Joe Mixon (chest) added to injury report, questionable for Week 4
Joe Mixon was a late addition to the injury report on Saturday with a chest injury, and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday. Joe Mixon has completely dominated the rushing load so far this season for the Bengals, handling 52 of their 54 non-QB rush attempts. Giovani Bernard would be the top RB for the Bengals, and see an increase workload, including likely getting more rush attempts than usual. Samaje Perine should also see some work behind Bernard, as Bernard is not heavily involved in the rushing game typically, having not reached double digit rush attempts since 2018 Week 4. Trayveon Williams could also see some work, and the Bengals inactives will be important to monitor closely tomorrow.
As reported by: Geoff Hobson Other tagged players: Giovani Bernard, Samaje Perine, Trayveon WilliamsDeebo Samuel (foot) will play Sunday night
Samuel was originally expected to return in Week 5, but he was able to participate in practice in some capacity all three days this week, and he’ll make his return to the field in Sunday night’s Week 4 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles following his recovery from offseason foot surgery. However, head coach Kyle Shanahan did disclose to reports on a Zoom conference that Samuel will be eased back into the offensive gameplan and won’t have his usual role in this weekend’s contest despite not being limited to a specific snap count. The Niners are still without Jimmy Garoppolo and Raheem Mostert, which means Nick Mullens will get another start under center with Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson Jr. handling the majority of the backfield touches for at least one additional game.
As reported by: Eric Branch via TwitterChris Carson (knee) and Carlos Hyde (shoulder) listed as questionable for Sunday
Despite an injury scare in last Sunday’s win, head coach Pete Carroll has been extremely optimistic about Carson being able to play in Week4, and Carson has officially been listed as questionable on the Seahawks’ injury report due to a knee injury. Since Carson appears to be on track to play, Hyde would likely remain in his usual complementary backup running back role if he’s able to suit up in Sunday’s matchup against the Miami Dolphins after being limited in practice on Friday with a shoulder injury. Barring some kind of snap count, Carson figures to be an intriguing tournament target on this weekend’s daily fantasy slates, though he’ll certainly carry some added risk with the possibility of re-injury or a blowout, which could limit his total touches out of the backfield.
As reported by: Curtis Crabtree via Twitter Other tagged players: Carlos HydeDeSean Jackson (hamstring) and Alshon Jeffery (foot) won't play Sunday night; JJ Arcega-Whiteside (calf) doubtful
Jackson, Jeffery, and Arcega-Whiteside didn’t participate in practice all week, and they’ve officially been ruled out of Sunday night’s Week 4 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers due to their respective ailments. This means that Greg Ward and John Hightower are the only wide receivers on the Eagles active roster to practice today with Jalen Reagor still on injured reserve. However, rookie Quez Watkins hasn’t technically been ruled out after having his 21-day practice window to return from injured reserve activated earlier in the week and could make his NFL debut, while Deontay Burnett, Travis Fulgham, and Marcus Green are available to be recalled from the practice squad at any time. Regardless, Ward, Zach Ertz, and Miles Sanders will be top pass-catchers for quarterback Carson Wentz in this weekend’s contest.
As reported by: Reuben Frank via Twitter Other tagged players: Alshon Jeffery, JJ Arcega-WhitesideMichael Thomas (ankle) and Jared Cook (groin) won't play Sunday
Thomas was limited in practice this week, but he’s still being held out an additional game and will be inactive for Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the Detroit Lions due to a high ankle sprain that’s now forced him to three two games. This is obviously a devasting blow to the Saints offense, and with Thomas unavailable, it elevates Emmanuel Sanders Tre’Quan Smith to the de facto top wide receivers for Drew Brees, while Alvin Kamara also should maintain his elevated market share of the Saints’ targets out of the backfield and occasionally from the slot. As for Cook, he was unable to participate in practice all three days following his exit from last Sunday night’s loss with a groin injury, and in his absence, rookie Adam Trautman should see an increased role in the offense after accumulating two targets on a 52% snap rate in the Saints’ Week 3 contest.
As reported by: Tim Twentyman via Twitter Other tagged players: Jared CookDeAndre Hopkins (ankle) and Christian Kirk (groin) will be game-time decisions on Sunday
Hopkins didn’t practice for a third consecutive day due to an ankle injury, and he’s officially been listed as questionable on the Cardinals’ injury report for Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the Carolina Panthers, while Christian Kirk is also questionable and expected to be a game-time decision as well. Kirk appears to have a decent chance of returning from a one-game injury absence, so if Hopkins is unable to suit up, Arizona’s three-wide sets would likely include Kirk, Larry Fitzgerald, and KeeSean Johnson, who surprisingly saw 69.4% of snaps and ran 28 routes in last Sunday’s loss. Even though Andy Isabella put together the more impressive stat line with two touchdowns, he only ran 14 routes, and the Cardinals’ coaching staff appears to still be hesitant to let him play outside, which severely limits his projected value in daily fantasy formats if Hopkins is inactive this upcoming weekend.
As reported by: Josh Weinfuss via Twitter Other tagged players: Christian KirkZack Moss (toe) listed as questionable for Sunday
Moss was limited participant in practice all three days this week, and he’s officially been listed as questionable on the Bills’ injury report for Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders due to a toe injury that’s already forced him to miss one game. Moss has played 42.6% of snaps in a split backfield timeshare with Devin Singletary in his two active games this season, so if Moss is unable to give it a go once again, Singletary would suddenly become the clear lead running back in the Bills’ offense and an intriguing daily fantasy option in tournament formats on Sunday’s main slate after logging 96.3% of snaps and totaling 17 touches in last Sunday’s win over the Los Angeles Rams with Moss sidelined.
As reported by: Chris Brown via TwitterMike Williams (hamstring) officially ruled out for Sunday
Williams didn’t participate in practice the entire week, and he’s officially been ruled out for Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a hamstring injury he sustained in the loss to the Carolina Panthers last Sunday afternoon. Following Williams’ early exit in that contest, Jalen Guyton came on in relief as the primary wide receiver opposite of Keenan Allen but accrued just three targets despite logging an 84.7% snap rate. The other depth receivers behind them will likely be some combination of K.J. Hill, Joe Reed, and Jason Moore, but make no mistake, Allen, Austin Ekeler, and Hunter Henry are still the three primary pass catchers for rookie quarterback Justin Herbert, who will be making his third career start with Tyro Taylor still sidelined with a ribs injury and punctured lung.
As reported by: Joe Reedy via TwitterTerry McLaurin (thigh) listed as questionable for Sunday; Steven Sims (toe) ruled out
McLaurin was limited in practice for a second straight day, and he’s officially been listed as questionable on Washington’s injury report for Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens due to a thigh injury. As for Sims, he wasn’t able to practice the entire week with a toe injury and will officially be inactive for this weekend’s contest. However, Sims’ absence won’t have too significant of an impact on Washington’s wide receiver corps after he was held targetless on 14 routes prior to his exit in last Sunday’s loss, but it should still allow Isaiah Wright and Antonio Gandy-Golden to absorb the vacated snaps as the third and fourth wideouts in spread formations even if they aren’t necessarily relevant for daily fantasy formats.
As reported by: Ben Standig via Twitter Other tagged players: Steven SimsKareem Hunt (groin) officially listed as questionable for Sunday
Hunt was able to return to practice on a limited basis Friday, but he’s still officially been listed as questionable on the Browns’ injury report for Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys due to a groin injury. Despite the injury designation, the Browns don’t believe Hunt’s injury to be serious, and he is expected to try and play in this weekend’s contest barring some sort of setback between now and game day. The Browns have been one the highest-volume running teams in the NFL through three weeks, but if they get down early and are forced to lean towards a more pass-heavy game script, Hunt could be an intriguing tournament target on daily fantasy slates, assuming there aren’t reports of a potential snap count or other limitations come Sunday morning.
As reported by: Nate Ulrich via TwitterLeonard Fournette (ankle) won't play Sunday; Scotty Miller (hip, groin) questionable
Fournette wasn’t able to participate in practice all week, and he’s officially been ruled out of Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers due to an ankle injury. This means that Ronald Jones should maintain his grasp on the lead running back role for at least one more game after accumulating 13 carries and four targets in last Sunday’s win. Head coach Bruce Arians also disclosed to reporters that Miller participated in portions of Friday’s practice, and they’ll see how he responds tomorrow before making a decision on his status. If Miller is unable to suit up, the Buccaneers would become relatively thin at the wide receiver position since Chris Godwin was previously ruled out, and in his hypothetical absence, Justin Watson would likely handle nearly all of the available slot routes while Tyler Johnson and Jaydon Mickens should compete for time on the outside in three-wide sets.
As reported by: Scott Smith via Twitter Other tagged players: Scotty MillerJamison Crowder (hamstring) and Chris Hogan (ribs, knee) officially active Thursday night
Crowder and Hogan are both officially active for Thursday night’s Week 4 matchup against the Denver Broncos despite previously being listed as questionable with their respective ailments. Both Crowder and Hogan were limited participants in practice on Monday and Tuesday, and barring any sort of setback or snap count limitation, Crowder instantly becomes the number one option on offense for quarterback Sam Darnold with Breshad Perriman and Le’Veon Bell still sidelined with injuries. Crowder saw a massive 39.4% market share of the targets in Week 1, and not only was he targeted near the line of scrimmage in that game, but he also accumulated 42.0% of the Jets’ air yards, only adding to his ceiling if the volume of high-leverage opportunities maintain similar rates moving forward.
As reported by: the New York Jets via Twitter Other tagged players: Chris HoganPhillip Lindsay (toe) officially inactive Thursday night
Lindsay was a limited participant in practice this week, but he’ll be held out one more game and is officially inactive for Thursday night’s Week 4 matchup against the New York Jets after being listed as questionable on the Broncos’ injury report with a turf toe injury. This means that Melvin Gordon will be the lead workhorse running back for a third consecutive game, and he’s managed to see at least a 71.7% snap share in both of the contests Lindsay has been sidelined thus far. In a more favorable game script, Gordon would likely see an even larger portion of the backfield work as he managed to accumulate 19 rushing attempts in Week 2 to go along with six targets from quarterbacks Drew Lock and Jeff Driskel, both of whom won’t be starting tonight as Brett Rypien gets the nod from head coach Vic Fangio with Lock still battling a shoulder injury.
As reported by: the Denver Broncos via TwitterDeAndre Hopkins (ankle) doesn't practice again Thursday
Hopkins didn’t practice for a second consecutive day due to an ankle injury, and his availability for Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the Carolina Panthers is suddenly in some doubt. The Cardinals expect to get Christian Kirk back from a one-game injury absence, so if Hopkins is unable to suit up, the three-wide sets would likely include Kirk, Larry Fitzgerald, and KeeSean Johnson, who surprisingly saw 69.4% of snaps and ran 28 routes in last Sunday’s loss.
As reported by: Josh Weinfuss via TwitterLeonard Fournette (ankle) and Scotty Miller (hip, groin) don't practice again Thursday
Fournette and Miller didn’t participate in practice for a second straight day, and it’s looking less likely that either will be able to play in Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers due to their respective ailments. In fact, head coach Bruce Arians even admitted to reporters via Zoom earlier in the week that it would be a stretch for Fournette to be ready to go in this weekend’s contest, which would mean Ronald Jones should maintain his grasp on the lead running back role for at least one more game. As for Miller, the Buccaneers would become relatively thin at the wide receiver position if he is unable to suit up with Chris Godwin already ruled out, and in his hypothetical absence, Justin Watson would handle nearly all of the available slot routes while Tyler Johnson and Jaydon Mickens would likely compete for time on the outside in three-wide sets.
