Jerian Grant expected to start at point guard for Bulls today
Grant hasn’t played in three of the Bulls last five games but worked with the starters this morning in their shootaround and is expected to start in place of Michael Carter-Williams at point guard when they face Orlando tonight. The point guard situation is a mess in Chicago with Rajon Rondo also in the mix and all three are risky, probably best to fade, DFS options.

Patrick Patterson probable to play tonight for Raptors
The game notes for the Raptors list Patterson as probable meaning he is likely to return after missing the teams last six games. He’s not a viable DFS option, however, as the Raptors have depth and he’ll likely split time with the likes of Lucas Nogueira and Jared Sullinger.

Embiid had already been ruled out of the 76ers next two games but Okafor is new to the injury report after being downgraded to questionable for their game tonight against the Clippers. He was in line for big minutes with Embiid out but now this puts that role into jeopardy. If he is unable to go Nerlens Noel would be the biggest beneficiary and would immediately become a top DFS option despite a tough match up against DeAndre Jordan.

Adams will play in tonight’s game against the Utah Jazz after previously being listed as questionable on the Thunders’ injury report due to a concussion that had forced him to miss two consecutive games. Adams is expected to replace Jerami Grant in the starting lineup and not be limited by a minutes restriction. However, he draws one of the toughest individual matchups that a center can have, squaring up off with Rudy Gobert and the Utah defense. Adams is nothing more than a tournament dart throw on Monday’s slate, and not a particularly good one at that.

C.J. Miles starting ahead of Glenn Robinson tonight
Brooks and Stuckey will not play in tonight’s game against the New York Knicks due to sore right knee and sore left hamstring respectively. The news that Stuckey is unavailable isn’t all that surprising considering he has missed 12 consecutive games. However, with Brooks inactive, that should free up some additional playing time for Jeff Teague and Joe Young, though the latter is not a viable option on Monday’s slate. Additionally, C.J. Miles will start at shooting guard, sending Glenn Robinson to the bench to assume a reserve role. Monta Ellis could also see some of the reserve minutes at point guard and has played more than 28 minutes in two of the last three games, making him an intriguing option in tournaments for near the stone minimum across the industry.

Davis will not play in tonight’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers after previously being listed as questionable on the Pelicans’ injury report with a right quad contusion. Terrence Jones will draw the start at center in his place and becomes an elite play in all formats considering he typically sees north of 30 minutes whenever Davis is absent from the Pelicans lineup. With Davis off the court this season, Jrue Holiday leads the Pelicans with a 5.8% usage rate differential (30.7%). Normally, Holiday could be recommended as an elite play, but he has been losing minutes of late, making it difficult to trust him anything other than a tournament setting.

Randy Foye will be inserted into the Nets starting lineup at point guard for tonight’s game against the San Antonio Spurs, sending Sean Kilpatrick to the bench to resume his reserve role. The Nets are without Caris LeVert, Joe Harris, and Jeremy Lin, meaning that there are still plenty of minutes available for Kilpatrick at shooting guard despite the “demotion” to the bench. In fact, he should see even higher usage with the second unit while playing similar minutes to what he would have as a starter. Kilpatrick and Brook Lopez remain the primary Nets players to target this evening, outside of a tournament flier on Bojan Bogdanovic with Kawhi Leonard resting for San Antonio.

The pessimism stemming from Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry’s comments about Davis’ status, would lead us to believe he will not be active this evening. If that is the case, Terrence Jones becomes an elite play in all formats as he usually see north of 30 minutes whenever Davis is absent from the Pelicans lineup.

With Leonard, Parker and Ginobili all out, there is plenty of available value on the Spurs side. Dejounte Murray becomes an even safer value target than he already was, while Jonathan Simmons now steps squarely into play for tournaments. On a typical night we may have Simmons as an across the board play, but guys like Murray and David Lee are safer options with a higher ceiling. LaMarcus Aldridge should pick up a big chunk of usage with Leonard out, as he’ll now be the top dog on the Spurs side with Lee and Murray taking on bigger roles. Danny Green also becomes an interesting tournament punt play, as he still doesn’t figure to carry much GPP ownership but theoretically should take on more of the scoring load against the league’s worst defense. The Nets rank dead last in DvP against SGs, PGs and SFs.

Blake Griffin expected to play tomorrow vs Philadelphia
Griffin isn’t going to play tonight, but he’s expected to rejoin the Clippers tomorrow against the Sixers. We almost always want a piece of Chris Paul when Griffin is out, and vice versa, so Griffin will be an interesting GPP target tomorrow assuming he’s not on any kind of minutes restriction in his first game back. Griffin carries a 26.6% usage rate this season with Paul off the floor, but the sample size is still fairly small – a shade over 87 minutes – and we fully expect that number to jump to around 30-33% as the sample size grows. Griffin’s presence will take somebody like Marresse Speights out of play, and it also lessens the appeal of guys like Austin Rivers, J.J. Redick, Jamal Crawford and Raymond Felton. All four of the aforementioned names are still viable tournament targets without Paul in the lineup, but Griffin will now take on the bulk of the scoring responsibility.

Parker will hop back in the starting lineup after giving way to Thon Maker for a game, but the Bucks are still tinkering with things as they’ll have Miles Plumlee start at the center spot. Matthew Dellavedova is starting at PG with Snell and Antetokounmpo rounding out the starting five. The HOU/MIL tilt is one of the most stackable games on the slate and has plenty of tournament appeal from that perspective, but both Giannis and Parker are viable in any format this evening. Pairing one (or both) up with James Harden gives you a ton of potential production from what should be one of the most exciting games on the slate.

Felton will be reinserted into the Clippers starting lineup for tonight’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, sending Marreese Speights back to the bench to resume his reserve role. The Clippers will roll with their three-guard starting lineup with J.J. Redick and Austin Rivers at shooting guard and small forward respectively. Felton is firmly cemented as an elite play given his starting status in an exploitable individual matchup with Dennis Schroder and the Hawks’ backcourt defense.

Beal will play in tonight’s game against the Charlotte Hornets after previously being downgraded to questionable on the Wizards’ injury report due to a sore left foot. There has yet to be any report of a minutes restriction, but Beal is better reserved for tournaments given his recent struggles and uncertainty surrounding this foot injury.

LeVert will be rested and won’t play in tonight’s game against the San Antonio Spurs. The Nets are also still without Joe Harris and Jeremy Lin, meaning that there are plenty of minutes available for Sean Kilpatrick at shooting guard this evening. Additionally, Randy Foye will be inserted into the starting lineup at point guard, presumably sending Spencer Dinwiddie to the bench to assume a reserve role. However, neither are particularly viable options. Kilpatrick and Brook Lopez remain the lone Nets players to target.
