Norman Powell confirmed as the starter in place of DeMarre Carroll
Norman Powell played really well last week when he started for Powell and is a solid punt option for the late slate. Powell scored 23.3 and 31.8 DKFP in his two starts while playing 29 minutes. We can expect him to get the same amount of minutes but will likely have a stiff test against a good defensive team like the Clippers. Still, Powell will focus on the defensive end guarding J.J. Redick so DeMar DeRozan can rest on that side of the ball. This bodes well for DeRozan, who went to USC, down the street from Staples Center. Still, DeRozn is simply a GPP option because the Raptors are on a long road trip playing on the second night of a back-to-back on the road and his salary is inflated.

DeMarre Carroll (rest) officially ruled out; No replacement starter named in his place yet
DeMarre Carroll will not play the second night of a back-to-back. Norman Powell started the last time Carroll sat and could start again. Terrence Ross also played well when Carroll sat out and we should him to also play well off the bench. Carroll is expected to be back in the lineup on Wednesday against the Rockets.

Dejounte Murray and Davis Bertans were never officially announced as the starters so the DFS implications are minimal. Expect Patty Mills and David Lee to see a healthy amount of run with the second unit and to close out the game, if gets out of hand. With Murray and Bertans starting, this is a huge bump to the value of Kawhi Leonard and Pau Gasol. Expect Leonard to dominate tonight but his ceiling is somewhat lowered with the Mavs starting multiple players that were undrafted. If you had Murray or Bertans in your late lineups, you could be in luck.

LaMarcus Aldridge and Tony Parker will not play tonight against the Mavericks. Patty Mills is expected to start in place of Tony Parker while no replacement has been named for Aldridge. We can expect that David Lee will see a healthy amount of minutes tonight against his former team. If you’re playing the late slate, Lee is a viable option at his punt level salary.

Hibbert will start at center in tonight’s game against the Grizzlies for the injured Zeller. However, he is likely to only play a few more minutes than the 14-16 minutes he has been averaging since returning from injury. With Treveon Graham and Jeremy Lamb already ruled out as well, look for Frank Kaminsky to continue to take advantage, as he is second on the Hornets with a 23.0% usage rate when Zeller, Graham, and Lamb have been sidelined this season. He has been able to convert that usage into solid fantasy point per minute production and could be an under the radar tournament flier this evening.

Rush will be available to play in tonight’s game against the Boston Celtics after being sidelined since early November. It’s unclear how Rush will eventually factor into the Timberwolves’ rotation, though he is unlikely to play a significant role. His presence on the bench this evening does nothing to affect the fantasy outlook of any of the members of the Minnesota rotation.

Dedmon will not play in tonight’s game against the Dallas Mavericks, and has no timetable for a return after missing the Spurs previous two games. Pau Gasol, LaMarcus Aldridge, and David Lee will continue to absorb a majority of the frontcourt minutes in his absence.

Henderson will play in tonight’s game against Miami, after being listed as questionable with flu-like symptoms. Bayless will also play tonight after being upgraded to probable from questionable with a wrist injury that has kept him sidelined for the duration of the regular season thus far. There has been no confirmed reports of a minutes restriction. Ilyasova is apparently dealing with foot soreness, but will also play.

Booker will start on Monday against the Wizards, but it’s still possible he has his minutes limited to a degree in an effort to reduce the risk of re-injury. The Suns will start Bledsoe, Knight and Booker, so P.J. Tucker will move to the bench, but is still a candidate to see 25-30 minutes of run with Phoenix being shorthanded (no T.J. Warren on the wing). All three of the Suns guards are potential GPP plays, but none of them are safe enough to consider in cash games. Knight is a really nice GPP target on a site like FanDuel, where he’s priced at $4,700 and is SG eligible. Most of the better DFS targets in this game are on the Washington side (Wall, Porter, Morris, Beal, Gortat).

Waiters will play in tonight’s game against Philadelphia after being slapped with a questionable tag for the second consecutive game. Waiters was able to play and play well in Saturday’s game versus Washington despite the questionable designation, so he should be good to go tonight as well. Waiters will remain in the starting lineup and has led the Heat with a 29.2% usage when Justise Winslow has been off the court this season, while being a solid fantasy point per minute producer. He should have no problem exceeding value in a cake matchup with the Sixers perimeter defense this evening.

Morris will start against his former team tonight. He’s been dealing with an ankle injury and is expected to have his minutes monitored. He can still exceed value but will need to play 32-35 minutes to get there. Still, since it’s against the Suns, against his former team, he’s tournament viable. He is no longer a cash game play because he has only reached or exceeded value in two out of his last seven games. That’s too risky to trust and we should not take that kind of risk with nine games on the slate. Andrew Nicholson is his backup and has also been stuck on the bench for a while. If Nicholson can play 12-15 minutes, he can exceed but the risk is far too great. Jason Smith has also logged some big man mintes off the bench and makes this situation that much worse

Allen will play in tonight’s game against Charlotte after being listed as questionable earlier in the day with a groin injury he re-aggravated in Saturday’s game versus Minnesota. It has yet to be confirmed, but it is unlikely that Allen will eclipse the restriction of 20 minutes he has been limited to in the previous two games where he was active. With Parsons already ruled out for a minimum of two weeks, James Ennis, Vince Carter, and Andrew Harrison will be in line for even more of an extended run while Allen remains limited. This may not be the matchup nor slate to fire up Ennis as a cheap punt play, but he will certainly need to be on our radar for the foreseeable future while Parsons remains sidelined/

Henderson has been downgraded to questionable for tonight’s game against Miami, as he is reportedly dealing with flu-like symptoms. If he is ruled out, Hollis Thompson would draw the start at shooting guard in Henderson’s place. As for Bayless, he has been upgraded to probable for tonight’s contest after being listed as questionable with a wrist injury that has kept him sidelined for the duration of the regular season thus far. Bayless will reportedly go through pregame warmups before an official decision on his status is made, and there has been no confirmed reports of a minutes restriction. Ilyasova is apparently dealing with foot soreness, and has been added to the Sixers’ injury report as probable. He is expected to play, but this is a situation worth monitoring, as Dario Saric would become an intriguing value option with the extra minutes available if Ilyasova is ruled out.

Okafor will play in tonight’s game against Miami without a minutes restriction for the first time this season. Even though the “minutes restriction” has been lifted, it’s unlikely that Okafor sees a substantial increase in his minutes, as the Sixers have been hesitant to have him and Embiid on the floor together. He can be avoided in all formats until we have a better understanding of how the Sixers will utilize Okafor sans his minutes restriction. As for Embiid, he will remain on his normal restriction of 24 minutes this evening.
