Antonio Brown Accused of Sexual Assault and Rape

Antonio Brown has been accused of 3 counts of sexual assault and rape by a former trainer. The charges are civil, not criminal, but the NFL could still put Brown on the commissioner’s except list. Brown’s status for Week 2 is now questionable.

Tyreek Hill (Clavicle) Out 4-6 Weeks

This is positive news for Hill, as he avoids the IR for now. Sammy Watkins, Demarcus Robinson and Mecole Hardman will all see increased targets while Hill is out. Patrick Mahomes’ value might take a slight hit, but he remains an elite option, as shown by his dominate Week 1 without Hill for most of the game.

Travis Kelce

Massive Targets Ahead

There is a ton of value available on this slate, and I will prioritize getting Travis Kelce into a lot of my DFS lineups. He is going to be staring at a massive target share for as long as Tyreek Hill is sidelined, and Sammy Watkins is not going to go nuclear every week. Let’s also not forget that Kelce had a 12/168/2 line against these Raiders last year. His ability to produce massive numbers at a premium position makes him an elite spend in Week 2, especially because of how the salary builds work out.

Target Some Game Stacks

I definitely want to get some exposure to the Saints/Rams game this week, as it features a Vegas total of 54 points, which is the highest we have seen on the young season. In the regular season meeting between these teams a year ago, there were 80 total points scored. The playoff game was a bit of a drag but was still an entertaining 26-23 contest. I’d expect plenty of offense here, and the Rams’ passing game should be better than it was in the opener. Robert Woods is my favorite receiver to target, as he saw 13 targets in Week 1 against Carolina. He also led the team in targets in the two head-to-head meetings against the Saints last year. I like the Goff/Woods pairing, and you can make this part of a full game stack, as well.

Last Chance To Get The Discount

This might be the last week we are able to get a discount on Josh Jacobs in DFS. Due to the Raiders playing the late Monday night game in Week 1, Jacobs is still listed at a similar price in Week 2. However, he dominated the Oakland backfield, earning 23 carries compared to just three combined for Washington and Richard. He turned those into 85 yards and a pair of scores, and he added a 28 yard reception. He’s one of the only true three down backs in the NFL these days, and he’s dirt cheap in DFS. Continue to target him with confidence in any format.

Tim Patrick

Tim Patrick (Broken Hand) Out Indefinitely

Tim Patrick suffered a broken hand and will be out indefinitely. This will give Juwann Winfree a chance to contribute. However, Winfree will still need to earn his role, as he is currently the 5th WR for the Broncos.

Demaryius Thomas

New York Jets
9/10/19, 4:47 PM ET

Demaryius Thomas Traded to the NY Jets for 2021 6th Round Pick

The Patriots dealt Thomas to the Jets for a future draft pick, clearing one player out of their crowed WR corps. Thomas was inactive Week 1 for the Patriots while recovering from a hamstring injury. Thomas was no longer needed with Antonio Brown joining the Patriots this week.

Demaryius Thomas will reunite with Adam Gase in New York. Now the head coach of the Jets, Gase was the offensive coordinator of the Broncos during the best stretch of Thomas’ career, including 3 straight seasons over 1400 yards receiving. 2018 was Thomas’ worst season since his second year in the NFL, averaging 45.1 yards per game while splitting the season between the Broncos and the Texans. He could develop into a top option for the Jets, but expect him to be closer to a 4th option in Week 2 given the limited time to learn the playbook.

Greg Olsen (Back) Believes He Will Play Thursday

Greg Olsen said Tuesday he believes he will play Thursday. He didn’t practice Tuesday, so this quote is promising. With the short week we’re unlikely to get any additional helpful information prior to Thurday’s inactives. Ian Thomas’ value is dependent on Olsen’s playing status.

Peyton Barber

Peyton Barber Remains Starter, Ronald Jones the Backup

While Jones will be the backup, this is looking like a timeshare. Coach Arians said that Jones will come in for Barber when needed, then remain in if he has the hot hand, as he did in week 1. Jones ended up out carrying Barber 13 to 8, and predicting usage between these two backs will be very difficult going forward.

De'Anthony Thomas

Baltimore Ravens
9/10/19, 2:16 PM ET

De'Anthony Thomas Activated, Byron Pringle Waived

Pringle was at the bottom of the WR depth chart and ended up being waived to make room for the return of De’Anthony Thomas.

Even with Tyreek Hill’s injury, the Chiefs still have a talented receiving corps, with Sammy Watkins, Demarcus Robinson and Mecole Hardman all above Thomas. Travis Kelce is an elite TE and Damien Williams caught all 6 of his targets Week 1, showing just how deep this passing attack is for Kansas City. Thomas will not have a consistent role in this offense.

Rashard Higgins

9/10/19, 1:39 PM ET

Rashard Higgins (Ankle) Expects to Play Week 2

Higgins said he expects to play Monday night, but it will be important to track his practice participation this week. He had a limited role Week 1, catching 2 of his 3 targets for 46 yards. Damion Ratley will move into the 3rd WR spot if Higgins can’t play.

Greg Olsen

Carolina Panthers
9/10/19, 12:12 PM ET

Greg Olsen (Back) Does Not Practice

Greg Olsen did not practice with a back injury on Tuesday. The Panthers play Thursday this week, so Olsen’s chances of playing aren’t looking good. Olsen was heavily involved in the passing game Week 1, although not particularly effective, catching 4 of 9 targets for 36 yards. Ian Thomas will be the top passing TE if Olsen is out. Thomas averaged nearly 6 targets per game last season during the 7 full games Olsen missed.

Rico Gathers

Cleveland Browns
9/10/19, 9:56 AM ET

Rico Gathers Waived by Browns

Gathers was waived by the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday after being suspended Week 1. David Njoku has the pass catching TE role locked down for the Browns, bringing in 4 out of 6 targets for 37 yards and a TD. Demetrius Harris was the only other TE to get a target Week 1, which he did not catch.

Juwann Winfree

Tyrell Williams, Ryan Grant Starting at WR for Raiders

The Raiders WR rotation opened up significantly with Antonio Brown now on the Patriots. Tyrell Williams is the number 1 option, while Ryan Grant as been named the other starting WR for Week 1. Hunter Renfrow is backing up Williams and J.J. Nelson is behind Grant.
