Michael Gallup (Knee) Expected to Make Limited Return to Practice Wednesday

There is a chance Gallup will be able to return for Week 5, as he was expected to get a limited practice in Wednesday. He has missed the last two weeks, and his initial recovery window was 2-4 weeks.

Sam Darnold

Sam Darnold (Mono) Limited Practice Wednesday

Darnold has returned to practice in a limited capacity, as he is still not cleared for contact. He is taking first-team reps, but Falk is also getting reps in practice. It would be risky to rush Darnold back, so Falk still has a good shot at being the Week 5 starter. There is little upside to the Jets’ offense with Falk at QB.

DeSean Jackson (Abdomen) Does Not Practice Wednesday

Jackson sat out practice Wednesday, lowering his chances of returning this week. He has missed the previous two weeks, so he won’t be able to play without getting some practice in this week.

Tyrell Williams (Foot) Does Not Practice Wednesday

Williams did not practice Wednesday with a foot injury picked up during Week 4. It isn’t clear how serious the injury is, as he was able to play all of the game last week. He will need to be monitored, but he isn’t a significant risk to sit out at this point.

Austin Hooper

Under the Radar TE Play

The Falcons are struggling mightily so far this year, but Austin Hooper has not been the reason for those struggles. He is seeing 8+ targets per game and is coming off a 9/130 line against the Titans in Week 4, and that was a week after catching two touchdowns in Week 3. Look for him to keep the good vibes rolling against the Texans, and Hooper is a solid mid-range play at TE.

Christian McCaffrey

San Francisco 49ers

The Top Fantasy Player in the NFL

McCaffrey is currently performing on an early 2018 Todd Gurley level. His production has been out of this world so far in 2019. He has played on 100% of the offensive snaps in three of four games this year and essentially never comes off the field. We don’t see that in a lot of NFL players these days, especially at the RB position. McCaffrey is averaging an absurd 28 touches per game, and he has scored four times in four games. With Newton out and not a threat to steal red zone carries, the floor and ceiling are off the charts here. He’s essentially a cash game lock in any matchup at this point, and the GPP upside is still there.

DeAndre Hopkins

Buy Low While You Can

It has been a rough first month of the season for Hopkins, as he has not found the end zone since Week 1 and has now been held under 70 receiving yards in three straight games. The good news is that he ALMOST scored a long touchdown last week, and the matchups are starting to become more favorable after he had to face Lattimore, Ramsey, and Hayward in the first three games of the year. He should thrive in a matchup against a fading Atlanta team, and our early ownership projections have him in the 10% range, which is considerably lower than where he usually lands. Buy low.

Stack Up The Value

Stacking up cheaper options in the ARI/CIN game is a fine way to go about GPP roster construction this week. Both of these teams are bad, and both of these teams are winless. With both defenses struggling, we should see a little more offense than normal out of these squads, and we can still count on Arizona to push the pace. We can also get some value here given the fact that both teams are dealing with WR injuries. The Kyler Murray/KeeSean Johnson stack might be in play, and we could even consider Andy Dalton/Auden Tate. This is a great game to find some GPP value, as both Johnson and Tate should see a ton of snaps thanks to injuries at the WR position on their respective teams.

John Ross (Shoulder) Expected to Miss Multiple Games

John Ross is expected to miss multiple weeks to a month with a shoulder injury suffered Monday night of Week 4. Ross was having a breakout season despite the Bengals being 0-4, with 328 yards and 3 touchdowns through 4 games. His 20.4 yards per catch are 4th in the NFL, and he had formed a strong duo with Tyler Boyd while A.J. Green has been out with his injury. Both Auden Tate and Tyler Eifert could be in line for more targets with Ross out.

James Conner Says Ankle "Fine", Nothing Torn

James Conner spoke about his ankle Tuesday, saying that it was fine and nothing was torn. While he did have treatment on it, he said he could practice tomorrow. His status still needs to be monitored, but this is a positive sign.

Sean Culkin

Kansas City Chiefs
10/01/19, 4:54 PM ET

Sean Culkin (Achilles) Placed on IR, Stephen Anderson Promoted to Active Roster

Culkin wasn’t actively involved in the passing game, and Stephen Anderson won’t be, but this does make the Chargers’ injury problems at TE worse. They were already without Hunter Henry and Virgil Green in Week 4, meaning Culkin played 58% of the snaps last week. The Chargers will need to lean further on Lance Kendricks until their TE’s start to get healthy.

Cardinals Sign WR Pharoh Cooper

Cooper is a return man and emergency depth option at WR for the Cardinals. While he won’t be a fantasy factor, his addition is a sign that Christian Kirk is likely to miss some time with the ankle injury he picked up during Week 4.

Golden Tate

Golden Tate (Suspension) Activated, Bennie Fowler and T.J. Jones Released

Tate has been activated after missing the first four games of the season due to suspension. The Giants also activated LB Josiah Tauaefa, meaning they had to release two players. They released two WR’s, Bennie Fowler and T.J. Jones.

Fowler faded the past two weeks, going from 10 catches the first two weeks down to just two catches the last two weeks. Jones muffed two punts last week, which likely doomed him. He had no targets over the past two weeks, so the fantasy impact isn’t huge.

James Conner

James Conner (Ankle) Will Be Limited This Week in Practice

Conner is being evaluated for an ankle injury and will be limited in practice this week, according to coach Mike Tomlin. Conner previously had been dealing with a knee injury, but is coming off his best game of the season, gaining 125 yards and scoring a touchdown Monday night. If he is out, Jaylen Samuels would be in line for a significant increase in workload.

Jerry Jones Won't Rule Out Michael Gallup (Knee) Week 5

Jones would not rule out Gallup for this week, two weeks after the WR went down with a knee injury. The original timeline for recovery was 2-4 weeks, so we are entering a realistic window for his return. His practice status tomorrow will give up a better idea whether or not he can return Week 5.
