Kerryon Johnson (Knee) Has Surgery, Going on Injured Reserve
Kerryon Johnson had knee surgery Tuesday and was placed on the injured reserve. The Lions hope he can return later in the season, but Ty Johnson will see an increased workload going forward.

I will keep rolling with Carson as an elite top-end play in all formats. Even though he didn’t have his best game in Week 6, Carson played on a whopping 64 offensive snaps compared to six for C.J. Prosise and two for Rashaad Penny. The volume is massive here, and the Seahawks get to face the lowly, dreadful, awful, abysmal, insert-your-own-adjective-here Falcons this week. Expect a nice bounce-back game from the entire offense. Carson should get a healthy workload, especially if the Seahawks can get out to a lead, as expected.
Opportunity in a Plus Matchup
Mack’s role remains the same as it was early in the season, and he has logged snap rates of 67% and 71% over the last two weeks. However, Jacoby Brissett has been hogging the touchdowns, as he tossed four scores through the air in last week’s impressive victory over the Texans. Variance will swing back Mack’s way at some point, and this sets up as a perfect game script with the Colts hosting a struggling Denver squad. Indianapolis is a touchdown favorite in this game, and these are the contests where we usually see Mack thrive. He remains near the top of the league in carries, and I expect a big game at relatively modest ownership.
Solid GPP Leverage
In a GPP sense, I like the Matthew Stafford to Kenny Golladay play here in Week 8. Golladay was nonexistent in last week’s loss to the Vikings, and Marvin Jones was peppered with targets and caught all the touchdowns. However, Golladay is still the best receiver on this team with the most long-term potential, and this is a great get right spot against an abysmal Giants secondary. We also might see Detroit lean on the pass more often this week given the injury to Kerryon Johnson. There are a lot of factors working in favor of the Stafford/Golladay connection as we head into Week 8. It also provides some leverage against what is likely going to be a chalky Ty Johnson.
Emmanuel Sanders Traded to the 49ers
Emmanuel Sanders has been traded to the 49ers along with a 5th round pick in exchange for a 3rd and 4th round pick. Sanders will take over as the top WR, moving ahead of Deebo Samuel.

Swaim was placed on injured reserve Wednesday by the Jaguars. This opens up the TE1 spot for Josh Oliver with Seth DeValve as the backup. Last week Oliver made his debut, playing 30% of the snaps but not receiving a target.

Previous reports had indicated that Thielen would miss at least this Thursday’s game. However, coach Mike Zimmer said Tuesday that Thielen was healing quickly and still had a chance to play. His status is still very much in question, but won’t be clarified possibly until shortly before kickoff Thursday.

The Patriots have upgraded their offense by trading for Mohamed Sanu. This could be a bad sign for Josh Gordon, who missed the last game with knee and ankle injuries.

Johnson was forced out of last week’s game early and is going to miss some time with his knee injury. He is considered week-to-week at this point. Ty Johnson saw the biggest increase in usage, getting 10 rush attempts and 4 targets. J.D. McKissic should also see some increased usage.
