Portis will start at PF. Portis should be considered an elite value play and could play 30 minutes tonight. Portis’ looks like a better value on FanDuel due to his salary being $4.2k. He’s still only $5k on DraftKings and the Suns are one of the worst teams in terms of defensive efficiency. Nikola Mirotic will be used as Portis’ backup and is only viable for GPPs.

Schroder will not play tonight for the Atlanta Hawks after he failed to report to the team after the All-Star break. Schroder had some visa issues due to a new passport and is expected to play tomorrow. Malcolm Delaney will get the start at PG and is a viable option in all formats. Expect Delaney to play heavy minutes tonight with Tim Hardaway Jr. and Kent Bazemore being used as his backup.
