Rudy Gobert will not play Friday vs. ORL
Rudy Gobert will not suit up for Friday’s game with the Magic. This leaves the center spot to Derrick Favors, who posted a monster fantasy total last night with Gobert on the shelf. While we shouldn’t expect another performance like that, Favors is a great bet for a double-double with solid upside in the blocks/steals categories. Trey Lyles is likely to draw another start with Trevor Booker helping out off the bench.

Anthony Davis out on Friday
With Davis out of action again, both Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon become elite plays across the industry. Both should be in for 15-20 shot attempts and should see minutes north of 35. Ish Smith is also a viable punt play tonight with Jrue Holiday still expected to be limited to 15 minutes of court time.

Alec Burks is likely to start with Rodney Hood out on Friday, which makes him an excellent DFS option in any format in the mid-range of the SG pool. With Burks as the starter, expect Joe Ingles, Chris Johnson and Elijah Millsap to see some extra run off the bench.

The Timberwolves have listed PG Ricky Rubio as inactive for tonight’s game against the Pacers. Zach LaVine will likely start in his place and Andre Miller will pick up the minutes behind him. Miller logged heavy minutes last night and could be limited tonight. LaVine will have an easier time covering George Hill tonight and could be in line for 30+ minutes. His ownership will likely be down tonight due to not really exceeding value last night.

Rudy Gobert active, but still a game-time decision
Rudy Gobert is on the active roster for Friday night, but he’s still going to test out his ankle in warmups to see if he’s capable of playing. If he’s unable to suit up, it’ll likely be Trey Lyles getting another start at PF. Lyles isn’t a recommended DFS play regardless. If Trevor Booker were to draw the start, he’d be a viable punt play. Derrick Favors will continue to see heavy minutes if Gobert is unable to play.

DeMarre Carroll’s status is still up in the air for Friday. If he’s unable to play, James Johnson will draw another start and would be a viable punt option in any format. Cory Joseph would also see a slight uptick in playing time off the bench.

New York Knicks Coach Derek Fisher said Arron Afflalo did not have any setbacks and will start again Friday. Afflalo debuted with 12 points and 6 rebounds in 28 minutes. Afflalo should ease some pressure off of Carmelo Anthony with an easier matchup playing opposite J.R. Smith. The minutes he received was a very positive sign that he is fully recovered and should be able to hit his projection.

KG played just 12 minutes last night and is apparently feeling good enough to give it a go again tonight. He’s likely to be limited to 14-17 minutes and isn’t a DFS option. Karl-Anthony Towns is in another nice spot tonight against what has turned into a fairly weak Indiana front-court.

Avery Bradley will not play tonight. Marcus Smart returned for the Celtics last game but came off the bench with Evan Turner in the starting lineup, although their roles will be swapped this evening. Isaiah Thomas, Smart, Jae Crowder, Jared Sullinger and Amir Johnson will start against the Hawks. IT2 is still in play with Smart back, but his minutes aren’t quite as secure and his usage rate should also drop a bit. Jae Crowder and Jared Sullinger are secondary options at their respective positions.

The Utah Jazz have listed Rodney Hood out due to right foot soreness. Alec Burks will likely take his place and will be a great play against the banged-up Magic. Evan Fournier is not the best defender and Burks has been running hot. Burks has over 30 FPs in his last two games and will likely see 30 minutes again tonight. Trey Burke also gets a DFS upgrade by being the first Jazz guard off the bench.

Both C.J. Watson and Jason Smith will sit out against the Jazz on Friday. With Victor Oladipo also out, the Magic are very thin at the guard spots. Smith’s absence doesn’t provide much in the way of DFS relevance, as his minutes will likely be eaten up by Channing Frye with Dewayne Dedmon coming off the bench to help provide depth behind Nikola Vucevic. Frye will start tonight and is a potential tournament play at minimum price.

Both Victor Oladipo and C.J. Watson will miss Friday’s game with the Jazz, leaving Elfrid Payton, Evan Fournier and Shabazz Napier to handle the guard duties. Payton will likely see upwards of 33-35 minutes, with Fournier a good bet to see close to 40. That leaves roughly 25-28 minutes for Napier assuming Fournier sees some time at the SF spot. He’s not a viable cash game play, but Napier is an interesting punt play in tournaments. The Jazz play at a very slow pace and are one of the best defensive teams in the league, so there isn’t a Magic player that can be confidently recommended in cash games.
Chris Paul doubtful, J.J. Redick out for Saturday vs. DET
Chris Paul is listed as doubtful while J.J. Redick has been ruled out for tomorrow’s game with the Pistons. With Paul on the shelf, it’ll likely be either Austin Rivers or Pablo Prigioni starting at the point. If Rivers doesn’t get the nod at PG, he’ll likely start at SG with Jamal Crawford coming off the bench. Blake Griffin is an elite play anytime Paul sits and that will be the case again tomorrow.

Seth Curry has been dealing with an ankle issue but has been upgraded to probable for tonight’s game. Darren Collison is still struggling with a hamstring issue and has been ruled out. Rajon Rondo played 48 minutes for his second consecutive game and posted a triple-double. The Kings face the Nets tonight and Vegas favors the Kings by 6.5. While it doesn’t seem like it’ll be a blowout, the Kings will play inspired ball to save their season.

DeMarcus Cousins becomes an even stronger play tonight if Gay is unable to play. It seems highly unlikely that Gay will be able to take the court if he’s currently in the hospital, which would set up Omri Casspi and Marco Belinelli for increased roles. Darren Collison has already been ruled out tonight, and while Seth Curry is listed as probable, expect another night of 40+ minutes for Rajon Rondo. He’s played all 48 minutes in both of the Kings last two games.
