Carson Wentz

Minnesota Vikings
1/01/22, 2:50 PM ET

IND QB Carson Wentz activated from COVID list

Carson Wentz has been activated from the COVID list ahead of the Colts matchup Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. This move was necessary for Wentz to potentially be able to play tomorrow, he will still need to be cleared by the doctors in the morning before he is officially eligible to play. As of now, the belief is that Wentz will clear this final hurdle and start but as we saw with Travis Kelce this is not necessarily a guarantee. In the case that Wentz is unable to play, Sam Ehlinger would draw the start for the Colts. All pass-catchers would see a slight downgrade in expected production and it would be likely for Indianapolis to ride Jonathan Taylor even more than they normally do. It will be important to monitor this situation, though we should officially know Wentz’s status before inactives are released 90 minutes prior to kickoff Sunday.

Brandon Powell

Minnesota Vikings
1/01/22, 2:43 PM ET

LAR WR Brandon Powell elevated from practice squad; WR J.J Koski signed to active roster

Brandon Powell elevated from practice squad, while J.J Koski has been signed to the active roster ahead of Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. Powell should continue to serve on special teams and provide receiver depth and should not be considered DFS relevant at this point. Koski will also likely serve as receiver depth and is not expected to play a major role in the offense.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire

Kansas City Chiefs
1/01/22, 1:37 PM ET

KCC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire downgraded to out Sunday; RB Jerick McKinnon has been activated from IR to 53-man roster

Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been downgraded to out Sunday, while Jerick McKinnon has been activated from IR to the 53-man roster ahead of the Chiefs matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. This entire week seemed as though CEH was trending in the wrong direction to play after suffering an injury to his collarbone last game so his downgrade to out comes as no surprise. Darrel Williams and Derrick Gore will likely split the backfield work with Williams being the more appealing DFS option due to his pass-catching ability. McKinnon should also mix in and see some work out of the backfield, but is not expected to see enough touches to be considered in DFS contests at this time.

Javonte Williams

Dallas Cowboys
12/31/21, 7:04 PM ET

DEN RB Javonte Williams, RB Melvin Gordon, and WR Courtland Sutton listed questionable for Sunday

Javonte Williams, Melvin Gordon, and Courtland Sutton have all been listed questionable for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. As of now there is no real concern for Williams or Gordon to miss this weekend’s game, they have been banged up but are expected to see their normal split in a good matchup against the poor Chargers run defense. Sutton has been listed as questionable with an illness and the fear is that he could possibly be placed on the COVID list joining fellow receivers Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick. If this were to be the case, Kendall Hinton would be the top receiving option for the Broncos with practice squad members helping to fill in. It will be important to monitor Sutton’s status tomorrow and Sunday as some receiver value could open up if he were to be ruled out.

Jimmy Garoppolo

Los Angeles Rams
12/31/21, 6:49 PM ET

SFO QB Jimmy Garoppolo listed doubtful for Sunday; RB Elijah Mitchell listed questionable

Jimmy Garoppolo has been listed doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans, while Elijah Mitchell has been listed questionable but is expected to play. With Garoppolo likely out, Trey Lance should draw the start and would need to be considered in DFS contests due to the safe floor he provides with his rushing ability. Elijah Mitchell seems to be trending towards a return which would move Jeff Wilson back to a more complimentary role. The return of Mitchell combined with Lance at quarterback could also potentially hurt Deebo Samuel. Samuel could lose some of his rushing opportunities to Lance and Mitchell and would see his expected production as a pass-catcher decrease as well. It will be important to ensure the status of both Garoppolo and Mitchell when inactives are released this Sunday 90 minutes prior to kickoff.

Cam Akers

Seattle Seahawks
12/31/21, 6:54 PM ET

LAR RB Cam Akers listed questionable for Sunday

Cam Akers has been listed questionable for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens but is not expected to play according to HC Sean McVay. With Akers likely out, Sony Michel will once again lead the Rams backfield and can be considered as one of the better plays on the slate. Jake Funk and Buddy Howell will be available to back him up, though they are not expected to see a large number of snaps.

Tre'Quan Smith

Detroit Lions
12/31/21, 6:45 PM ET

NOS WR Tre'Quan Smith listed out Sunday; RB Mark Ingram, WR Ty Montgomery, and WR Lil'Jordan Humphrey listed questionable

Tre’Quan Smith has been listed out for Sunday’s matchup against the Carolina Panthers, while Mark Ingram, Ty Montgomery, and Lil’Jordan Humphrey have been listed questionable. WIth Smith out and Montgomery and Humphrey questionable, Marquez Callaway and the returning Deonte Harris could play larger roles in the Saints passing game this Sunday. It remains difficult to trust New Orleans receivers in DFS contests but Callaway will need to be considered based on expected volume if Montgomery and/or Humphrey were to be ruled out.

Lamar Jackson

Baltimore Ravens
12/31/21, 6:38 PM ET

BAL QB Lamar Jackson, WR Marquise Brown, WR Devin Duvernay, and FB Patrick Ricard all listed questionable for Sunday

Lamar Jackson, Marquise Brown, Devin Duvernay, and Patrick Ricard all listed questionable for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. Jackson’s status is extremely questionable now for Sunday and if he were unable to suit up, Tyler Huntley would likely draw the start. Huntley would need to be considered for DFS contests as he has impressed in the starts he has gotten so far this year and could be rostered at a discount. Duvernay seems to be trending towards a return and would likely slot back in as the third or fourth receiver for the Ravens. Duvernay would not be expected to see enough work to be considered in DFS contests at this time. If Ricard is able to suit up this weekend, he would assume his role as the fullback and his return would likely lead to Ty’Son Williams being inactive. It will be important to monitor inactives when they are released Sunday as Jackson’s status will severely impact the entire slate.

James Conner

Arizona Cardinals
12/31/21, 6:34 PM ET

ARI RB James Conner, WR Rondale Moore, and TE Demetrius Harris all listed questionable for Sunday

James Conner, Rondale Moore, and Demetrius Harris have all been listed questionable for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. HC Kliff Kingsbury said that he believes Conner and Moore will be game-time decisions and they remain day to day at this point. If Conner were to miss Chase Edmonds would be the lead back for the Cardinals with Eno Benjamin and Jonathan Ward available to back him up. If Moore were to miss, Christian Kirk, A.J. Green, and Antione Wesley could all play bigger roles in the Arizona passing game.

As reported by: Darren Urban Other tagged players: Rondale Moore, Demetrius Harris

Jared Goff

Detroit Lions
12/31/21, 6:32 PM ET

DET QB Jared Goff listed doubtful for Sunday

Jared Goff has been listed doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. Goff has been cleared from the COVID protocols but is still dealing with a knee injury and labeled himself as day-to-day. If Goff is unable to suit up this weekend, Tim Boyle would once again draw the start. Boyle had a much better showing last week than he did in his first game but would still be considered a step down from Goff. All pass-catchers would take a hit in expected production.

As reported by: Detroit Lions

Jared Cook

Los Angeles Chargers
12/31/21, 6:29 PM ET

LAC TE Jared Cook placed on COVID list

Jared Cook has been placed on the COVID list ahead of the Chargers matchup against the Denver Broncos this Sunday. With Cook out, the tight end snaps will likely be split between Stephen Anderson and Tre’ McKitty with Anderson projected to be the better play. Anderson can be considered as a punt option in DFS contests.

As reported by: Aaron Wilson

Jack Doyle

Indianapolis Colts
12/31/21, 6:25 PM ET

IND TE Jack Doyle listed questionable for Sunday

Jack Doyle has been listed questionable for Sunday’s matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Doyle is expected to split snaps with Mo Alie-Cox this weekend but if he were unable to suit up Alie-Cox would handle the bulk of the snaps with Kylen Granson available to back him up. Alie-Cox would be a good value option but with the uncertainty at quarterback for the Colts right now it might be best to see how this situation plays out before locking him in your lineups.

As reported by: Indianapolis Colts

Clyde Edwards-Helaire

Kansas City Chiefs
12/31/21, 6:23 PM ET

KCC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire listed questionable for Sunday

Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been listed questionable for Sunday’s matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. It seems as though CEH is closer to doubtful due to a collarbone injury he suffered last game. If he were to miss, Darrel Williams and Derrick Gore would likely split the backfield work with Williams being the more appealing DFS option due to his pass-catching ability.

As reported by: Kansas City Chiefs

Antonio Brown

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
12/31/21, 6:16 PM ET

TBB WR Antonio Brown, WR Mike Evans, and WR Justin Watson listed questionable for Sunday

Antonio Brown, Mike Evans, and Justin Watson have all been listed questionable for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. Depending on which receivers are active for the Buccaneers, Breshad Perriman and Scotty Miller could be called upon to play larger roles in the Tampa Bay offense. Perriman could be considered as a value option if Evans or Brown are ruled out. It will be important to check inactives when they are released 90 minutes before kickoff.
